Thank you to everyone who participated in round one!

I haven't decided yet if there's going to be an MIT (still some leg work to do on that) but if we DO decide to do it, then that wouldn't start until AFTER round three (it's a numbers/categories thing).

I WILL keep you updated on that and let you know as soon as I know something.

Thanks again and good luck everyone!

Isn't that kind of unfair, since that means that the not as awesome builders will be placed with awesomer builders?

Which means that the awesome builders will be rewarded for doing well in round 2, and they get the chance to all move on to round 3. So that the best builders move on every time.

Round 2 match-ups are a bit uneven, but sometimes the lower scored contestant can beat their opponent.

Onto more important things, would someone please explain to me what an MIT is?

MOCPages Invitational Tournament - previously, depending on the number of entries for R1 of the MOC-Olympics, those who did not advance to the top 64 but were in the next 64 or 32 places in the scoring list have been invited to play in a side-tournament.

This has followed a similar format to the MOs - knock-out rounds based on an assigned category until a victor is decided, often with a prize for the winner.

It's generally been run alongside the MO's for the last couple of years after R1 and keeps up the interest and enthusiasm for some of those builders who still want to compete but find themselves eliminated from the main contest - One downside of such a long-running contest with over half the entrants eliminated in the first couple of weeks.

This year Chris has said that IF there is an MIT then it won't start until after R3, which will allow more competitors to be involved. It's a good idea as in previous years a builder good enough to get into R2 or R3 of the main contest could get eliminated but then not be eligable to enter the MIT, whereas someone who didn't pass the first round at all could win the MIT.

Hope that helps.

To be clear, I am not a judge or in any way involved in running the MO or MIT! I'm just relaying what has happened in previous years.

As I said before, Chris said that IF an MIT is run, it will be after R3 so I guess all losing competitors from R3, R2 and the best of the R1 builders who were not in the top 64 would get an invite. Of course not everybody who gets an invite actually plays so that can free up more places.

The best bet is to carry on with whatever you are doing for a few weeks (it will take a month at least for two more rounds of building and judging) and watch out for news or an invite!
