Hello and welcome to the Bionicle Display's first Bio-BuildOff-Athon.

This contest is open to all Bionicle builders. Even if you think your skills may not be that great, you may surprize yourself.
None the less join up and who knows how amazing you can be!

Bio-BuildOff-Athon Guidelines, please read.
Contest set up and how it will work.

~1) To start it off there will be an entry round where contestants enter a creation. This is to show that everyone who enters, understands the guidelines. If by the due date there is an odd number of contestants, the entry round will end when one more contestant enters and it becomes and even number of contestants.

~2) Each round after will be a contestant versus contestant elimination round with a theme to build to.

~3) Each round will be 5 days. On a Monday a theme will be announced, builders have until Friday night at 12 midnight MocPages time to submit. If their submission is dated for the Saturday or is not submitted at all, they will be disqualified and their opponent wins by default.
~4) Saturday and Sunday will be for the judges to vote on one person of the pairings.

~5) The contest will run for as long as it will take until there are only two remaining contestants who will go head to head in the most challenging theme the judges can come up with. The winner will then gain bragging rights to being the winner of the second Bio-BuildOff-Athon.

For the contestants, when submitting a creation you need to follow the following guidelines for it be acceptable.

~1) It has to be a new creation not a previously built one.

~2) This is a Bionicle focused competition, but other forms of Lego is allowed to be used sparingly. If because Lego ’bricks’ are used in such a way it distracts from the Bionicle creation, you may not be favoured.

~3) Photoshop and parts modification is not allowed. We are looking at the skills of using Bionicle pieces and the imagination of builders to achieve the theme.

~4) White screens are suggested but not necessary. It’s the Moc we will be looking at not your photography skills, but it has to be clear enough to see the creation clearly.

~5) When you submit your entry you need to include these for it to be acceptable:
-A. When uploading your creation please have it titled “Bio-BuildOff-Athon Round(the number of the round you are entering) Vs (Your Opponent’s Name)
-B. At the top of your description please include a link to your Opponent’s Home Page as well as the round topic page, and a copy of the theme’s description.
-C. In the Round’s topic post a link to your submission as well as the name of your opponent.

~6) As long as it is following the theme, any form of creation is accepted. You’re encouraged to not just show off your building abilities but all of your creative imagination.

~7) Only post in a round topic if you are submitting an entry. All other posts will be deleted. If you wish to make comments or ask questions please do in the Discussion topic for the contest.
~8) Look to previous Round topics for examples of proper submissions.

For the judges to equally understand their duties.

~1) Themes will be decided in turn by the judges for when they start a round. Judge number one picks, then next round judge number two, then three and repeat.

~2) On the Monday after voting the next judge in turn will create a new topic labelling it Bio-BuildOff-Athon Round (number of round). The winners of the weekend voting will then be randomly pared and listed.

~3) The round topics will be structured as followed.
(Theme for the round. It is both a challenge to build the best as well as to come up with your own interpretation of the theme if it is not a familiar one to you.)
(Any further explanation for the theme if the Judge wishes to.)
(list of pairings for this round. This is to be made in any way so that it is purely random, this ensures fairness to all contestants)

~4) On the Saturday due date and Sunday if need be, each judge must vote on one person of the pairings in an obvious way. This way only one of the two contestants will be a clear winner and no ties are possible.

If it isn't as it came from the set originally it's modified. Not counting aged of course.
The point is to use Bionicle pieces we all have access to if we each bought set's now and then.
That way it comes down to the skill of builder and not the unique pieces they have.

In any case I wish you luck and that you have a fun time.

The guidelines explain the contest and how the rounds will work. Each round has a theme, you need to built to the theme. Please look over the guidelines closer, it should clear things.

If I use photoshop just to make the background pure white to see the MOC more clearly, would that count as cheating?

I don't believe so, as it's not an alteration of the MOC itself. But it might be easier to photograph it on something white anyway.

I will agree to this being allowed. As the rule about photoshoping is directed to effects used to 'help' a creations image and appeal, which I feel take away from the details shown in the creation by the builder. If it's just a white screen replacement that is fine. Be careful though that it has clean edges and so forth as to not distract from the creation itself.

Sorry but the Entry Round is now over. But do not worry since only 4 people signed up there will be 2 more rounds. After that the contest will most likely start again. So be patient and enjoy the match ups to get a feel for the contest =D

All of this is explanable by looking over the previous contest but I'll give you the links and Guideline peices to help you.

"~2) Each round after will be a contestant versus contestant elimination round with a theme to build to."

"~2) On the Monday after voting the next judge in turn will create a new topic labelling it Bio-BuildOff-Athon Round (number of round). The winners of the weekend voting will then be randomly pared and listed."

It may be a good idea to make a new thread for BBOA2 discussion. This one is getting really crowded. Also, it would clear up some of the confusion regarding the rules.
