Mocpages error

I often had that my browser says: Oops! Google Chrome could not connect to www.mocpages.com, and when I try in Internet explorer, it also doesn't work. It happens less than in the begin, but still often. Could someone please help me, because it's very annoying when I try to upload a new MOC, and it doesn't work, because I lose all my progress.:(

As for your internet service, there we can't really help you much. However I can offer some advice. SAVE YOUR WORK! haha

Seriously though, what many of us have learned (the hard way mind you) is when you're uploading a moc, the BEST thing to do is to save all the work to something like a word document. That way, when you log in, all you have to do is copy and paste.

Hope that helps and good luck!

I didn't quite know what thread to put this in but I found after pressing on 'About MOCpages' (at the bottom of each page) http://www.mocpages.com/about/ there is a typo on the right. Under 'Buttons and Banners' it says: If you want to show your support, why noy use a MOCpages button or banner?
It should say "not".

Don't expect it to be taken care of in just 8 hours.

mocpages was down for several hours yesterday. This is the forth monday in a row I've had limited access, and the 12 weekend in the last year.

Is there some issue with the servers?

I don't know, but sometimes MOCpages is REALLY slow (like right now). I could be wrong, but I think MOCpages would be better if these changes are made:

Be able to comment on a MOC without having to preview what it'll look like.

Be able to add an MOC without having to go into each group (you could add it when you're creating or editing a MOC. There could be a list of the groups and you just check the ones that you want to add your MOC to).

You'll look like a fool because you won't spot typos or spelling mistakes.

MOCpages has been getting tons of traffic through late June and all of July, likely due to summer break. The servers have been crashing, freezing, slowing, and hanging every few hours, and we're constantly restarting them and working on them. It should be noted that we just migrated to a brand-new server architecture less than a year ago, which was supposed to handle many years of expected load. It seems, however, that with the faster servers came gobs of new people to the site, so we're back to being slow yet again. Believe me when I say that we are very actively working on the problems and I hope to have them solved in the coming months. (Meantime, just hang tight.)

Thanks for the service, Mr. Kenney! Would deleting a few pictures of old MOCs on our part help out the speeds on a short-term basis?

No, the two are not related. (That's like asking if throwing out an old shirt will make you a faster runner.)

Keeping images doesn't affect anything. The slowdowns are because thousands of people are coming to MOCpages all at the same time, even if all they did was look at the Home Page, our servers still have to be powerful enough (and set up correctly) to respond to everyone all at once.

And besides, we have 10 to 20 million photos on MOCpages... deleting one or two won't make any difference at all. By all means, keep your old MOCs! I love knowing everyone's creations are all here.

Whoa!!!! 10-20 million!!! That's a lot of people! Right now MOCpages is a bit slow, but if you compare it to the weekends, it's lightning fast.

Have you ever considered a more... democratic way of running MOCpages?

That's an odd comment to get from a guy named "Communist". :) By what do you mean, "Democratic"?

Democracy is pretty much the essence of communism, and both are derived from the assumption that all human beings are born equal.

I also believe the whole role-playing thing is a joke, but you can never know with Areetsa (AKA Communist).
Ah, yes. But democracy gives all people equal opportunity to succeed, where if you do a better job, you get a greater reward; and communism gives equal success, so that if you do a bad job you get the same reward as a good job.

I see, so it's not the stored memory but the huge number of pages that the server has to load simultaneously. Gotcha.

Not for me. I read over my comment before I press "continue."
