Home Depot. Hands down.

No. Too big. Common sense tells me that clearly any modern day middle class house hold is solid. Now... if you are someone like me (who would spend money on a personal architect to make my blueprints) would design their home like this....

Bottom floor: Unimportant things. A garage.... a kitchen... living room.

Second floor: My stairs would be retractable. That would... well keep away zombies. Duh. No need really to worry much about barricading. just pull them up. Zombies can't do anything. SIMPLE! So.... I would have a bedroom (good sleep=good morale!) A closet filled with canned food and other non-perishables. Two bathrooms (two tubs to fill with water) All windows would have shutters, and I would never use any light. That would make it so they wouldn't notice me.... and you know... I would own guns. Not that I would ever need to use them. As long as I keep out of sight....

and my cat just puked on the new rug. Shoot.

P.S A pawnshop has normally two floors, because the owner often lives upstairs. So, as Max Brooks says, the stairs can be destroyed. Thus, no zombies. Not to mention, if it is one floor, then as long as you have minimum windows, and a secure barricade, then you are all set. Warehouses are not very good exactly because of why one would believe that they are better. Space and material. I am not sure if anyone saw Diary of the Dead, another George Romero movie. But, there is a scene with people hiding out in a warehouse. One zombie sneaked in and then they started freaking out, this is because there was infinite space and infinite material! Boxes! Boxes! Ahhhhh... it was a freaking maze, thus.... warehouse=bad.

gosh, getting a bit defiant, eh? Think about it. With all of that lumber and tools, you could easily barracade anything. you could build alarm systems. and in a large place, you would hear the echos of the zombie grunting and stuff. You also have plenty of chainsaws and riding mowers. It wouldn't be a bad place to be.

a chainsaw would be good,for a while.....
the blade dulls in' stuff.
but a chainsaw is good for scaring off human marauders and looters who may try to steal your supplies,or your girl.
my warehouse sucks,i can do better.
but i ran out of bricks for the roof ,walls and most of my minifigs are fighting vekens at the moment.

Look at it this way, depending on if you use your resources well, then either location would be equally safe. But two stories is always the way to go, and many warehouses are two storied.

A school, or a bunch of tree houses in the woods with stairs that zombies can't climb up. ZOMBIES CAN'T CLIMB!!! (unless they learn to, witch would come in the future zombie apoc.)

You don't need guns to kill zombies, also YOU have a machete?, you learn something new every day. I take it everyone here has read either z-day or zombie survival guide, right?

Good idea, don't do everything by the book, besides the best zombie is a dead zombie (yes I do know they are technicly dead anyway but you know what I mean)

A headless zombie is what you are trying to say.

Then we would grab our guns and flashlights and see if it is a zombie hoard, or just a wild animal.
