Awaiting approval...

I'm quite sure you can't retract your own requests to join groups which you need to await for approval, but there must be a solution. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

Thanks in advance!

Uh, So you want to undo your request to join? If so, I don't think it's possible....

Easiest way to do it... wait to be accepted and then simply leave the group. Or if you're rejected then it's a mute point.

I have this problem too. I requested to join an inactive group many years ago, and it's annoying how it's at the bottom of my request list forever.

Give me a link to the group and I'll see what I can do.

...no promises though, but I'll check it out.

May we use the group hack/glitch to fix this? I think I've figured it out.

Actually, I tried that a couple months back to no avail.

I don't think it's worth risking yourself over this. Hacking a group is probably not the best idea. I would just ignore it; I mean, I asked to join the Massive Space group, but I never have got a response back. I just ignore it.

knowing all the alligations of group hacking of course that wouldent be a good idea.

I have to echo the previous advice. If your request for approval has been rejected or ignored, move on and join a different group. Admins can invite and approve whoever they want, for whatever reason, and there is nothing the mods and admins of other groups can do about it.

I'm having the same problems. Here are the group links: http://www.mocpages.com/group.php/5626, http://www.mocpages.com/group.php/1155, and http://www.mocpages.com/group.php/2361.

Excuse the rather late reply :) but since this topic is sensibly titled some people may come searching for this information again.

If you have requested to join a group but the Admins of the group have never accepted or rejected you then the pending invite will always show up on your own Groups page under "awaiting approval."

Contrary to the discussion above, it appears you *can* remove the pending invite request yourself. Here's how...

Go to the home page of an example group that you are already a member of and click "leave this group" to see the confirmation page. Don't worry, you won't leave *that* group by bringing up the confirmation page, just make sure you DON'T click the Leave button. I recommend you use this Help group (group 2600) as the example group in case you make a mistake and leave the wrong group by accident.

Now, look at the URL in the browser's address bar. The end of the address will be like this:
group_leave_FORM.php?id=2600

The 2600 will be the group number of the group you asked to leave.

Simply change the number to the group number of the group you do wish to leave and hit enter. It will now show the confirmation page for leaving the actual group you want to leave - the one with the pending invite. Upon now clicking the Leave button the pending invite request will be gone and the group will no longer show up under "awaiting approval."
