I'm not sure if there is another thread about this, sorry if there is. I was wondering if it was ok to have my last name displayed. Is it safer for it to be O? Or should I include my entire last name.

It isn't bad, as it is allowed, but just not the smartest thing in my opinion.

I agree, it's the reason why I'm Noah "the Lego Apprentice". People can find out where you live just by your last name. So, it's aloud, but not recommended (unless you have a shotgun or something ;))

Well, it is certainly your choice, but I don't think you should...

Yeah, I think it's better for kids and teens to not have their last names for the most part. There's a few exceptions but mostly, it's better not to.

I have mine because well... I'm an adult and it was my decision to post myself on the internet. For our younger members, it's about your parent's decisions and if they feel you should put that info out there. I agree that anyone that is still living with parents should first, leave that decision to the parents but then also... even if they say it's ok... should still really think about it before posting yourself on the internet... any site, not just MOCpages.

Just my two cents on the subject. Of course as was stated above, the decision IS yours.

I don't see the danger, there are three other Eric Mickles in the world they won't bother to find before me.

I have my last name on here. Really, I think that if you do want to add your last name, try typing it into Google, and see what you get. That can help and see what others might to search you for. Also, it is probably worse if on your home page, you add your age, your birthday, and even where you live. I would be cautious with what you let others see. It is after all the interweb, (Top Gear reference), and everyone in the world can see, if they choose to.

if you don't see the potential danger of strangers knowing your full name then I really don't want to be the one to spell it out.

Seriously I never give my real name, even on facebook, too easy for thieves and con men to misuse the information.

Well, I understand the dangers, but I was just pointing out some of the other things you shouldn't post here, since I have seen so many people give away that info.

Well, I'm hoping that I can trust MOCpages people, only a few weirdos make an account for this site for absolutly nothing to do with legos. But you never know.

When you get down to it, a name is nothing. Unless it's something really exotic, there's likely to be hundreds of people with the same name. Now, an address, that's dangerous. A name, a country and a town, that's dangerous too. Just a name, though, is no problem.

You definitely want to avoid giving out your phone number, though. A name needs an address to go with it if you want to track someone, but a phone number, well.. there's these things called 'registries', and if you have the number you can find the address it's linked to and the person who pays the bills.

There is the nice helpful side of Areetsa that we almost never see, thanks I see what you mean about all that.

Exactly what I was trying to say. Now, I think we can now safely lock this topic.
