Hi All. I've found that when building a skyscraper, I usually run into a lot of design challenges. Sometimes I talk to my wife and her different perspective helps me build better. Would anybody be interested in entering into a friendly competition for building the same building. However, we would share ideas, build techniques, discuss possible solutions, and all end up with better buildings than if we all worked individually? I have an even crazier idea, but not being exactly sure where you all live,... I was thinking that we could even each only build a portion of the building, and then assemble it at a convention. I live on the east coast, and plan to go to BrickFair in August 2010 in the DC area at the Convention Center at Dulles Int'l Airport.
There's some pros and cons to this, but it could be an interesting side-project, one that would prevent me from amassing yet another skyscraper in my home, if we did a modular consortium thing, each only building one part. We could have a significantly taller bldg, and who knows, one of us may wish to buy out the other partner(s). I don't think anything like this has ever been done before, so that appeals to me, as well as the possibility of getting to disassemble my portion if nobody buys the other(s) out. Either way it's better for me. I get the enjoyment of building something BIG, get to share good ideas with other builders, and either sell my part, buy yours, or get to re-use the bricks again for another project, alleviating my space constraint at home.
