I use any ball-clamp type joints. joints from boinicleis good but add bricks to make it look lego.

well, for one, any of the exoforce click joints are great and pretty sturdy, but for ankle joints, probably the bricks with the ball and socket on the ends. Additionally for knee joints I like to use the click ones that are on the end of 1x2 bricks http://www.mocpages.com/image_zoom.php?mocid=296806&id=/user_images/36689/1322312761m like that. Hope this helps. Oh and P.S. for smaller mechs you'll find that t-bars are perfect.
