Hey nice creations. Sadely alot of the groups these days are more about submiting creations than conversations. This one has quited down recently.
But if I want to start a large Bio-BuildOff competetion to change that.

Lol, this topic thread was at the bottom of a very long list, never been used, since there were other threads more relevant to whatever was going on at the time. Funny that I left it unlocked the other day when i was cleaning up in the hopes someone would start using it for its original purpose.

They started off well but died off do to lack of continues organized/dedicated build offs. Which is why I figure a planned out large elimination round based one would be more popular.

Just a tip: If you're trying to get known on the Pages, capital letters and punctuation should help. :)

You where hit with an earthquake? Yikes. Any property damage?

And I second that, I've been busy with the flu and a few other projects. One getting ready to go to an anime convention this coming weekend.
Do not worry I will start the Bio-BuildOff-Athon as planned on the 28th

I hope everything's ok over there. I haven't been hit by any natural disasters here but there have been cyclones, floods and fires in states and areas all around me...

The world is meant to end in 2012 right? Maybe this is the post-apocalyptic stage ;P

Anyways, all the best!

If you count an entire city in ruins then yes, we got property damage. House is fine, few cracks here and there, got some silt ejection that makes our backyard into a small beach, or a large catbox.

Heh yeah I'm on the island and we're suppose to sink into the ocean when the next big one hits BC.

As for advice, well most people we know and ourselves have a plastic container full of water and canned food that can feed us for a couple of weeks easy.
Our street once got snowed in a few years back and the town had shut down for a day so that scarred the neiborhood to prepare.
Batteries, flashlights, radios and ect as well.

The world is a constantly moving and changing surface that as a human race have come to the notion, that we can just plop down someplace and hold it forever. This view is wrong as the plates are always growing from volcanic lines and subjecting back into the mantel. Not to mention the artificial changes we've done to the environment to unbalance it severely (blame the industrial revolution for most of it)
I personally doubt something of significance will happen on the 2012 day. Just encase me and my friends are going to pitch in for a limo, go to restaurants and bars and party it up. Hopefully nothing like the Hangover.
But I do feel that something world changing is due or that natural events are becoming fiercer and fiercer either do to an earthly cycle or effects by the human race.

Also to Chris. When life turns your backyard into a beach, you make a sandcastle.

Is anyone else here bugged by the fact that in the MOCpages directory, you can list an MOC as almost any specific model of Star Wars spaceship in existence but we bio-MOCers don't even get basic classifications such as "Toa" and "Rahi"? I see WAY more Bionicles around the Pages than Star Wars models. Just saying.

I've always felt that the star wars section in particular was overly favored. The various sci-fi ships is understandable. Agreed that there are many (or just a few generic) different types of Bionicles that we should be able to categorize into.

So, Cheesy, instead of posting it in an actual topic with nothing to do with the subject, you could just post it in the group page (theres a "add your own" button for this job)... So, I'll have to delete this comment, ok? Besides, you already got 89 comments on it, I guess its more than enough...

What have I been missing? Looks like nothing. Even though I've been absent from here for a few months (one of the reasons of losing my bookmarks due to Firefox not working) I can only wonder in my honest words: What happened here?

I would suggest we would try to slowly prepare for the summer, planning a contest or something and just trying to reactivate the group's activity. Towards the summer many of us will have more free time I believe and we should use that time for a reactivation in this group. It would be such a pity for this group to die.

I'd like to have again here all the nice discussions like before.

I agree the fact that Krakua is canon and the ones posted here aren't. But I think that's really an unnecessary argument you're giving, because the ones posted here do not try to prove themselves to be canon. They're fan-made creations, also likely placed into another universe or timeline. I don't think any official character would have copyright to their element either. So it's not any different than creating an unofficial toa of fire aside sonics.

So dude: Chill. Have a cookie and milk.

OK I'm back after being in short hiatus because of my busy work schedule.

Anyway, just got back Beijing for a week vacation. I went to the silk market where they sell all kinds of counterfeits from bags, watches , shoes. I go inside this toy stores and find so many kinds of Lego bionicle imitations as well. Prices are just around 20 to 40 percent of original Lego price. Anyway, I see some heroes 2( they spell HERO) lol imitation and try buy after haggling 2 HERO sets for just 2 dollars each. After I get back to the hotel, my son assembles the sets and I see the quality.

They are just one half size of the original Lego heroes sets. HAha! Some parts are even loose while it lacks the sharp details of the originals.

I wonder why Lego has not taken legal action against such counterfeits in China or if they gave license to the toy company to copy why allow it to be copied with an inferior quality. LOL.

Lego lost their copyright license a few years back.
They have been known to shut down the companies that literally repackage Lego pieces and sell it as something different.

How does LEGO loose their copyright design worldwide patents on fairly new HEROES 2 designs? I doubt that. They still sell LEGO and the real ones in China until now.

I doubt that they don't patent their new designs or else mega block can just copy it if is successful.

Ahh yes, I've seen images of those knock offs, but it's hard to police those things on an international scale. Even if you do take them to court and close them down, another one will just pop right up in their place. Patents don't mean a thing. But I don't think TLG are too concerned over it. The loss is probably non existent.

*glares at NoWhereMan* >_@

Anyway, things put simple, after lego lost the copyright to the bricks, now absolutely anyone can produce them freely without copyright issues, therefore creating competition with worse quality products that are cheaper and under 'different' brand.

I find it really disturbing that there's a time limit for a copyright and apparently it cannot be renewed. I think it would be more fair that it would follow the aging of the inventor/company and would stop only if the company dies. Or that the copyright owner could repurchase it around the time limit.

