Hello everyone! Welcome to my first annual Builder Triathlon! This contest will test your building skills in all areas! Are you ready for some stiff competition, exhilarating experiences, and insane builds? Well then get ready for the 2013 Builder Triathlon!

Okay, now to round 1. In round 1 there will be 3 categories, and the categories are...

1. Mother Goose Mayhem:
We all know "The three little pigs" right? Take your favorite fairy tale or nursery rhyme and change it to fit around today's culture. The three little Halo kiddies? The ugly sharpied clone? You decide.

2. Opposite Day:
Image a world where everything is normal...ly opposite to what's normal.

3. Blowing Up Buster:
Show a scientific experiment going horribly wrong; with the result being an explosion! It could be anything from modern day science, or it could be from Ancient Egypt! You decide the timeline!

The entries will be judged out of 25 points.

10 points for build quality.
10 points for category relevance.
5 points for photo quality.

Your judges are: Arctic Wolf, A. Sargent, Matthew Oh, Myself, and Zach Lucia.

Now for the rules.

Must be real LEGO bricks.
Must have a working link to the homepage of the 2013 Builder Triathlon.
Must say which category you have chosen in your description.
Must have a title of "2013 Builder Triathlon: Round 1: your title here".
Must be added to this group.
Only 1 entry per round.

The deadline of Round 1 is the 14th of November at 11:59 P.M. MOCpages time.

Have fun, and may the odds be ever in your favor...

Wait... So explosions are difficult to make? In that case maybe I should work on my "before" scene more so as to have more time for the middle scene....

It really depends on the shape and size of the explosion, as well as the types and quantities of fire-colored elements available to you. After my second try, my explosion looks fairly decent, but it is rather small compared to the rest of the build… We'll just have to pretend a little! =P ;)

So, it really depends. But if you start thinking about it now, then you will have it easier when it's time to actually build the explosion…

At least, all that is what I experienced.

If "being in another country" is the part that's opposite about the MOC, then I think that's stretching the category too much. They're looking for things more like a world with inverted gravity, opposite colors, opposite laws, things like that.

When I preview the creation it shows the link, but it doesn't when I go to the creation through my homepage.

Did you copy/paste exactly what I put in that last comment? Make sure that you put the link in the main description box, not the introduction box.

Apology excepted! I would have answered earlier but we where at our monthly church airsoft war.

No need to worry. I forgive you. :D I envy that you get to have a monthly church airsoft war. :O I rarely ever play! But it's so much fun!!!

A side note: You know what's weird? We aren't talking about legos anymore (Duh! Yeah Makok I'm sure she doesn't know that!)! Your question about if you can have an entry set in another country ends in a talk about airsoft! Kinda funny when you say like that!

I know I love airsoft! Yeah it is weird now that you point it out to me, I did notice but it didn't really register. It is funny though!

Eve and Makok, I'm not trying to disturb your chat, but this is a contest and unless you're talking about the contest, you might want to go to another group to continue.

Sorry about that, we didn't mean to annoy anyone we'll move the conversation elsewhere.

Yeah, originally the explosion category was my last choice, but my ideas for the other categories were too difficult.

Yeah, building a city underground would be pretty hard… :P But what was even harder was ripping apart my before model for the explosion… I managed to keep the explosion small compared to the rest of the build, but compared to some other builds, it's actually pretty big.

Okay I just added my new creation to the group, it is now proper for the category for which I have chosen!

Here it is!!!

http://mocpages.com/moc.php/374251

The pictures turn out very blurry when I upload them, even when I use the newer uploader. They look much better in iphoto, but then they get so small and scrunched-up. How can I fix that?

If what I think is true, their will only be 8 people entering round one. :(
Well, at least it won't be that hard to judge! (maybe)
