The judges for the games are all admins of the group.
They are Matt, Dennis, Tyler, Nick, Mark and myself.
Some of these will also be judges for the MIT and some won't. That will be decided later. The person leading the charge in the MIT will be Hans D. with me as his backup. Over in the MIT, Hans' word is LAW and what he says, goes.
Thank you again to all the judges who will be working so hard to make this all come together!
I really expected more entries with the prizes being offered; however, this will have to do. There are already some fantastic entries so far, and this year’s MocOlympics should still be a real cutthroat show of outstanding Lego prowess.
Even with the lower amount of mocs in play, it will still take us time to judge, tally, recheck, and seed the field. In other words, DON’T ASK. We will keep you updated on the status of who placed where when we get it all in. Round 2 will start on September 19th at midnight. That will give us enough time for all the official business, so be patient until then. We will be here to answer all your questions as long as they are reasonable and do not involve the words, “When will you post the scores?”
Got it? Good.
Thank you all for giving us a difficult job in judging, as it should be your primary goals. We wish all of you the best of luck and truly can’t wait for the pandemonium that is called Round 2.
Just came in to wish you good luck, we're all counting on you.
And, to remind all of you that Round 2 ends tonight at midnight. I closed Round 1 after a thirty minute grace period due to the uploader issues last go. I will NOT be as generous anymore. Thirty minutes past midnight is NOT going to fly. There will be a minor grace period as always because I'm not one to care much about what time it is. But the emphasis there is "minor". For contrast, I consider thirty exasperatingly major. UNDERSTAND? Good.
As of this posting, I count twenty four entries out of sixty four contestants. As simple math dictates, that leaves forty entries that can be expected today. DO NOT wait until the last minute citing some sort of silly strategic purpose (nice alliteration there.) Get your entries in as soon as possible! Uploader traffic will get hairy today, so don't be THAT guy.
That certainly went much more smoothly than Round 1. Thank you to the Mocpages version of Roy and Moss, guess someone tried turning the uploader off and on again.
Yessireebob, Round two is in the books and that book reads, “To be continued” for some and “The end” for others. There were some fine entries here, definitely a few which are keepers. There can be, as you all well know, only one victor per category. We see that there are some that will move on unchallenged. Missed opportunities to dance on the big stage are your own regrets; live with it, for none of us are interested in your song any longer. We also have noticed that a couple of you decided to put a fight. This pleases us. Hopefully as much as it pleases all of you for it is that competitiveness which drives all of us to greater realizations about our own abilities. So, bully for you!
We judges will begin our job immediately and give you the simple result on your mocs. Sleep allowing and the ibuprofen lasting, we will complete our side of the bargain as soon as possible.
We will also keep you updated on the time for Round 3 to begin in the status bar on the home page.
Fine job builders, keep it up and have fun! Take a breather for a bit, ya’ll deserve it. ;) Permalink
Categories are not up for negotiation. Find a way to make it work for you or politely withdraw from the competition. You've made it to round three and that's a great achievement, but asking for a category change -- for whatever reason -- is against the spirit of the games and, in short, it isn't going to happen. For those of you who remain in the game, build on! For those who choose to forfeit, our hats are off to you! For those who simply wimp out and don't build, PFFFFFTTT! Permalink
Yes, everyone, this is now an official decree. Seeing that for the last two rounds, we have had issues with people getting their mocs into the group on time. I will now state for the record:
IF YOUR MOC IS NOT IN THE GROUP POOL BY THE TIME I CLOSE IT, IT WILL NOT COUNT AND YOU WILL FORFEIT THE ROUND TO YOUR OPPONENT. (all caps makes it official BTW.)
There may or may not be a grace period. The round officially closes at 11:59:59 P.M. on October 12 (at least this current round does but the same will apply to the later ones.) That means that I might close it at 11:59:59 P.M. I might also be a bit slow and close it a few minutes after that. I might not. The point being is that I have given an overtly generous amount of time for a grace period and it has been a source of controversy. The fair thing to do is to close it ON TIME. Which I will do.
