Using multuple accounts

Okay, so no I do NOT use multiple accounts.

Someone asked me if they could help change their buddy icon for them, since their computer was not working well. So, I logged off and tried to log back in, with their account. Of course I wasn't allowed. Not only that, I couldn't log back in to MY account.

I understand that this is so that kids can't rate themselves up, but seriously, what does 1 or 2 extra likes matter when I have personally wasted hours because of this rule.

One time, I accidentally typed my username in wrong. When I corrected it and tried to log in again, I had to wait an hour.

This rule is made so little kids wont rate themselves up, but really, it's SERIOUSLY obnoxious.

I agree that this is an annoyance. I think that this is necessary though...

This actually happened to me... My mom wanted to comment on the piano MOTD a week or two ago, so she made an account... She forgot to log off, so when we got back from stuff, I had to log off and wait an hour...

This is a problem not to everyone, but I think that it is needed to help...

the website was never designed for multiple accounts to be logged on from the same computer, you have to wait (as I believe the mods already explained in a previous topic) to log in again with your original account.

you could try clearing the cache file, but I think the time limit is set at the website end not on your computer.

It is the most irritating thing about this site. I just stay signed in on my computer. I can't stand being locked out for an hour.

Yes, but kiddies who REALLY want to vote themselves up will still find away.

1. Open a DIFFERENT web browser

2. Restart computer

3. Bookmark the page and come back, you will be logged in still. You can actually jump between accounts this way.

So here's my suggestion. Why not make it so you could like, link to accounts, and you could switch between these two ONLY.

Or at LEAST make it so that if you type your email wrong, it doesn't count. This is my biggest problem

Or maybe change the time to like 30 mins?

these might all be way to hard to do with the website coding and all. They are just suggestions.

I completely agree.

I'm still at a loss as to why you would need to be constantly swapping between accounts? the number of members who share computers is such a small number that it doesn't warrant any major changes to how the system works.

Besides, if you are both genuine members and not just the same person attempting to fraudulently inflate his popularity, then waiting an hour is hardly a hardship. Go do something else for a bit, like I don't know, play outside for a change. It's summer surely there are better things to do than sit in your bedroom staring at a screen all day.

Do I look like I need to inflate my popularity? Not really. And you would be surprised by the amount of people here with siblings. Plus, you never addressed the fact that if you mistype it, then you have to wait an hour.

My sister and share a computer sometimes. You know nothing of how annoying that rule can be.

here's a thought, why don't you share an account? then you wouldn't need to log out.

I'm sure at some point you'll have separate computers and then it will not be an issue.

Well, I have a laptop now, so it's no problem anymore. But it used to be a real pain.

my understanding is that sean prefers us to use English, however I have seen some groups that use both english AND a translation into a second language (such as german).

so long as English is present I shouldn't think there would be a problem.

As for HOW to do it, I'd recommend using either Bing or Google as they are the best on line translators. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post links to external websites, so try googling "google translate" and "bing translate" and you should find them both. Bablefish is also a good one, I think that's Yahoo!

What I mean is, could we make a second account, with our complete page in ,say for example, Spanish?

Oh, I just remembered what Annie and I eventually used to solve this problem when we shared a computer. Log on on two different browsers. I would be logged on on Chrome, and her on Firefox.

That's a good idea! I might try that!

why? I seriously don't get what benefit you have in doing that, surely you can just place both translations on the same page.

It'd be too cluttered.

That's a good idea! I usually share this computer with my other two bros who have pages here.

I should mention that non-english languages are accepted, however, if you're planning on commenting or communicating in another language it can cause some glitches with moderation. You might find comments not appearing, or going into moderation. No biggie, just FYI.
