Just a suggestion, but would it be possible to make this group's topics pre-moderated to prevent new topics being generated when an existing topic already addresses the question, or where the frequently asked questions section of the MOCpages rules answers the question already?
I for one am a little unhappy with the constant "why don't my pictures show?" threads.

I agree and I wish there were an "easy fix" for this. But this group functions like any other and to have things like that in place would be problematic to say the least.

What would be nice is for people to take a couple of extra seconds to just skim through the topics and maybe... just maybe read through one or two of them to find their answer before jumping the gun and adding new threads.

Know you're not the only one annoyed...

I think part of the problem is that unlike other websites, there is no way to contact the "help desk" directly, so some people are using this as their own private message service. Also when they become impatient that no one "official" has responded they create another assuming it has been ignored.

Perhaps the group rules need to clarify the "etiquette" for creating new threads. just something like insisting people read down a page or two first might be enough.

What might also be an idea (but maybe difficult to implement) is a "summary" thread, which includes links to the most popular questions or at least the ones that have been answered. I'm sure some of the regulars would be willing to volunteer to populate it if you asked.

When sarting a new topic in this group, there is a message that says "Do not use this forum to report a problem". We could add "Please take a look at the other topics to see if your question already has been answered before you create a new topic" or anything like that.

Those are all wonderful suggestions guys. Problem is you're assuming that the ones making the new threads bother to read ANYTHING (including the group rules) in the first place...

(now you're seeing our frustration here)

pop-ups, everytime you go to a groups homepage a big window pops up with a message in big colored letters.
Personally I would find that very annoying as well but I would also find it funny :P

The Group section of our site is currently running as it did when initially created a while back - no major functional changes.

Like everything else, there's a learning curve. With time and some experience under his belt, I think Sean is seeing areas where the Groups could be altered to run a bit smoother. He's discussed some potential changes now and again, but hasn't really suggested which ideas are easy to implement, and which ones would be a royal pain in the pacans. So, I'm not sure what areas will see any adjustments, if and when they do occur. (How's that for being nice and vague!) Just note that there has been some talk about improvements.

One thing in particular is the idea of some sticky threads that cover a lot of the repetitive topics. He's also mentioned the notion of an F.A.Q. page or thread.
