Here's the way I do it:

Click on "add a new creation." Then upload the picture(s) that you want to add to your homepage. When it finishes uploading, click "continue." Finally, copy the HTML and paste it on your homepage.

Did you click 'edit your homepage'? Then you should be able to paste the picture. If the past option doesn't work you can always rt click on the image and copy image location (firefox) or properties on windows and copy the url. Then you need to type the html <img src="url" alt="some_text"/> <a href="http://www.w3schools.com/htmL/html_images.asp">link</a>;