What I don't understand is if china toy store copies, why not copy the entire thing including the Lego logo. Instead they put their own name and description with exact the same products, Herofactory, Bioncles, ninjago. This makes me think that Lego gave them the rights to copy the products but not the brand Lego.

Well, copying the Lego logo will just get them into a whole heap of trouble, and products created should have the company's (the copier) own logo to it anyway. As for rights to the design, that becomes irrelevant to countries that aren't strict on patented design laws. They're all just there to make a quick buck with second rate copies.

Show off in the right places. I would say that builders often advertise their creations to produce the maximum number of statistics. They do better when advertised in the right places. And I don't just mean on MOCPages alone.

Frankly I don't care too much about stats, as often they can be deceptive at the true value.

"Something worth seeing" is relative. People will want constructive criticism so they know that they're headed in the right creative direction.

I will say that most of the members in this group (at least the active ones anyway) have things to show, and it's up to us as their peers to help them along as such.

Well, I gues it finally happened.

The oldest Bionicle group on MOCpages has went dead.

Goodbye Bionicle Display, your activeness will be missed....

Not dead yet. I think the BioCup and other contests are taking over some of the activity, especially of this group's leaders.

Yeah I'm still here, watching. I agree with Chronos. I would like to see a small contest here after the Biocup, to sort of cool down.

Good idea. :)

If the group dies all the way, well, we might have to send in someone with the Ignika to restart it...

Oh trust me, it'll take a lot more than being turned into pure energy to restart a giant robot, to stop me. Besides, I've died worse ways...

I don't even want to know...

I'm up for the contest after the bio-cup. Sounds fun.

Blah, blah, blah... keeping this group active... blah, blah, blah... using mask of life (AKA mask of talking)... blah, blah, blah (BTW a legostore opened near my house a few days ago and I met a master builder. He gave me a free set. :). The line to get into the store was way out the door! I had to wait for 30 minutes! :)

Thirty minutes is nothing. I waited five hours out side the small Lego store when it opened here. I met a masterbuilder but I got nothing except the evil eye, I don't think he liked me. I also helped build the eight foot yoda statue that he was working on, (I made a large scale brick for it... Woo hoo) then once inside they overcharged us for the sets we bought but I guess thats just how it goes...

Well, since you brought it up, would you like to head a new contest here?

Though in order to do so, I will have to bestow upon you magical powers the likes of which you've never seen, except the last time when I did the other emergency mod promotions...

So what say you? Willing to take on the responsibility just as others have done before you and change your destiny? or will you wait with the others, forever wondering just what may happen...

Don't die! Honestly, though, I think a lot of it is that so many contests are going on that there's no real reason do discuss here in particular. And there's still a good flow of MOCs, so it's not like this is a dusty old tomb. Far from it.

Erm, I'd be honored, but I would want to see if a contest in one of my dead groups goes through or not. Last time I started a contest, not much interest was generated. I'll try it after the Bio-Cup though!

Quoting ROBOCOP603 MASTER OF BLACK HOLES
I am two parts away from completing my smaller version of Makuta Teridax! [Smaller meaning smaller than the original version, but with more mobility.] I only need four more black technic ball joint with axle hole pieces! After that moc I will most likely buy a Makuta Icarax set and a Sidorak set along parts from a few others and I will make a more epic looking Icarax! After that I'm going to slowly work on making the truly massive version of Makuta Teridax! [I technically have two Makuta Teridax sets right now, but I will never take apart my Teri mocs! However I do happen to have left over pieces from one of them that will go towards the big one, plus today I just got my part lot of about 20+ pearl dark grey pieces for him! 0w0

Awesome, can't wait to see it. Didn't even know you could get those sets anymore.

Sigh... I don't think Australia have a proper lego store. I've discussed it with another Aussie moccer and the nearest one that looks like a Lego store isnt one and Its about a twelve hours drive!

I didn't think this group was really in any danger until the "bat signal" went up over at B.R.O. I guess I can be here to help then.

Okay guys, there is trouble here on MOCpages.

The first ever Bionicle group, Bionicle Display, is in danger of falling into silence. The group has almost went entriely dead.

I'd like you guys to go and join Bionicle display if you aren't already in it, and help it gain some activity!

http://www.mocpages.com/group.php/28

Go help out the premier Bionicle group on MOCpages! Join and be active there (and here in B.R.O. as well!)

Sorry. Couldn't help it XD

EDIT: there we go. Now I put it in proper quotes for MOCpages. XD

heheh, good ol' Kyle. Knows how to stir up the hive. ^_^

Honestly though, until things finish with the Bio-Cup, activity will be fairly sporadic (unless we start talking about random stuff). I think once the Bio-Cup is done, we'll be bringing back internal contests.

Random stuff! Have at thee!

Yup. I stirred up a hornet's nest. :3

Chris, I have a question about the Bio-Cup. I'm in the Horrifying Rahi category, and have a great idea of what to build. But the build sort-of involves me using tires, and probably lots of them. Would they be okay to use in excess (to cover up cinstruction of the model), or should I just stay away from using too many?

Depends on if we're all tired of seeing that technique used :P It's already been used once, albeit in a misunderstood manner, but I think if you were going to go about it, many of us will find them aesthetically pleasing. We trust your judgement to create something truly horrifying to us, like consistently incorrect grammatical errors... or scratching noises in a room where the light sources slowly diminish... the scratching... Ahhhhh!!!!111
