How to enter the Elite Rods section:
 Group admin
How to the Enter 'Elite Rods' section:

1. Build a Rod! There are no specific rules to making Rods, but the more realistic the better, so Google before you build and take your time. Remember: If you get inspiration from, or use part of, someone else's creation, state who made the original and where to find it.

2. Ensure your Rod qualifies. Entries must be medium scale upwards (except ROTM), 100% LEGOŽ, and above average MOCpages quality (both pictures and the creation itself).

3. Contact the Club. Add a comment and link to a discussion topic or add your creation to the top section of the club homepage. It's also good to comment on existing members' Rods- you get known easier and we like the feedback! Note: Please use the rating system wisely, we value honest ratings above perfect scores.

4. Visit the club homepage. If your Rod appears in the Elite Rods section; Congratulations! You are now an elite member!

Don't worry if your creation doesn't qualify; as long as it's a Rod we'd love to have it in the club! Several Rod Of The Moment winners have come from the top section too!

Sorry Jacob, we have to keep that section medium scale upwards if it's to stay elite.

However, the Rod of the Moment award is the most sought after part of the club, and that is open to all Rods, whether large-scale or small-scale.

To increase your chances try to copy the proportions and details of a real rod as accurately as you can, or make something totally original which we've not seen before (as long as it's still a Rod).Your Munster Coach is a great example of this!

I'm pretty sure the way you're going you'll get into the elite section or ROTM before long - be patient though, you're still new!

Looking forward to seeing more from you in the Club : )

Yup, you definately do. I've not got ROTM before, and plenty of people are waiting to get into the elite section too. For someone so new your creations are very good. Keep up the good building, and welcome to the club : )

Welcome to the Club Glenn! Nice MOC too : ) Unfortuantely it's not large enough for the Elite section (as that is for Medium scale and up - around 8-10 wide upwards really) but it is a great addition to the top section. Hope to see more from you!

I will have one to add soon. Its an AWD volksrod with an air cool Porsche flat six. I still havent decided if I want to make it a hard top or convertible. Its roughly 1/7.5 scale so its gonna be big.

Hi Glenn (and anyone who asks about the Elite section)

Sorry, but we really are quite strict on the sizes (and quality). This is for two reasons:

1. We want the Elite section to be the BEST rods on MOCpages, somewhere people aspire to get to, and have to work very hard to achieve it.

2. There are so many smaller scale rods on MOCpages we wouldn't be able to keep up with all the entries if we dropped the size restriction!

The club is much easier to enter now than it used to be. About a year ago there were no Groups on MOCpages and this club was just a normal creation page (i.e there was no way people could add their creations to it like they can now - people had to create a Rod and request that their picture be uploaded if it was good enough).

Now of course, the club is a MOCpages Group (maybe we helped start the whole Group thing!) and anyone can upload their creations and become a Rod Club member.

This is awesome because we get so many cool Rods in the top section added every week (like yours!), which we could never have got in the old format.

However, the Elite section remains as tough to get into as ever - that's what makes it Elite. It might take a MOCcer a very long time to make something that qualifies, either because they are quite new to building and need to develop their skill, they don't have enough parts / build in LDD, or their pictures aren't good enough.

That said, we LOVE all the rods in the top section too; they help make up the Club's vibrant variety of creations (and hopefully make us one of the best Groups on the site!).

All creations, whether the top section or the Elite section, can win Rod of the Moment (our last 2 ROTMs haven't been from the Elite section).

It does seem like there are a few new builders on MOCpages building small scale rods - maybe enough for a rod-off between the best small scale builders on MOCpages? If enough people are interested we can run a competition - but I'll leave it to you to round up the troops - the club doesn't have enough time to send messages out inviting people, but it will support it if a competition is set up : )

I was wondering what the most popular Rods were in the club, and then realised you can find out by clicking the 'most popular' tab, doh!

Anyway, incase anyone's interested the most popular Rods in the club are:

- 5th: One of our Admins, Patrick L, with his 'Golden Nugget'
- 4th: Another Admin, Dylan Denton, with 'White Hot'
- 3rd: Some bloke called Ape Fight, with a Rat Rod
- 2nd: Apple Pie with four (yes, four!) Rods - he can sure get clicks!

And the winner...

...with his first and only Rod (he wins everything he enters!!), Firas Abu Jaber's stunning Volksrod.

It's interesting to see that some of the best Rods in the club aren't in the top 10 though, and some lesser ones are.

Ok all - the Elite section has undergone the long awaited update, moving from 'rods' to 'members', as it was getting much too difficult to update.

The rules to qualify for this section remain the same, only the standard has been increased slightly.

Welcome to the Rod Club! Unfortunately your creations are too small for the Elite section (please see the rules) - however as they're so good you were made a Moderator : ) This is harder to get than into the Elite section, and it's nice to finally have a small scale Rod builder on the team.

The quality is definitely good enough : ) MOCpages is too slow at the moment but I will add it. Your Rod is right on the edge of what a 'rod' is though - as it's very wide and low - like a modern supercar, but different can be good - just note you couldn't stray much further if you build another one!

Hi Devin

Welcome to The Rod Club!

It's a very nice rod (as is your Red Beauty) - but... you need to take some better pictures for us to include it in the Elite section (e.g. on a plain white or black background).

The best way to do this is buy some card or use paper, or put it against a plain wall.

Good luck!

The 'Elite' Section has now been frozen, and as such no new members will be added.

It contains 50 members at the point of closure, and as such shows the top 50 Rod builders active in the 5 years from 2008 and 2013.

Many thanks to all who have contributed, whether successful in becoming 'Elite' (and now forever in the Top 50) or not you made this group one of the most successful MOCpages has ever seen.
