you've got a typo on the group description, it says slat-flats rather than salt-flats. Also the 'to' before 'devoted to rods' shouldn't be there. I'm not really nit picky, just feel our group shouldn't look sloppy. I'm glad to be a member

hey ape, thanks for letting me join your group. I appreciate it.

This one's Dylans! Apple owns the Flickr side of things, Dylan the groups, and myself the original page. At some point I hope to sync them all up so they look the same, or each one has a specific difference from the others. Thanks for your support... we'll get the format and bugs sorted : )

Hey guys, is this group geared more toward any roddy-looking thing or imitations of real cars? Of course rods are all custom, but I find it hard to make a unique rod, different from all the other model T's here. I might try making a stock black model A in 6wide... Just wondering, -matthew-

Thanks for adding it! Happy to have it on the page ; )

Good point about ROTM; it's a bit out of date now.

It's not just the newest Rod which gets it though... it's selected upon originality and quality, which is why at the moment it's Tim's awesome twin V8, and you've won it in the past with your great large scale red Rod.

Your new one is in with a shout, what does anyone else think; Any other great new Rods out there?

WAIT!!! Before anyone else adds a rod with lambo doors...wait for me! I was horrified when Sharpspeed A95 posted 'little red'...totally a 'hot' rod, but I've got one similar, triple the size, and I was wondering how to get onto the 'elite' section of the rod club, if there is one. Also, while we're talking about ROTM, I guess Ape himself picks it...I'll put a link here if I ever get it up. I'm making a setting to photograph it in now, and it's taking a ton of pieces. The rod itself is done I guess, could use 3 more little tiny shifters... I guess I'll save my complaining for later. -matthew-

Hi Matthew. Well I always used to pick ROTM in the old Rod Club as there was no discussion feature back then (look how many clubs there are now! I guess we started something!), but now I'd much rather take suggestions from members!

The 'elite' section, or whatever you want to call it, is the old Rod Club format uploaded to here (as people couldn't add their own creations like they can now). Seeing as the Rod Club now accepts all sizes/quality of Rod this section remains for the best Rods on MOCpages.

The rules for this section are the same as the old Rod Club; medium scale upwards, higher than average quality of both model and pictures and made from real LEGO (no LDD).

If your new creation meets these requirements- it's in! : )

Looking forward to seeing the new creations, suggestions for ROTM welcome too (but as always, you can ask for your own to be ROTM but that doesn't mean you'll get it!)

Happy Rodding, A.F

I love it! Personally I think modded VeeDubs like yours, choppers, drag/funny cars all count as Rods, but only 'proper' Rods can be in the elite section (or else it would just get too big)- however anything in Rodding culture (like the above) are welcome in the club : ) it's great to have diversity! Hi Jacob, good point, it's probably due in the next few weeks.

Yes you definately do : ) - but don't expect to win straight away. Most members have never won ROTM (including me) but everyone stands a chance if they enter a Rod (or several!).

A few have won with their first Rod, some have won after a year or more in the club, and most haven't won at all, but of course still could.

Looking forward to seeing more from you, and everything you enter is automatically in the ROTM nominations - although be patient, your creations will get better and better (and more award-worthy) as your skills improve with practice

HI J.R

The club started about 15 months ago before MOCpages had a club feature - it was just a normal 'MOC' page on my site, with the best Rods on MOCpages listed just like they are now.

The list of comments was huuuge - there were no 'comments threads' back then.

It truth it was probably a bit cheeky of me - I broke two MOCpages rules:

1. Posting something that wasn't a MOC
2. Uploading other people's pictures

However, it soon became really popular and people were building creations to try and get them into the club, which was awesome!

When MOCpages added the 'groups' feature the club migrated to the new format, and I deleted the old MOC page. Sometimes I wish I hadn't, but nevermind.

And here we are today. The club is now a lot less exclusive, as anyone can add their creations (which has in a way diluted the club a bit as perhaps people are less 'proud' to be in it now). That's why we play hardball on the Elite section as that's the only bit left from the original page.

Now that MOCpages has millions of similar clubs the Rod Club is just another group in a vast list of average ones, which is a shame, but it was fun to know we started something - and the group has continued to grow every month.

Other clubs have since copied aspects of this one, including the ROTM award and the Elite listing, so we're not original any more. But we are the originator, and that feels pretty good : )

The first groups using the new format were created by Sean K (MOCpages' creator). I'm very grateful to Dylan Denton for creating this page so quickly after the new system went live. If it were left to me we'd probably be about no.340, despite technically this being the oldest group as it was around before the new system existed.

The club has now been updated with the latest offerings on MOCpages. Apologies it's taken a while!

We have 3 new Elite Rods (all at the bottom of the list - the new ones will always be added at the end now, rather than randomly spread throughout the section) from Patrick L, Tyler Reid and Jonathan Derksen, all Rod Club regulars.

Tyler also bags his second ROTM win for another one of his Rods, though this one was too small for the Elite Section.

Finally, thank you to all Rod Club members, admins and moderators!

Sorry for haven't post my "Chrismath Rod", but I haven't all parts I need for now, I gonna have some new pieces soon (maybe this week!),so I will be abble to post photos... BTW today, I will post a New Volksrod! (No Mega-blocks parts, very detailled, with functions,...) I would like you to comment it when I'll post and, maybe, it can give me the satisfaction to be a member of the "Elite Rods Section"!!! (I would love that!, pleeeeease!!!) :p

Looking forward to it : ) As long as it's medium scale or larger and meets your normal level of quality it'll be there : )

Hello Rodders

We welcome two new entrants into the Elite section, taking the total to 42!

Well done to Hot Rod, who's a brilliant contributer to the Rod Club and has been itching to get Elite status for a while. His excellent latest Rod earns him a place.

Well done to John A, who makes it into the Elite Section at his first attempt, with a brilliant Technic Hot Rod.

Also, we see a new Rod Of The Moment.

Hot Rod's wonderful Rat Fink remained at the top for a very long time, and was one of the best ROTMs we've ever had, but it's time for a new one, which goes to Vinny Turbo, for his simple, yet excellent, pair of tiny turbo style Rods. Well done to Vinny.

Merry Christmas to all group members! : )