Do NOT expect or count on a grace period so get your mocs in here PRONTO!
And just so there is no mistake, I will repeat it in a somewhat familiar vernacular:
Round 3 is over and done with! Off to a splendidly rocky start with a whole lotta whining and crying and yet, miraculously, here we have a slew of fantastic mocs. Odd that, eh? It’s almost like these judges aren’t entirely insane. ;)
We’ll be hopping onto our obligation to you stupendous builders and render our votes. You all have made the task at hand rather difficult. For that, we graciously thank all of you.
Stay tuned to the status bar for the next round at the bottom of the home page for the date and time for Round 4. And if the complaining was deemed wild, superfluous, and silly for Round 3, I for one cannot wait for the delicious protests and blusterous rants for Round 4. Muahahaha.
We will return you now to your regularly scheduled program. Permalink
In court, they would say that your actions showed "intent" and that harsh punishment is warranted. We must follow a similar precedent. However, seeing that we would never have been the wiser for your act if you did not tell us, we see it fit that the punishment be lightened considerably. Additionally, since you have gained no advantage due to Mark's proactive diligence, we have decided that a shortened timeframe for YOUR entry in Round 4 will suffice.
You alone will submit your entry on or before Friday, October 24 at 11:59:59 P.M. Mocpages Time whereas all other contestants will have until midnight of that Sunday. This gives you eight days to build rather than ten, and you will only have one weekend early on to cram.
This infraction will warrant a per case treatment so if anyone else decides to commit the same offense, this is not the specified penalty thereof. Expect worse, namely ejection.
I would like to take a moment to commend your honesty. As with Stu, it goes a long way with us. I hope that is obvious by the fact you are still here competing with what can be considered a slap on the wrist.
Round 4 is in the books. Additionally, there was a wonderful feeling, not from the scotch although that was rather pleasant, of not having to close out the window as all of you managed to get your builds into the group on time. For that blessed first of these 2014 MocOlympics, I thank you all.
Superb mocs! We thank you kindly for the difficult job you have so graciously afforded us. We will get to it straight away and begin judging. As always, keep an eye on the status bar on the home page for the start of Round 5.
Cheers all and a fine show this round! Best of luck to everyone! Permalink
And so ends another radio broadcast hour. Round five has been filed appropriately with ten minutes to spare and all the bunting has come down. And yes, Elvis has left the building.
Eight fantastic builds to ruin the next couple days with judging. thanks. ;) A difficult chore awaits us in poring over useless machines, mindgasm flora and fauna, descriptive builds encompassing talented and talentless directors (couldn’t resist.) Some extremely open categories with vastly differing interpretations showcasing exemplary mocs all of you should be quite proud of.
Once again, we shall fulfill our obligation and get the voting underway immediately. Keep an eye on the status bar for the beginning of the next round, the semifinals, THE money! Sit back and relax a spell while we get to work. There have been some truly fantastic entries this year along with some cruel decisions. Remember that there can be only one winner per category and any loss here in this arena is something not to fear, shun, or be ashamed of. Take pride in your builds and allow them to live the life you set in motion for them. And in all seriousness, thank you for making this job of judging as difficult as it could be. THAT is always a win.
Great show all, we wish you the very best of luck! Permalink
All up and in. Thank you gentlemen, we shall get our judgments in soon to settle this wonderful Round 6.
An outstanding showing by all of you and certainly one for the ages. As is usually the case, the cream has risen to the top.
Stay tuned to the status bar on the homepage for the upcoming Round 7, THE FINALS.
We have taken into account all of your requests, as well as our own, to postpone the final round an extra week. We shall do so. Round 7 will begin on Thursday December 4 at 11:59:59 PM MPT and end on December 14 at 11:59:59 PM MPT.
You've all done splendidly and deserve a bit of a breather. We cannot wait for the last round to begin and look forward to these 2014 MocOlympics to end on a very high note.
Congratulations to all of you for getting this far and putting up a proper fight. CHEERS! Permalink
