Can you be more specific about this incident...

Did you get pop-up windows appearing, advertising sites once you reached your home page? Or did the link to the home page (from somewhere else on MOCpages) take you to a different site completely?

We want to nip this stuff quickly, so any further info would be great, and I or Chris will pass along that info to Sean ASAP. Thanks.

A while back, my friend CPT Sparks #1 got a virus from MOCpages.com, and The Phiponater said someone was sending viruses outside of the 'pages. Might be related to that.

The thing is, the ads are what pays for MOCpages.

Without those annoying (and sometimes less than fully appropriate) bulletins, MOCpages wouldn't exist. So while I consider them a bit of a nuisance, personally, I'm grateful Sean has a way of keeping the site going, and I'm willing to deal with them in exchange for all that MOCpages offers.

By the way, Hawk. I passed along the message to Sean, and he hasn't seen any problems within the site lately.

It's possible your computer may have picked up some malware that interfered with your link to the site.

Please don't use ad blockers. MOCpages only gets paid when the ad is shown. If you block ads, we don't get paid.

I'm pretty sure adblock has a feature that lets you block specific ad servers.

I haven't got a clue how it works, although if my memory serves me it involves right-clicking on an ad you don't want to see.

I hear a lot of talk about "innaproriate ads" on MOCpages. The most complaints are about ads for dating sites and for pictures of women in, what is essentially, a bikini.

So my question is this, do you find going to the beach or a public pool offensive? Do you find dating offensive? If the answer is no, then the ads also shouldn't offend you. Of course, if you find either of these things offensive then be sure not to watch the Disney channel as both dating and beach scenes are shown on that station daily.

Sean won't allow ads that ARE offensive. You don't see ads for "adult material" here do you? No. Sean wouldn't allow it.

We appreciate your concern but truly, out of the hundreds of ads I've seen on MOCpages, not one of them has been offensive in any way.

I personally don't have any problems with the ads, but some adults can be highly sensitive about what their kids see, that's what I was saying. If those are the rules at their house, then they should use whatever they have to enforce them however they see fit.

Most of the guys on mocpages are to a nerd as a nerd is to Don Casanova.

Chances are, most of 'em haven't even been to the sort of beach where bikinis are worn, and they'd probably faint from the excitement if they did.

Now, I'm not saying I support the decay of society over the last century, and neither am I advocating Victorian style full-body swimwear, but nobody ever changed their mind about something just because some stranger argued with them on the internet.

Both sides go away firmly convinced the other guy is wrong.

I don't know where I'm going with this, so I'll just put this here to sum up: the ads are a symptom of an underlying problem, which can't be fixed over the 'net.

So if someone doesn't want bikini and dating site ads, they should go out and fix the society of the people who click on them.

Simple supply and demand; if the demand dries up, the supply dwindles. Since there's so many dating site ads around? Well, clearly there's a lot of demand.

Two words, six syllables advertising revenue.

That still blocks revenue. The person needs to see the ads in order for the revenue to go to Sean. In other words. More people adblock, less money for the 'pages.

Every single ad that is shown on mocpages creates money for us. If 4 people block the ads, then MOCpages doesn't get paid for those four people. When you block the ads, you're taking money away from the site that you enjoy for free. Are the ads truly that offensive?

I know you don't Jeff, you're one of the good ones around here. But my counter to that is simple... where are the parents? It's the parent's job to monitor what their kids see and do on the internet. If the parents have an issue with the ads, then they shouldn't allow their child to come to this site.

Two words. Parental responsibility.

Depends. Was I trying to be mean? No. Was I trying to be offensive? No. Was I truly wondering what he finds offensive? Yes. Why I put "offensive" in quotes, It could mean a lot, it varies for person to person so I put it into quotes because the definition varies person to person. And what he is probably taking "offense" to IS a natural part of life, that is a basic human need. No more needs to be said. I'm out.

Look, nothing we say is going to convince you. You've got your opinion and you're entitled to it.

However, while you're throwing stones (being as you say on your homepage that you're a Christian, perhaps you've heard that saying before?) maybe you should look at your own page first. All I saw was moc after moc of guns, violence and war. How approriate is that for a child your age? If you find a bikini offensive, why not innocent slaughter?

If your parents find the ads offensive and don't wish you to see them, then THEY should not allow you on this site. The ads are within society's norms. Now, what society views as normal is also open to debate however, that's not for us to discuss here. It's too big an issue.

So, before you continue I ask that you answer these two simple questions. And if you can't answer them directly, we can consider this conversation closed. I'm always open to debate and conversation so I hope you continue.

One: Do you feel that violence and murder are acceptable and approriate?

Two: Do your parents take issue with the ads (which it is in their right to do so, so no fault is being placed there) and if so, why do they not monitor your computer activity?

So by your own logic, wouldn't it also be logical that dating is acceptable and approriate because without it none of us would be here? The terroists job is done for them through inaction. Not necessarily. There are other ways of fighting. Human history is mainly marked by bloodshed and war, the gun has been around for about five hundred years compared to swords witch have been around for thousands. The gun is merely a TOOL used in them and in other places. Now I am a supporter of the right to bear arms (no political arguments please). Now, I don't know if many of you heard of the workplace shooting in CT a few weeks ago. He used the gun as a TOOL in his scheme. He could have just as easily taken a sword, knife, or another weapon and used it. That is an example of a tool being used in a wrong manner. The gun can be used for good or evil. To understand the gun is to better understand history.

