No Swearing Please
I've noticed a bit of swearing on mocpages.
Saying cuss words and other things. I have enough of it at school so enough is enoough.
If you are moved by this please post a reply.
I want to stop this on mocpages now. I mean not even LEGO nerds can have some class. Especially the older ones.

Well, you act like you're 8. And at least he can build.

The problem is that "bad words" is relative. There are some that people shouldn't use because their meanings are vulgar or simply don't apply (f***in' is not a useful adjective 99.8% of the time), but others are just alternate words for things we already say ("crap" is fine but "s***" isn't). Ideally, nobody should be offended by a choice of a word, only it's meaning. Unfortunately, many people WANT their words to shock, so if an old cuss word loses it's offensiveness, they'll just make or use new words that are more explicit.

However, there's another side to the issue where I find myself. I am not offended by words themselves, but I don't use the mainstream "cuss words" because I believe in being considerate. I know people are offended by them, and there are more creative words that make more sense, so I don't use them. I also know that if you're exposed to any language a lot, you start to pick it up (especially when my brain isn't fully developed, me being 17). Since I don't want to pick it up, I tend to avoid things that have cuss words in excess.

Last I checked, you were not Keith Goldman, so why the random outburst? Calling somebody else a bad builder just to shut them up is lame. In fact, (now this is ironic) you're acting like an 8-year-old.

Wow Will. I can't believe you. Googoo is actually pretty mature. He also CAN build!

Googoo can build, but to a much less degree. And no I'm not Keith Goldman. How deductive of you.

Just checked out GooGoo's page, and, yes, he can build. Since I know you're a Christian, Will, I'd suggest thinking about what Jesus would do before you post something from now on. And I mean that sincerely.

That's exactly what my blatant honesty did to you Will. Sorry. Will, I'm also sorry if this comes across wrong, but Tracy's right. You are acting immeture and you're calling people less that what they really are. Sorry If this is too much to handle, but Tracy beat you. I think you just have some difficulties accepting loss. It's understandable though. I can see why. However, just try accepting your losses with both me and Tracy. It'll be much more beneficial than denial.

I'm sorry, but you can't claim a victory because of a difference of opinion. I think GooGoo has some building skills, but not a lot. Unlike Goldman. That is MY opinion, so stop trying to argue it.

You keep fixating on issues that are irrelevant. Do you really think we're talking about how good GooGoo is? No. We're talking about how mean you are for no reason. We all know you're dancing around the issues and you're only proving our point about your immaturity by doing so.

Even if GooGoo was the lamest, crappiest, most worthless builder of all time, what you did would still be out of line. You slammed his abilities as a builder when the issue was Keith Goldman's use of offensive language. THAT is a major sign of immaturity, and you're not doing yourself or Jesus any favors by acting this way. If you can't act in a loving, mature way, it would be better to just stay off the internet for a while until you learn what's really important. And I mean that with no disrespect. That's something I had to do. I used to be a real jerk.

Fine. You may take my remark as rude, I don't care. But it's my honest, frank opinion. If you can't handle other peoples' opinions, you're the one who shouldn't be on the internet. And I stand by what I said. Googoo isn't 1/10th the builder of Goldman. I'm being completely, 100% honest. Deal with it.

No Will, I claim victory because I know that I've won. You made false accusations of me, you came up with some sad attempts to try and counter me, and I've countered every last thing you've said. I know that you'll only look at it in absolutes as opinion vs opinion, but If you were to look at it deeply, you'd see that my opinions outweigh yours. I'm not trying to sound arrogant, but it's to the point where you can't simply measure the situation as traditional opinion. It's like comparing mud to chocolate. You know people will prefer chocolate's taste over mud's. However, it's an opinion by definition, but it becomes a better opinion by common sense and logic. Even if it's defined as just an opinion, it still remains correct. Sometimes definition is broken and one opinion can outweigh the other. That's why I believe I've won Will.

And for that same reason [my arguement being better than yours], I believe I've won. But I don't care what you believe. So in my opinion, my opinions outweigh yours. But I don't try to convince you of that, because I know I won't be able to. Now forever hold your peace.

A Christian cares about whether they're rude or not. I've already tossed the fact that you're honest aside because nobody asked for the opinion in the first place. You can go up to somebody who has a disformity in his face and say honestly "Your face is hideous and mine looks better" and it would be wrong. If he insisted that you gave him an honest assessment, then it wouldn't be wrong, (although, in that situation, I personally would just say that it didn't matter). GooGoo didn't ask for an opinion about his MOCs, so it was wrong.

Here's a question. Do you think you did the RIGHT thing? No, you don't. Believe me, I know how tempting it can be to really slam somebody. In fact, if it's on TV, it can even be hilarious, but you've told the world you're a Christian and people judge Jesus by what you do. It would be sooo much easier if you just didn't say you were a Christian, wouldn't it? That's why I made sure to say that I'm a Christian on my page. Knowing it's there keeps me in line.

LOL! You wanna go ahead and look back at our argument? It's not a matter of believing that yours or my opinion is better; it's a matter of knowing mine outweighed yours. It sounds so brunt, but it's still the truth. I've considered everything you've had to say without bias, and I've still come up with the result that I've one. The only reason I want you to admit it is because I want you to accept it with honor. I want you to grow from it, and also if you admit it, maybe there'd be less tension and maybe you'd give me the respect I deserve. I know that if you feel you've one, you will not respect me. You'll act all high and mighty. I won't allow that. I don't care that you don't repeat it in to me. We have different methods. I really just want respect and for you to grow up a bit. (I mean that sincerely.) That's why I repeat it. Not just for your acknowledgment of my victory. I only want you to admit it because it will help me know whether or not you have accepted it and gained some respect for me.

Plus, if you admit you're wrong, you'll gain the respect of everyone reading this. It's very hard to admit fault, but it's a sign of strength and maturity, not weakness.

Thank you! However, I'm not sure you'll ever be able to stress this point enough too Will. Trust me, I've tried and still am. And No Will, I'm not trying to gain any bias or support from Tracy. I'm just agreeing with him and warning him. So don't jump to conclusions on my intent. You need to quit expecting the worst in people. I'm a man of integrity. Just trust what I'm saying.

Him and I should probably create a private group for it, but we're too lazy. Well. at least I am. Plus it would be a pretty rediculous group to make if we'll just argue.

Tracy and Phong: By joining and adding creations to MOCpages, you are asking for input from other builders. If you don't like someone's opinion, but it is a constructive one, it doesn't mean it's neccesarily "wrong". My opinion versus yours is going to differ on most everything. However, I do not give mean, unconcstructive opinions. I give reasons for my opinions, but you may not agree with those reasons. To you, your opinion then may outweigh mine, but that is in your opinion. Please try to understand. And I don't give "it s-cks" reviews to GooGoo, or anyone else. In fact, I have given him positive reviews on more than one occasion. This is my point: when you come to the conclusion that your opinion outweighs my opinion, you are forming another opinion. Your newly formed opinion about our differing opinions may make perfect sense and be "right" to you, but not to someone else. Do you two now understand what I'm saying?

Alright, that's it. I'm shutting this topic down. It had little relvance to begin with and now it has degraded into petty bickering. If you guys want to argue about who's more immature, go ahead, but you will not be doing so on these boards.

This behavior will not be tolerated, I'm not going to take action now, but if this happens again, I'm sure Pete will back me up when I boot whoever started it.

Furthermore, if anyone has a problem with my intervention here, you can take it up with me.
