Welcome to Round 3 of the Middle Earth Lego Olympics! Sixteen of you are still up and running! If you’re still not feeling 100% certain about how everything works, you can brush up on the rules here:

http://mocpages.com/group_conversation.php?id=23408&topicid=92891

Please carefully read all of the following before asking any potential questions:

Round 3 ends at 11:59pm MOCpages time on 2/2/14. That gives you just under ten days to build!

The theme for this round is Two Towers quotes. As in the previous rounds, the quotes are open to interpretation. Some quotes will be trickier to tackle than others. You can take the basic route and build the scene from which the quote originates, or you can build some other creative MOC that somehow relates. It’s up to you! All we ask is that you REFRAIN from including other story themes in your entry (e.g. Star Wars, Harry Potter, Superheroes, etc.). Seeing as you were all successful in the preceding rounds, we expect that you understand how this works by now!

Required for all Round 3 entries:

-Title your entry: MELO Round 3: [your name] vs. [your opponent’s name]

-State your bracket (Barad Dur or Orthanc) FIRST THING in the intro box. As there are two sets of judges, this immediately informs them if you’re in their bracket or not. It’s a courtesy!

-Provide a WORKING link to your opponent’s homepage or entry (depending on which of you posts first), placed preferably near the top of your entry’s page. You can also include a link to the MELO homepage if you’d like (appreciated, but not required).

-State the category you’re playing in, preferably near the top of your page.

And now, without further ado, I give you the Round 3 categories and match-ups!

Two Towers Quotes

-Barad Dur Bracket: Your judges are Blake Bear, Mark Murphy, and Ian Spacek. The judges are not required to give feedback about their voting decisions.

Legopard vs. Grant Davis
“Let this be the hour when we draw swords together. Fell deeds awake. Now for wrath, now for ruin, and the red dawn!”

Dodge vs. Zoltan K.
“Shall I describe it to you? Or would like me to find you a box?”

KW Vauban vs. Matthew Oh
“Look at them. They're frightened. You can see it in their eyes.”

Lee Muzzy vs. Justin Knelsen
“It is an army bred for a single purpose: to destroy the world of men.”

-Orthanc Bracket: Your judges are Max Pointner, Michael Kringe, and Paul Vermeesch. The judges are not required to give feedback about their voting decisions.

David Hensel vs. Finn Tegotash
“Your fingers would remember their old strength better... if they grasped your sword.”

J-rod Smith vs. Andrew the Jedi Ninja
“The tree is talking!”

Elliott Feldman vs. David FNJ
“We tells him to go away, and away he goes! Gone! Gone! Smeagol is free!”

Li Li vs. Eli Willsea
“All dead... all rotten. Elves and men and orcses. A great battle, long ago. The Dead Marshes... yes, that is their name.”

Well, I had a lot of fun in the MELO this year. A big thank you to Ian and all the judges for spending their time and energy on this great contest. I really appreciate it. Finally, good luck to the remaining contestants. I'm really looking forward to all your MOCs!

Well, that is disappointing. Congratulation Matt Oh! You are a much better builder than your round 2 entry, try not to wait till the last minute on your next build and you should go far. Good luck to all!

HUZZAH!!! No produce this time, thanks judges! Luck to you Zoltan, I look forward to what you've got up your sleeve.

As well, just to check: submissions are due on Feb 2nd? If my MOC casts a shadow, will there be six more weeks of winter?

Dig deep! I've been preparing, administering and marking term finals all week, while finishing up our LUGbulk order, preparing for a TV show this weekend and dealing with two sick kids at home!

You can do it!!!

Well...Round 3 has officially ended! I think I'm going to dub this round "the clash of the titans". I'm not just "being nice" when I say that the entries this year have been truly phenomenal thus far. I'm thoroughly impressed. Bravo contestants, bravo!

Well, this has been a fun MELO year. I had lots of fun competing, and wish the winners best of luck! Maybe next year I will have more time, or maybe will help out. :)

Goodbye, and thanks for the privilege of making it to round 3. (Even though I "technically" didn't officially make it to round three by competition.)
Good luck to the ones that remain!

True, but it was a ridiculously close round, a 2-1 split, and I could have easily seen myself loosing all of them.

You know, I find this contest to be an extremely helpful excuse to watch the extended editions again for no real reason :D
