Maybe you could use two of those Panel 1x2x1 pieces, back to back, to make like a raised monorail like they have in Japan.

I've made one, and it involves grill tiles. I can put it into this group, and you can look at it. I've found the slots in the grill tiles perfectly fit the higher parts, so you can slide one along a row of grill tiles.
