Inspiration for ship ideas
Join to comment
I thought I should share some ideas on where you can get information on ships. The best source is of course the internet. Websits such as ClassicPirates.com have inspred me many times. Wikipedia is another good source. And of course books from your local or school library have helped alot, with the shape of the ship and the placement of the masts. If you know of any otherways to get info on ships, please share it here!

My Inspiration for the Black Pearl was of course the Black Pearl. I also have not uploaded it yet, but I made a single-masted sloop The Blood Dragon, with 14 cannon. I took inspiration for that from the John Matthews book: Pirates, in which there is a diagram of different kinds of ships and one is a sloop. I also took inspiration from a picture of the royal sailing yacht: The Stuart.

I got my inspiration from Pirates Of the Caribbean and some other pirate movies,
I actually don't know a lot actual facts about those sailing ships

I got most of my inspiration from the boats of the game 'Napoleon Total War'. The ships in that game are 100% realistic and with the 3d world very easy to view from all directions.
Also good for a lot of details.

I was originally inspired to start ship building when I was playing Age of Empires III, but then when I started my senior high school history classes I actually got to do an entire year of maritime history, focusing on the revolutionary war, and thats where my schooner stint began. Ever since then I have been totally addicted to those beautiful ships:D

I never played any games with sailing ships in it,
I was fascinated by lego ships before the fascination of real sailing ships came :P
I've always wanted the Black Seas barracuda,
at the time it was sold I was very young and wasn't able to convince my parents, besides, according to the box I wasn't old enought to build it anyway :p
and nowadays the ship is very difficult to come by, you can buy it on ebay but you'll pay a price higher than the original price,
it became a collectors Item :(

Thank you. I'm already working on a new, bigger and stronger ship. So, in a few days, watch my page: http://mocpages.com/home.php/59314
