Removal of a 'censored' word
Join to comment
Hi Mods

Sorry for starting another topic about the censor system, the other one is locked.

Anyways, there's a group on MOCpages called 'Blogged by the Big Three' where people can link their MOCpages creation to one of the major blogs that has featured it.

However, BrickPop, one of the three blogs, has ceased operating and we'd like to replace it with the new 'BrickN3rd' blog that came into being this summer - which i'm sure many of you have seen. (It's not spelt with a '3' though!)

And here lies our problem; people can't link to this blog because its name is blocked and requires moderation (we think).

As such I'd need to approve every single comment linking to this site if we are to choose it as our new 'no. 3', which, um... I can't be bothered to do.

Is there any way that the n word could be removed from the naughty list (if that's what causing the moderation trigger)? I don't think anyone would really find it offensive although if this is the case I will happily drop this request.

Many thanks

Ape

At this point, I wouldn't even consider that word bad (I mean, look at the Vlog Brothers). While the list of words most certainly shouldn't be released, I think it's time to update it a little; seems like a different time now then when the 'Pages were initially created.....

I honestly don't think n3rd is something that needs to be moderated anyway, I don't care if someone called me a n3rd, some words though should be moderated, but not n3rd

Hey Ape,

While you, me and a number of other users might not find that word offensive, unfortunately there's a contingent of users here that would find it offensive.

Imagine if you will that you're a 10 year old and someone comes on your page and calls you "one" because you like Hero Factory and the only "cool" Lego in the insulters mind is Star Wars. So then we have to deal with that whole issue.

I do apologize but at this point the word has to stay on the list. Again, I understand the frustration (because hey, I agree with you personally) but we have to look at the overall issue that allowing certain words would allow. Simply asking that the word itself be moderated by the admins of the groups (I hope) wouldn't be too much to ask.

Look at it this way... do you know how many comments DAILY I have to moderate that are refering to Dr. Who's time travel call box (that has a proper name that I'm not going to type because I don't want to moderate it)? I know it's a pain to have to moderate those comments (BELIEVE me... I know...) but sometimes we just gotta bite the bullet.

Thanks for understanding.

Is there a way for the word to not require moderation when the word "brick" is used in front of it, in the same way that the words "cockpit" or "assassin" don't require moderation?

Thanks Mr Prasad. That looks a good blog. I hadn't heard of TFOL World until your comment though, and it's not completely inclusive (as I guess you have to be a TFOL to be blogged?) so it's prob not quite 'big' enough - however we have an 'Other Blogs' thread that TFOL World creations would be very welcome in : )

Agreed! Also, I don't believe the list of moderated words should be released...but some guidelines would be helpful:I

I've just had to delete a post that was caught by the filter, the word it was filtered for has been discussed above.

So to answer the question of the person who wrote the note - no you can't say it (yet).