As I understand it, some people here object to ads showing bikini babes.
Now, let's forget my concern for their sexual identity for the moment, and let's also set aside the daily triviality of dating and bikini.
Even with those out the way, you can just IGNORE them.
If they bother you at the point that you can't, then you should NOT be here in the first place. The net is a dangerous place.

Oh no, don't go just yet...

Try this one. You find bikinis offensive correct? Ok.

You are a star wars fan correct?

You watch clone wars (and don't give me that bull about not watching TV. I've seen your homepage)?

You do know that Ashoka wears what is essentially a bikini right?

So by your own logic, you find something that you enjoy (star wars) offensive because there's a bikini in it.

My young friend. My advice is to quit while you're ahead. Your logic makes no sense and your arguments even less.

If you don't like the ads, then we're sorry to lose you but my advice would be not to visit the site anymore. We're glad to have you as part of the community of course, just be careful which fights you try to pick.

Good luck.

It could also be what the parents are viewing... And "cookies" does not mean download. You could visit A site to buy a tee shirt, and then you come here, BAM, ads for tee shirts.

you mine as well lock this topic now, and to extend Chris's point even more, i'm sure you have worn a BATHING SUIT before, and a BIKINI is basically the same thing, so you shouldn't have a problem.

I'm pretty sure his problem is that a bikini is a bathing suit for wimminz.

That's the problem right there.

Dude, you deserve it. I saw all the things you posted in those groups (remember, "private group" means nothing to me).

You want to try to start flame wars for no other reason than being bored? This is a Lego website. You want people to treat you with respect, you need to show some first. Threatening to hack a group if they don't bow to your wishes is childish. To put it mildly, I don't approve of the actions you've been taking recently. My advice would be to knock it off before you tick off the wrong people.

the only ppl i talk cr@#p to are klay zylo and spencer.im nice to everyone els ask eric

3Actully, no, I don't have cable, therefore, no

5 I do not like Ahsoka
6 NEVER!!
7 Or, I could just put up an ad blocker, therefore nobody would get paid for the ads. I suggest that you get LEGO ads and wahtnot.

Ok, I'll play your game. You claim that you haven't seen clone wars and don't like Ashoka. Sure, I'll bite. Ok...

You've seen the movies right?

It is your fault that you have those adds. Stop blaming MOCpages. It's not Sean's fault. If you want Lego ads, spend your time on Lego's website instead of x-rated sites as shown by your cookies.

One, have you read what Sean, Mark, myself, Chris and others have said? No ads means NO MONEY for the site. Have you read what Chas has said? It is cookie enabled. Whatever sites you have visited will store "cookies" and then those get used to determine what products you would like to buy. You don't need to like Ashoka, therefore argument invalid. Also I would stop.

I don't believe this. Who can find dating offensive?! It is everybody's right to get a girlfriend (or boyfriend) and date them! You will too Mr Private Henderson! Now, I'm not trying to be mean or anything I'm just stating facts.

And the ads are on the side of the screen, not in the middle where you want to be! Unless you purposely look at the ads so you can persecute Sean and MOCpages.....That would be just weird. Or you could just size down your screen, that way you don't have to look at the ads and Sean still gets paid and therefore is still able to run this wonderful site!

I thank God that Sean has given the community this site and EVERYTHING on it!

Please, have a think about that. :)

If you feel i've been mean to you then find all the comments i've said something that directly offends you. If chris or another important figure feels i need to be smacked for that then so be it. But i believe everything i said was respectful and didn't insult you directly.
i relly belive that..

Not always... My father, for instance, is a big time survivalist, and spends a lot of time on sites like debka.org/ and survivalblog.com.

How come all I see are ads for dating sites and MMOs and so forth?

Equally: while I use InPrivate browsing extensively so I don't have to keep deleting cookies and temp. files because blah blah only 1.5 gigs left on the hard drive, I have a very large assortment of blogs in my favorites; GunPundit, The Firearm Blog, Box O' Truth etc. Equally: I don't see any ads for things that go 'bang' except when I'm browsing those sites.

My conclusion? Google ads are shown based on the content of a given page. If a page is about the latest and greatest XCube 490 games, there'll be XCube 490 ads. If it's about guns, there'll be Remington ads. If it's about little kiddies complaining b'cause bewbz, there'll be bewbz in the ads.

Ah well, according to all Christians (and me, especially me) God was every where before time. No beginning, no end. Pretty hard to get around eh?

And Private Henderson, God teaches us to be kind to any religion, anyone and of any race. If Yuri worships Zeus, respect him and respect that fact. Don't push him, or bad things could happen. Don't worry, it's happened to me.

I'm not saying necessarily. It depends on a lot of things, and you have some great points too. Case closed.

Alight kids. Long story short...

The ads are only offensive if you choose for them to be. Everyone is entitled to their opinions and no matter how flawed their logic, they're still entitled to it. (I weep for the future of our society).

Private, if you find the ads offensive, then you shouldn't be on this site. The ads are here to stay. They're what pays for this FREE site that you enjoy. Best of luck to you.

Actually, Zeus comes from older myths found in bronze-age greece dating back to 1600 BC, where the oldest traces of Jewish monotheism can be traced between 700 and 450 BC. Before that they were still pagans.
That's about 1000 years.
