Round 2
 Group admin
For round 2 you will separated in 2 teams, depending on your position at the end of r1.
It will be Team Even vs Team Odds.
The Even
http://www.mocpages.com/group_conversation.php?id=23570&topicid=94383
The Odds
http://www.mocpages.com/group_conversation.php?id=23570&topicid=94384
Each team consists of 8 players, and the teams will compete on 4 different themes.

Each player can enter one MOC.

Each team must present at least 1 entry for each of the 4 themes.

It doesn't matter how many times your team chooses any theme, as long as at least one entry for each team is presented (so technically you could choose 3 different themes and then 5 of the same).

The themes for this round:
A- Thinship or Ultra Thinship: TS and UTS are small spacecrafts, minifig scale, 1 or 2 studs wide (except the cockpit if present). You can find quite a few around the pages.
B- Biomech: A biomech is a cheat I use to pretend I can build mecha. It basically consists in a Lego System cockpit with some Bionicle/Hero Factory limbs attached, but sometimes the results can be surprisingly good. Now you try it.
C- Space Spinning Top: build a 51-100 pieces Lego Spinning Top. I hosted a few contests with this theme, you shouldn't have any problem finding inspiration. It should be sci-fi or space-themed.
D- Nanoscale Ship - Build a kickass nanoscaled space ship. It shouldn't be too big, around the size of a forearm will do: design and technique will count more than size.

Each entry will be scored 1 to 5, plus 1 or 2 bonus points for special merits.

The team with the highest score will move to round 3.

BUT there's a catch...

The lowest scoring member of the winning team will be eliminated, and the highest scoring member of the losing team will move up. So stay on your toes, you can't afford to be sloppy just because it's a team effort.

In case of dropouts from the winning team (tough chance), the open spots in the brackets will be filled in by the highest scoring players of the losing team.

So, today is feb 12 (almost gone), considering you'll need a couple of days to organize, and that the themes are a bit more demanding (not all of them though), I'd give you 15 days to complete your task.
The time limit is feb 27, MP time.

Have at it!

More like a cross between Genghis Khan and Bobby Knight. With olive oil and shallots.

Seriously dude, you need to join some competitions. I think about half the people in the sidelines of contests are named Ian Spacek. ;)

It appears I gave the impression of an extremely constraining version of Biomechs...
Just mix System and Bionicle/HF parts, you can find some BM around for inspiration, but here's a mech (humanoid)
http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/109597
And a biomech (humanoid)
http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/128578
And another Biomech (semi-humanoid?)
http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/215817

Just mix and match folks! Imagination, rather than description, is the key!

Why? I imagine you have your own ideas about it...
Here, let me show you my favorite Biomech on the 'pages, you'll see what I mean

Just scroll down to the last pic, it's the only decent one.
These are also Biomechs from the same guy, and I love them.

As a matter of fact, I do, but I had to cut those down to fit what I thought was the description. My newer design is better anyway.

In a departure from my usual contest behviour, I've actually got a viable entry built over a week before the deadline. But I think I'll look at it for a few days and make minor improvements before I post it.

Haha, thanks! It is indeed ambitious. My odds are roughly 3/4600. I'm determined to win. ;)

I finally finished my entry this past Tuesday: https://soundcloud.com/ian-spacek/unforeseen-destiny-bleeding

You're more than welcome to give it a listen if you'd like. Heh, perhaps I'll have some time for Lego now. I've got several nearly finished builds that have been sitting on the shelves for weeks. :)

That's really quite impressive Ian! I like the bassoons through it. Nice feel for Hans' own work as well. I especially love the reverb you had going at 1.20. Very nice touch. I think your odds just improved a bit. Best of luck there!

Hah, thanks! Yeah, as woodwinds usually get the short end of the stick in modern film-score, I tried to create something unique by using them. Heh, and those whispers creating part of the reverb at 1:20 are Max Pointner...with a bit of effect added. ;)

Dude, that was awesome. The reeds sounded terrific, and I like how you filled it out with percussion. Of course, the whispers were sweet too. Best of luck in the contest, and looking forward to those MOCs you keep alluding to.
