I have read the Bible... I'm not sure if you have though. Your telling me that anyone who doesn't believe in speaking in tounges despite they're belief in the Gospel makes it so that they will be in the rath of all that's evil??? I know that at one time you could speak in tounges but modern day.... Na. It's because there arn't any profits in modern day.

Really. I didn't say you weren't Christian, I said you don't read the Bible. In Acts the first divinely inspired action of His followers was to speak in tongues. If you don't believe me, pick up a Bible. I'm tired of unbiblical remarks from people who don't undersatnd their faith. Also, if you think there are no prophets anymore, you can take that up with God. He'll set you straight. I have learned hundreds of miracles in the present day. If you don't believe that then it's your loss.

You said that if you don't believe in speaking in tounges, then I don't believe the Bible. How can I not believe the Bible if I believe the Gospel which brings you to Heaven after life? Your response didn't make sense because it really applies to you, you don't understand what you claim to believe. Miricales are possible in modern day but they don't happen unless you believe in a cult.

Jesus turning water to wine was real. However, Jose healing a person with cancer by tounching they're coat isn't real and isn't possible.

So you don't believe God can perform miracles now? Well, if you don't believe, it's your loss. Your response was one of a single-minded individual who can't see other possiblities. God is all-powerful and never-changing, therefore he can do today what he did 2000 years ago.

as Timothy's friend and a Christian I feel like I should post here, even if I havent in awhile. yeah, I guess speaking in tongues is possible with God, but God gives everybody unique gifts. there were very few in the Bible who ever did that. most people who try to speak in tongues now really don't understand spiritual gifts.

After Jesus left, when Peter and the other 10 apostles gathered, 500 people spoke in tongues. Many said they were drunk, but they knew it was God. How can say the Bible doesn't mention speaking in tongues a lot? Anyway, speaking in tongues was not started by "Four Square", it was started by God. As I said, the only person losing is you by not believing. I know people who said the same thing you say, but then God gave them the gift of tongues and they believed. I know you don't care about what I just said because people who are convinced they're right won't see another view point. I know, because it happened to me once.

It was God's Holy Spirit that made the people speak in tounges.

Miracles DO happen nowadays. I have an uncle who is a missionary in Asia, and he's actually performed miracles.

Josh is right; speaking in tounges just isn't real these days. And I know that the Four Square didn't start it but they restarted it in a way. Four Square and another denomonation (I can't pronounce it) I think are the only ones that do it these days.

As for the last comment about his uncle performing miricales... It's a sham. That forein Ben guy dressed in all white that used to be on TV all the time was the same. And if those mircales were to be true, it's not from God.

Believe what you want. Your simply discarding one of God's greatest gifts to us. It says in Mark 16:17-18, "Theses signs shall accompany those who believe in my name; they shall cast out demons, they will speak with new tongues...they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover." Jesus said that. How can you argue against our creator?

I believe it but why does he need a language? He could telepathically speak, can't he?

Speaking in tongues can be many things. It can be a language we now nothing about, or it can be the tongue of the angels.

He was talking about himself. God never gave out superpowers like THAT.

NO, he wasn't talking about himself. He said "Those who believe in my name" How can you think he means himself?

I'm honestly not sure what that would mean then if you are right. And I would suppose it is refering to himself because he is the only person in the world who can do not every day things. Copy a few more versuses around it in your next post so that I can understand what it really means.

Read my previous post with the quote from Mark. If that isn't enough evidence for you, then you are seriously stubborn.

"my" My~ Possesive Noun ; Referring to a person's ownership (First Person) Syn: Mine, Ours, his, theirs, hers, . My= One person in the trinity
Go figure.

The Trinity is one and three. So, your point being about the word "my"?

What I'm saying is that both of you are in a sense right and wrong.

How?

I'm not trying to fight with you. It's just that I've been raised to believe/assume that most of that stuff is some sort of a fake sham if not all of it.

but if you read the Bible, you can't get around the fact that Gifts of the Spirit are real. Also, I'm sorry for being rude in some of my earlier posts.

I just reread my last post as my computer was acting slowly to come to the page so I could reply. In my last post I meant that I believed everything in the Bible but not everything in modern day which I think makes sense. Anyways, I just now took the time to read the verses you were quoting and sure enough, I was right. It wasn't talking about himself (which you were right about) but it was talking about his disciples and a large group of others who were given these abilities. BUT that was that time, and it doesn't apply to today. I'm guessing your uncle or yourself are New Age because that's what New Age believes in and then they add onto those verses and try to argue that they apply to today.

why cant the bible apply now?

I never said anything about my uncle. So, I'm not really sure where you got that from. About you saying that those verses were meant for then and not now. I don't understand how you can say that. God is the same today, yesterday and tomorrow. The Bible says he is never-changing. So why would a never changing God give gifts to people 2000 years ago, but not now? The truth is, he gave people gifts of healing and tongues then, and he gives gifts of healing and tongues now. If he never changes, then he would keep giving gifts of the spirit always.
