Round 4 Match Ups!
 Group admin
Ok guys, you ready for some surprises? Here we GO! First, the blah blah stuff.

Due date: The due date for your creations is Sunday, October 4th at 11:59 pm Eastern standard time.

Title: Yeap, same as always… MocOlympics round 4 you vs whoever in (category)

Be sure to add that link!

Now, the fun stuff. From round 4 all the way through the finals, each match will have a NEW and DIFFERENT category! When this all got started, I figured that 7 rounds of the same stuff would get BORING, so I created 15 NEW categories and have been keeping them under wraps till now! Of course, you’re only seeing the round 4 ones, we’ve still got a lot more hiding for the following rounds.

Judges: There are five judges for rounds 4. You will need 3 votes to continue on to the next round. Your judges for round 4 are: Chris Phipson, Mark Kelso, Lee Jones, Giovanni Seynhaeve and Brian Kescenovitz.

Good luck to all of you and let’s get BUILDING!

Round 4 categories

Wes Pitter vs Dave Sterling in:

Recycle: Choose a MOC from a builder that we all know and love… ok, that we know… and try to recreate it as best you can in the ten day time frame! When you post you MUST tell us who you tried to copy and which moc it is. A link would be REALLY nice, but not “required.”

J.D. Luse vs Mark Legorski in:

HALO: Yeap, I said it. Because so few of you (coughnonecough) decided to do HALO in the popular fiction category, I decided to throw it in just to make Kescenovitz happy! Not a lot of description needed here. You know what to do Mstur Ch33f!

Chas Irish vs Stacy Sterling in:

Clone Wars: It’s time for you to show those clone kiddies just how it’s done! Create your own episode of the Clone Wars! This one’s pretty self explanatory. If you don’t know, just search for clone wars and you’ll have MORE than enough material to study.

Crimso Giger vs Amber Flor in:

LegoWear: Ok, this one you’ll love. Make something out of LEGO to WEAR! Anything you can think of! Glasses, bracelets, shoes, bras, g-strings! (Female models only on the last two please). You must include a picture of yourself (or spouse or friend or worst enemy. Whoever you can con into it is fine) WEARING the item you built. Go on, give us a little twirl!

Dave Kaleta vs Steef de Prouw in:

MOC me a Story Chris: For the two of you that will get this category, in about 5 minutes, go check your email. I have written a story and sent it to both of you (now you know WHY I needed email addresses from everyone). Your mission is to build a moc to that story! Good luck!

Lego Lord vs John Moffat in:

The Townies are coming, the townies are coming: Alright, so I was stumped for categories… Build us a “town” creation. City block, Town Hall, train station, Suburban house with hot tub… whatever your little heart desires. Nothing Sci-fi, we’re looking for “real” town stuff here.

2x4 vs Aliencat in:

ESPN: This one’s pretty easy… in theory. Build us a sporting event. (almost) Anything that’s shown on ESPN (or sky sports or whatever channel you can think of sports wise). For the record, Chess is NOT a sport and in my opinion and neither is Poker. Women’s Bikini Volleyball on the other hand… definitely a sport!

Kevin Fedde vs Master Shifu Leo J in:

Instrukshuns: Show us a technique. A lot of people wonder how you do such amazing things. Well, now you get to show them. Take one of your little building tips, secrets or whatever you call it, and show us how it’s done!

Since these are new categories, I'll be taking questions until Saturday. Other than that, good luck!

Okay, so people have TO build from another person in one section!? WOW! That is actually a pretty cool idea... All of these new ones! Especially the instructions one *evil laugh*.

... seriously ... all of a sudden, something unholy and involuntary came out from behind ...

Wow! I was totally blindsided by that category! I was expecting something new, but not that! Well done Chris!
Now for something to make instructions of...

haha you're getting more mad at every second Chris ! Great ideas of categories ! Now it's not only a little move from our comfort zone, but a big weird trip to the Twilight Zone of Lego. That will be fun !

Got it and replied. Good luck man, sounds good! Oh, and you don't HAVE to use word bubbles if you don't want to or can't. Like I said in the email, keep the basic story but make it your own. Good luck! ~ Chris.

Questions about "Instrukshuns": [1] Does it have to be a technique used from a previously posted MOC? [2] If no, can we use a technique learned but not implemented? [3] Can it be more than 1 technique? [4] By technique, does it mean beyond just manipulating brick? ... I just had to ask. I got nothing on all 4 counts... maybe I should start with my "Thank you so much!" speech...

1: No, it doesn't have to be something you did before. 2: Yes 3: If they "fit" together like "in order to do this, you need to do this first" then it's good. 4: I'm not sure what the question is there. Chris = old and senile (also known as Kelsoitus). Please rephrase the question in the form of an answer and tell Trebek that you'll take African and European Swallows for a thousand.

Hope that helps... a bit? hahaha ~ Chris.

Kinkajous and Binturongs for 5 pesos please... OK, for question 4, I was thinking more of the presentation after the MOC is built. Are we strictly talking about the LEGO build or the overall package - MOC + photos + presentation, etc.?

Yeah, your pics and presentation will count only because we need to be able to REALLY see how you're doing what you're doing. This category doesn't even really "need" a full, finished moc with it. It's more about the viewer learning a new idea. But a finished MOC showing how the idea is implimented wouldn't hurt. Hope that helps!

Can "clone wars" be anything star wars? Or does it have to be clones? I'll still have a story, but I can't have a huge battle with my 3 clone minifigures.

Safest way to play it is this. Anything from the time (era) frame of the clone wars is fine. There's a lot of stuff that happened from the end of Ep2 to the end of Ep3... that's all I'm sayin. My mind is RACING with ideas that would work easily around you not having "clone minifigs" but I can't answer creativity questions... too bad too, this one idea I have would be KILLER... maybe I'll build it after you guys do this round. hehehe I hope that kinda answered your question and good luck!

Yeah, that's what I thought when I first read about "MOC me a story" but then I actually sat down and thought about it. It's up to the creator to make it an interesting MOC build (as I've tried to show through my previous entries). You CAN make something that uses great techniques, have it be humorous/compelling/interesting and be photographed/presented well. Chris has put a lot of thought into the categories and if builders are willing to expand their horizions, they will get a lot out of each round (I know I have).

assuming that the whole point is to build something representing or telling the story. If it is just retell the story in a comic, its already someone else's imagination anyway.

Joesph Campbell - "The Hero With a Thousand Faces". We're all retelling the same stories anyway, just personalizing/updating them. Example: (not trying to be egotistical here) my second round entry. I took a song(musical story) that is based on news(non-fiction story) and turned it into a MOC (visual story). I would say that's pretty imaginative.
