Favorite Tanks

Here you can share your favorite tank that you have played with in-game. Mine is probably the American M2 Medium (tier 3) or the Soviet T-28 (tier 4) ( I'm not up to tier 5 yet ).

EDIT: I think after 4,700 battles, 1 tier 8 tank, 4 tier 7s, and7 tier 6s, it's time for a more updated list. Favorite tier 5: M4, T-25, Grille, KV-1. Tier 6: TOG ll*, Type 58. Tier 7: IS, KV-13.

my favorite tank so far would be either the pz. III/IV or the Alecto. I am thinking about going down the russian line to the KV-1.

Yea, that's why I'm playing with the T-28. Its the tank right before KV-1. *starts laughing maniacally* I can't wait for KV-1.

Favorite tank? Well I love my Hellcat tank destroyer, its just a fun tank to have. And after building the 38(t), that little tank has kind of grown on me. But right about now, anything is better than the T25/2...

I sold that tank. It was such a disappoint after the Hellcat (about 560 battles with it so far)

Btw, now that I have an IS-3 I can say it might be my new favorite. Also, I tried out the T-62A on the test servers and I loved it. It has insane turret rotation and RoF and pretty good mobility too.

IS-3 looks awesome but I have gotten nowhere on the Russian line and it's already taken a long time to the T25/2. And the 25/2 actually has gotten a little better for me, just not like the Hellcat was.

Suffer through the AMX 40? The AMX 38, or the Hotchkiss H35, those are bad! The AMX 40 is not a brilliant tank to play but it looks funny and is much better than the first two. But the ELC AMX is simply brilliant!

And my new favorite seems to be the JagdPzIV, tier 6 TD. A great way up to the JgPanther!

the JP IV has rather bad stock guns, and long EXP grind to get stuff. Stock, it's worse than the STuG. At least, that's what I can pick up off the wiki: http://wiki.worldoftanks.com/JagdPz_IV

One of my favorites is actually the M7. Why? Not because it's ridiculously good, but because the QF 6-pdr is so fun.

Also, I like most of the American turreted TDs that I've tried (M8A1, T49, and hopefully Hellcat soon). They've all been really fun tanks to drive.

Also, Matilda. I've seen replays of a matilda taking on nearly the entire enemy team by itself and WINNING. It was taking fire from almost everyone at once and everything just kept bouncing off it. It pretty quickly killed the only tanks that stood a chance at penetrating it, and all that was left was lights with auto-loaders. It only lost because it had about a minute to go and the last player on the enemy team was an AFK M5 Stuart at the enemy base (all this mayhem occurred at the friendly base, because everyone else on the team had died, including a T18 driver who accused the Matilda in particular of being a noob. He ate his words.)

My all-time favourite is the Cromwell. I had 60.000 free XP on it (even after I got Comet), because it was just so much fun. Runner up must be... T29. That tank is just too amazing, I actually liked it better than I like my T110E5. Third place is divided between SU-152 and Type T-34. You can see me playing Cromwell and Type T-34 on my channel:

I love the Panzer 3 A (tier 3), have the crew working on camouflage and the commander with 6th sense. In tier 4 I like the Panzer 4, Matilda, Marder 38T and Hetzer.
I do like the mobile bunker buster, the King of Derp, the Kv-2(tier 6), as well. I like the Churchill 1, Kv-1, and Panzer 4 in tier 5 as well. Of course, the reason for me joining the game was the Tiger 1, which has been my first Tier 7. I've maxed it out, having researched the Tiger 2 yesterday, but I'm still going to keep it.

A few tanks I have a soft for (they are all or have been in my garage):
Hetzer: 105 mm "derp" cannon with HEAT shells is just amazing
Marder 38T: very rapid firing gun, very fast aswell
Ferdinand: Great armor, excellent gun.
Centurion 7/1: Great speed, great gun, troll-ish armor
Cromwell: Amazing speed, amazing rapid firing gun, excellent for flanking
M18 Hellcat: Same as Cromwell, but more damage in the gun
Conqueror: amazing gun, amazing speed for a heavy
ELC AMX: Great speed, great gun, great low profile
M24 Chaffee: Great speed, great turn speed, good radio.
KV-2: King of Derp, because of the 152 mm gun, and great ability in tier 6 games.
I like almost all the tanks I encountered to get my best tanks, but these are the ones I love the most.

Not very well, but I once managed to get 2 tier 7s that had very low health left and the medal for it while playing a friends account at their house. I also got it in the D2, tier 3 French medium, taking out a T49 and a Pz. 4.

Most certainly. You get reliable penetration, a lot more RoF, consistent damage (always around 110), it's more accurate (A LOT more accurate) and the shell flies faster.
OR you could ditch the Pz.IV and go for Pz.III/IV, which is superior in everything, still my fav tier 5.

Seriously tho, Pz.IV is not suited for frontlines. At all. It has bad armour, and low HP and just can't last. It is much beter employed as a mobile sniper that can sometimes brawl. If you do mount the 10.5cm, then your job is to take out soft targets, like T49s and such, battling heavies is not recommended unless in extreme situations. If you do want to derp however, I suggest you go down the line to SU-152. That tank is a real beast that can lob a 920 damage HE shell into a tiger's face without regret :D

I didn't play any of them (I went american and soviet heavies). I'd say Tiger P, because you really need that extra 100 armour and it has same gun as Tiger. Depends really what you want on tier 10, E-100 or the Maus... but on Tiger P you do get the option to go to Ferdinand which kicks some butt.
Oh, and I advise you against the british heavy line, because it's pain and suffering up to tier 10, which is worse than T110E5 if you are relatively new to the game.

the only problem is I'm stuck on the m3 lee. But Is it better to go up to the m4 then to the M4a3e2 then go down to the t29. why is the britt line so bad, it doesn't seen too bad. Also have you ever worked down the brittish TD line because the AT-2 is quite fun to play but its slow.

