BD contest: Bionicle Combiners!
 Group admin
The new BD contest: Bionicle Combiners!

What is a Bionicle Combiner?
Simple, it's either a Bionicle creature composed of many smaller creatures, or a group of Bionicles combining to form a bigger hombre.
-Example-
http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/196794

And this time, with an ACTUAL prize: after a long debate with my other selves about which set would be an appropriate award, I GAVE UP and rooted for...
a $20 LEGO Gift Card!
http://shop.lego.com/GiftCards/GiveGiftCard/
You can use it online or in any LEGO Store!

RULES
1: Time frame - The contest will start April the 12th and will end May the 15th at midnight, MOCpages time. You can start building whenever you like, but entries posted in MOCpages outside this time frame will be void.
2: Size - each of the combiners can't be larger than 10 inches in any direction (horns/wingspan excluded), but the combined creature can be any size you want.
3: Presentation - The pictures must be clear and taken in front of a clean background. This is needed to help the Judges do their work.
4: Technique - the combiners can't be deconstructed/modified to fit in the combuned form, they can only be linked together by pins/axles/connectors or they can simply grab onto each other.
5: Entries - only 1 (one) entry for each person. If you post more, you lose them all.
6: Parts - this contest leans towards the "purist" side of MOCing. Keep non-Bionicle and modified parts to the minimum possible and avoid non-LEGO issued pieces altogether.
7: Playability - your entry must be able to combine and separate, pretty much like a combining Transformer would do.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: if you are underage and want to compete, you need to show your parents this page, and ask their permission to send me an address where to send your prize in case you win.
Further details will be posted when the winner is announced.

The official entry page is now open

If you have any pertinent questions, ask them here.

How many bionicles are allowed to combined into one?
| April 9, 2010, 3:56 pm
All rightyyy...I have several skeletons of questions floating about my mind...Well here's one, must the combined MOC be able to split into it's combiners? Another, I doubt this but, do the combiners have to be actual sets or your own creations? I think my favorite part of this contest will be seeing the other entries...

Of course if your combiners can assemble into one, it shouldn't be difficult to separate them again...
And I WON'T dignify your second question with an answer.

Haha, yeah, thought not, I was just checkin'. Hmmm...So, say if you made a combine-ee, and one of it's combiner's had a head, while the other did not. Is that allowed? Must you have rather essential limbs and body parts on both combiners?

Essentially each combiner should be suitable as a MOC itself... http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/196794

The answer to this question is most likely in the rules already, and I'm just not reading them carefully enough, but I'll ask anyway. Can the individual combiners transform (like devastator) into small parts of the larger combination or is transforming considered "modifying"? Brain melted yet? :)

Yes they can! As long as you don't need to disassemble them in order to transform them :)
Hey, an I wrong or you're getting pretty into this?

Ahhhhh, confuzzled!!! So in light off Jason's question, if they weren't to "transform" into the components, then how would they be "combiners" without being disassembled? I mean, would there be a different way than having each transform...?

*EDIT* Well I think I know what you mean now about "it" not having to transform, I've built mine, and it's pretty good, all in all, but if I'm still a bit confused, so tellz me anywayz, mwah hah hah!

Oh my god! I have been working nearly the whole day, crouched over my black and gold pieces, assembling an entry. It is 6:39 PM in Vermont, I just finished my would-be "entry", when I checked the size of the larger of my combiners and guess what? It was two inches over the limit!!! So I guess it's fine, I had fun anyways, now I'm gonna go start building a new entry...

For couple days I built a combiner, though it was rather odd and on the half-way I had a new idea. I did finish the first one, but today I piled up another combiner which will be my official entry. I'll post it tomorrow if the camera still has batteries left ;)

Maybe I post the first one too (not as an entry), just for fun, and it can be another example. =p

If it's just a decoration, you can put it under "horns/wingspan" and leave it at that, or if it's a kind of a "hidden weapon" which rests folded until used, that's OK too.
On the other hand, if it's a workable limb, its natural position can't make your model exceed the size limit.

a few questions 1: when the smaller mocs combine to form the larger moc, does the larger moc have to be smaller than 1o inches all around?. 2: where do the entries get posted? i had already made two combiner mocs before one would be devil dog http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/179369
and the sizzeling serpenthttp://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/188731
that i believe would have been able to be entries after measuring but i added them before the starting date which means i cant then :(, but i cant remake them the way they were since i took apart magmahound and doubleshooter. i will still try to post an entrie though.

You mean if you're uploading a page and you want large pictures? Well, when you click the button to upload pictures, a screen pops up where you have to select the pictures you want to use. On the bottom of that screen is a few options for your pictures: normal, large, and some others (I don't really remember). Just click on 'Large' and then upload your pictures. And that's it.
