Round 4
 Group admin
"...and then there were four!"

Welcome to Round 4 (the semi-finals) of the 2013 BrickBattleGames!

Well done to all the contestants in Round 3. Each one of you had incredible entries, and it was tough to determine who would move on. Congratulations, though, to the final four. You have all battled hard to get to this point in the competition, however, sadly for two of you, your long heroic journey will end here! Round 4 will focus on modern (WWI-Present) combat.

Requirements for Round 4:

Round four begins now and will end on Friday the 27th at 12:00AM (EST) you must have your creations in the group by then or you will be disqualified (DQ).

Please title your entry: 2013 BrickBattle Games Round 4: [Your name] vs [Your Opponent's name]

Please include working links to your opponent's homepage, the group, OR your opponent's entry (if you enter second in your matchup).

And the moment you've all been waiting for! The matchups and categories for Round 4!

Ieuan R vs Abby Francis

Category: "Arial Dogfight": Build two or more planes form WWI-Present (2013) in combat. You can build any model (of plane) that you want, but it has to be an actual plane from the era (time period) that you choose, and they have to be shown in combat.

NOTE: Your planes MUST be minifigure scale. However, you are allowed to use microscale for forced-prospective purposes ONLY!

Caleb of Enalica vs Graham Gidman

Category: "We Need More Firepower!": Build a life-sized gun from WWI-Present (2013). You can build any type of gun you want, but it has to be an actual gun.

NOTE: Please provide a video showing the gun firing. You gun MUST be able to actually fire some kind of official LEGO piece.

Good luck, and may the best two contestants advance! The Semi-Finals (Round 4) of the 2013 Brick Battle Games starts, NOW!

By the way, it is Ieuan, not Leuan, though I have been called that many times by supply teachers at school! The name is Welsh and is pronounced yi-yan, if you care ;)

Actually, no. I did not give you that category because of that reason. The two categories that Lee proposed for Round 4 were nearly identical in their challenge objectives, so I had to think of a different one, and this is the first idea that came to mind.

If you don't want to build for it (and just let Graham win by default), that's fine, but I'd hate to see someone get an automatic "bid" to the championship, just because they're contestant didn't try.

A true champion will do what ever it takes in order to come out on top!

Good Luck. :)

Yes, but make sure they start with W.I.P, or else they will be considered as pictures for your final entry.

One more question...
If (and this may not be me, I'm just wondering) either myself or Abby didn't have the bricks to build two planes, could we photograph one, break it, photograph a different one after it's been built and put the two pics together using an editing program, or would that be cheating? I only wondered because it would still show building skill and would not matter how many bricks you may have.

Just once (single shot). Like a pistol or shot gun. It can shoot any kind of piece (including LEGO rubber bands), but it MUST be able to fire a (single) lego piece! :)

Yes. Although if you want to make it shoot rapid fire go for it, but it is NOT required and won't affect the overall scoring of your entry.

Remember guys, all the judges mostly want to see is effort. As long as you try your best, that's all that matters.

Don't worry Round 5 won't be as challenging, but it could be parts consuming (depending on the person's building style). All I'm going to say is that, it will be easier to build for, but you will need to build on a VERY large scale! (not life-size, minifigure scale, with a little microscale mixed in).

You will have just over one month for Round 5, besides I'm giving the final two, a four day break to catch their breath and sort parts for the final round.

Keep at it guys.

If you need to post WIP shots feel free (I've opened up the group to unlimited creations) just make sure you delete ALL WIP shots by December 31st.

Yeah, I will do my best. I wasn't faulting you, categories should be challenging, that's what makes us better. Large scale? Hmm... wonder what that means... Does it imply that we would need a lot of bricks? :)

Well depends. Just a heads up the three subject groups to choose from in the Round 5 category will be:

Medieval/Castle Combat

Modern Combat

Future Combat

So, start planning and ordering bricks accordingly (depending on which combat area you choose).
