A shortcut is folding additional limbs around the body to make them look like armor. But check that it's not too bare when the extra limbs are unfolded.

I agree with the abyss (yes I do know who you are) if you post them in big groups, more people will have easy access to them, and you'll get more views!

For me I have always use this formula.
Build quality 20%
Originality 25%
Color MOC coordination 10%
Page Presentation 10%
Picture Quality 15%
Main Page picture 10%
Group posting 5%
Reputation Bonus

As you can see above the moc is just 55% for me, the rest are equally important.

i has a question, How can you use music effectively in your MOCs?

Adding music is best for setting the mood for your page. You can do this manually by copy and paste of the embed code of a youtube video or a music link. You can also do this automatically by modifying the embed code. I think one time I intentionally successfully tested placing an auto music on the main page of which I was going remove in a few hours. Yuri removed it before I could and placed the embed code example in a post somewhere. You get the hint I hope... hehe

A very good example of how music makes a page work is my page on my Halloween Gremlin
http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/162892
It uses two embeded music. One is Silent Night(scary mode) and one is from the theme from Halloween movie. Both when combined sets the scary mood to compliment when you read the story.

Warning: Not everyone is for autoplay. Some people listen to music when they browse while autoplay sometimes slows down page upload for those with slower bandwidth.

I've seen mocs where they posted the entire you Tube music video onto their page, will that always happen if you take he embedded code, or is that just a way to avoid the autoplay lag problem?

Ok I have visited your page myself.
These are my observation. I hope you would have an open mind when I give comments.
Build quality : With regards to build quality, you need to be somewhat different. Toas are the hardest because parts are limited but you can still design a better build quality than the usual commercial set type.
Originality: While some of your mocs do have originality, some are just builds that are easy to build. Try this: build two or more features in your future moc that has never been attempted before. Its a risk. Some might like it and some might not. What's important is try and its original.
Color MOC coordination: I don't think you have much problem here.
Page Presentation: Be original as well in your page construction. Just posting pictures will not do. A good unique story helps. Its not wise to direct people to just go to youtube or flicker.
Picture Quality: This is one are you need to improve on. A good contrast background is very important. A dark colored moc with a dark background taken without flash and sharp resolution doesn't help entice people. Personally, I don't like very close up shot where you show just a few parts because its hard to comprehend. Full body or half body shots of different poses are the best. Learn to know which sides of your moc looks best and highlight it by taking more pictures of it at that angle.
Main Page picture: Never post only the mask of your moc or just a close up. A moc is just not only the mask. Its the total build. Choose your best clear picture with a good contrast clean background. As you know the main pics is reduced in thumbnail size when it is posted so choose wisely.
Group posting: I think you can manage that.
Reputation: This will take time. As you post more impressive mocs, your reputation will likewise improve. This will add additional ratings. Just look at Yuri, he can just posted what he got from Christmas and... hehe.

If you copy and paste the embedded code of youtube, the whole video is copied and there is no autoplay. Autoplay(with video or just sounds) needs a modified html code. You can also add sounds by integrating sound files instead of youtube videos. This makes it easier to load.

okay, sorry I'm not a techy, how exactly do I get a modified html code? Because I definitely want auotplay, if not for others, at least for myself, and copying thew whole video seems a little sloppy, so what do I do, just a short description, to get a modified code, and use that for autoplay? Thanks a bunch if you would reply, and thanks a bunch for replying to my first question!

There is an easier way then adding 'hidden=true', just do height and lenght 0

Use other colors for the other limbs, and try do replace some of the black pieces used in the body by some equal but of different color, that way the body will blend more well with his limbs.

I have one:whats the best way of making a white background?
| January 2, 2010, 8:53 pm
Well if you're good with computers than you can edit out the background, but that's a hassle. If you aren't good, don't attempt it'll just look bad, I know from personal experience. I just use two white cutting boards, those work pretty well, here's an example: http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/172788
You can use a sheet if that's all that's big enough, but for the cleanest finish photo editing works if you can do it well! Hope this helps!

There's another big key to having a popular MOC: Keywords. If you have a MOC with as popular keyword, the Moc will be found in searches more often.

More searches does not really translate to more views nor does it help in getting more ratings. I am more agreeable if your moc is placed as the "moc of the day" or "what's popular for the day" and for the week" or "most discussed" including in "Across mocpages". Of course before you can get there you would need some people to like your moc and give a rating. And don't even think of spamming or asking someone to spam to give a rating...

Although you make a good point, I stand by my opinion. There are many other ways of getting recognition though of course. Always think DIFFERENT from other people. Try different styles, techniques, and ideas. People like to see different.

I'm probably one of those people that dislike autoplaying songs. For one, I'm usually listening to my own music anyway, but mainly I tend to open up multiple mocs at the same time for viewing, so you can imagine my annoyance for them.

That said, if they are vital for setting the mood, have the ability to pause them at the start so that when the time comes to view them, they can start them at their leisure. It might be good also to have the controls at the top, so they wouldn't have to scroll all the way down, pause, then scroll up to start reading etc. I will admit that I've missed on a few marvelous creations due to this.

Okay, what is a good way to build a beast-like head that is the same size as a Kanohi? A detailed head, very animal-ish, but small...? Any good techniques, especially for small teeth?

A small beast-like head as small as a Kanohi? That's very hard. You may need to combine some small system and technic parts to pull this off.

You might even want to use lego parts in it too. I ended up using a large amount of legos in my THE FALLEN. Check it out! http://mocpages.com/moc.php/140462

Try using a technique like they did on Hydraxon, or on Toa Mata Nui (Titan)

Basic princables, if you need to make small hands or other small parts you need to use small pieces. Some good ones are those small bionicle arms and hands from the play sets (under sea attack, deep sea patrol etc), the most advice I can give you is just experiment with small piece until you get a cool and original design. Hope this helped!
i`ve recently perfected my own design. give me credit and your free to use it...if i ever get it up :P

OK, i have three questions,

#1: How do I make fingers? (I don't have those ''T'' pieces in Hydraxon's hands and I don't have enough of the Titan Mata Nui fingers.)

#2: How do I make body pistons? (AKA moveable torso)

#3: What can i make with Skopio X-V1's treads other than treadmills?

Thanks.