The M3 Lee isn't so bad, just play it like a TD with more armor and hp. Don't play it like a medium. The M4 is simply amazing. 3.5 second reload with 120 damage, good pen, and great accuracy, makes for some really high damage games. The M4A3E2 is slow, but has ridiculous frontal turret and hull armor. It won't save you from tier 7s or 8s, but tier 6 & 5 probably won't pen you. Same style of gun as the M4. The T29 is also amazing. If you come to it from the E2 though, you have to play completely stock for a while, which is torture, as you are using a 76mm gun. You can unlock the 90mm ( second gun on the T29 ) from going through the heavy line ( T1 HT and M6 ) though. Good luck.

The British medium line is the best thing to ever happen to me, Cromwell is really the ultimate flank tank. I got up to Comet when I realised I don't need another medium and left the tree.
The heavy line though, is torture at startt. The Churchills are slow and only armoured in places with inadequate guns (churchill VII and Cromwell use the same gun (and comet too)). The Black Prince isn't much better, but it does turn very fast, mediums can't flank you. At tier 8 it gets better with a fast shooting gun with more pen, the Conqueror is awesome and the tier 10 is horrible and noone ever uses it for CW. Hope this helps ;D

8.11 itself is great. You can shoot through some fences and cars and such, losing pen but the shot still goes through. Great new maps. As for the "inadequate players" problem ( please don't say n 0 0 b, it triggers the censor ), it seems to have evened out a bit more. Games 15>2 aren't happening quite as often. You should at least try it out again, IMO.

I agree and disagree. I have travelled down both the medium and heavy lines to tier 10. The Churchill's are awful, the Black Prince (if you angle it well!) Is better, the Caernarvon is good, but the gun is a bit disappointing, the Conqueror is one of my favorite tanks ever (I have played 450+ games in it), and the FV215b is not really good, but it does the job, and I like it. The mediums, Cromwell is amazing, also one of my favorits, the Comet is good but you need some gold ammo because of the terrible matchmaking. The Centurion I is also great, but a horrid stock grind, but my all time favorite medium tank is the Centurion VII. Great gun (great reload with 100% loader and gun rammer aswell), can bounce the necessary shots, and great speed and Mobility. The FV4202 is cool, but I miss the quick firing 20-pounder to choose from. I always use the 105 on the Centurion but in platoons I use the 20-pdr (mostly because my best friend uses the 122 on his WZ-120 :)).

The Churchill's are awful.

It's just a matter of opinion, but I think the 2 Churchills are okay. They could use a little more speed, but they have armor. I've gotten Steel Wall and Top Gun a few times in the Churchill 7, and even a Bruno's Medal. I also got Invader in the Churchill I, being the last member of my team against 2 SPGs, who could have easily killed me.

The only Churchill I like playing is my Churchill III. I got it 50% off and I will never regret this, it's faster than churchill I and has an insane gun - the 6-pounder has low damage, but it has enough pen and 1.9 seconds of reload. that's right, BELOW TWO SECONDS. AND it has prefferential MM, it sees only tier 5 and 6 battles. I really recommend it to everyone, as long as you have a Russian heavy crew to train on it - I'm currently training my IS crew. Even if we lose I still make 500-1000 XP and I don't have a premium account.

Yeah, awful is not the right word for it. They are not really my type, and not really a great grind to the BP and the greatness after that.

I agree on the type part. I myself like mobile vehicles, and my T30 is just about as much as I can handle. Most of my vehicles are medium tanks and even my heavies have to be mobile - E5 and my current grind, IS. I will soon buy KV-4 and I cannot possibly imagine playing it, but it's still faster than the churchill.

KV-4 can haul it pretty well with the 2x V-2K-F engine. It reminded me more of a bulky sluggish medium with the long 107mm. Hope you enjoy it.

My favorites (based on the tanks I've played, I'm only on Tier 5):

--AT-2
Got my first ever Top Gun today after a six-kill game. It also earned me a Class 1 95% Mastery Badge and many other badges that I receive nearly every time I play the AT-2, especially Steel Wall.

--KV-1
Even stock, it's a monster. My first game playing it, I got a Class 3 50% Mastery badge. Even put in Tier 7 games, it can be a slow support tank, although it's somewhat frustrating when a GW Panther takes 4 shots to kill.

--T-28
After selling it this morning for the KV-1, I've missed it, but the grind was well worth it and the ZiS-4 was absolutely amazing!

I can add a new favorite to my list:
--Covenanter: A couple weeks after my AT-2 Top Gun game, I got Ace Tanker in this little bugger after doing some active scouting on the ridge between the spawns on Prokhorovka then pulled back and waited a little bit for enemy tanks to take some damage, then rolled out again and picked off a low-health Marder 38T, followed by a T-46. The Pom-Pom is probably the best gun at Tier 4 other than the ZiS-4 and the Matilda's 2-pdr Mk. X.

--A-20: I play it similarly to the Covenanter, except I don't scout at the beginning. The stock 45mm is excellent for picking off low-health enemies with its ruinous ROF.
