PLEASE HELP ME TO EDIT MY PAGE!
Join to comment
Okay, this has gone too far. I knwo I've said this a lot, but nothin has been done about it. I've been trying to edit my home page for months, and nothing happens. I have some ready-made html that I copy in, and when I press the 'preview my changes' button, it simply reloads the page. No error messages, no re-log-ins, just a simple reload. The text is still there, my page is still unedited. I put a temproary message there because I accidentally lost my homepage, and now the 'temporary' message is stuck there. I can e-mail the text to have it done by a founder, but I would prefer to do the homepage myself. It has gone on for too long!

Declan, the thing is, this is a one-instance issue. The priority of Sean and the mods is taken up by group problems, such as the uploader glitch which is still affecting many people. Not to say that they don't care about the troubles you're having, but they definitely have more to do before they can get to that.
Anyway, I mentioned this before, but have you tried to edit your page on a mobile device such as a tablet or iPhone?

snip

try relogging on another computer, that worked for me. otherwise, I cant tell you anything but you're just going to have to wait until the biggest problem at hand is solved. be patient, sit tight, and watch a tv series or something--I doubt this is going to be a problem that dissipates quickly (Although, who am I to talk- just a simple lurker).

I don't know, you seem to have found a way to tell people it's gone odd, and something isn't working, but you are the only person having this problem who does not have a marquee HTML. All that this means is that it is most likely on your end of things. Something is not fully updated, or you have a hidden virus preventing you from doing what you want. If it was a problem with MOCpages, other people could say the same as you are. run a system check and see if there are any updates you need to add, or see if you have any threats on your computer.

To the best of my knowledge the problem you are describing affects anyone who has custom code in their title/username. The only effective method has been to make the changes using a tablet or ipad.

I've recently made amendments to my homepage without any problems, so I'm convinced the issue isn't global (ie affecting the entire website).

My suggestions would be to delete ALL code from the homepage, then try to save the blank page. If this works, then try cutting and pasting the custom code you have written and saving that.

But I agree with the previous comments. The issue seems to be with your computer/browser. So the only other suggestion is:

clear the cache on your browser.

try using a different browser, internet explorer, chrome or firefox, if the same issue occurs then that isn't the problem.

try using a different machine (if you have one available).

run virus checks with everything and anything you have.

Check that all add-ons are up to date.

If all that fails to make any difference then the issue is clearly with your account. Short of Sean looking into the set up, the only logical solution is to set up a new account - which I personally would have done by now considering how many times you have raised this issue without resolution.

I've tried all of those things you suggested, but NOTHING is working. I'm still stuck with this terrible homepage. I've tried it on other devices, other broswers, the whole thing. It's an account failure, not a computer failure.

Declan,

I invited you to a side group that we use from time to time. Your problem can be addressed there in private.

I've got the same issue. But I can't access the edit page, because of the marquee.

The Marquee has been said to be able to be removed via tablet, smart phone or other mobile device other than a Laptop.

I've tried on my iPod Touch, and a HTC mobile (not mine). But not a tablet. If I get the chance, I'll try by an iPad.

Ummm... got your message in the side group that I invited you to.

ooookay then. You do realize that I'm a MOCpages moderator right and that if I was going to delete your account (which I never would) I wouldn't need your password to do it? It's part of my job here to help people with account issues and I was just trying to help.

If you don't want our help then that's fine. We're here to help if you change your mind. Just remember, when you try to change your homepage in the future on your own, lots of HTML things like dancing ninjas and things like that will mess with your page. Try creating a page that's only text and that should work fine.

So while what you said is a good practice in many situations, when a staff member of the website you're trying to get help on wants to help... you should probably let em. Just sayin.

Anyway, I hope you can figure out what you need on your own. From what I was able to figure out on my own your homepage works fine for changing text so that's all you really need for the time being.

Good luck.

Declan didn't want my help soooo, we're free to move on to your problem.

Let us know if the ipad works. If not let me know and we'll take it to the next step.
