Welcome to Round 2 of the 2013 Middle Earth MocAthalon! First off, thank you to all the contestants who entered this year. You did amazing, and I hope to see you all back next year. Congrats to all the contestants who made it into Round 1. It was hard to judge, you all had fantastic entries. To those who didn't make it, don't feel bad, you guys did amazing!

All right, now that I've gotten the introduction out of the way, I'll get on to the brackets, matchups, categories, and required materials. Before you read any further, though, I suggest you return to the Rules Topic to refresh your memory. We don't wish to DQ anyone for forgetting a rule and such.

Round 2 will begin now and end on July 17, 2013 at 11:59 pm MOCpages time.

Required Materials:

For Round 2, please make sure you have the following materials in your entry.

Title:
Please title your entry:
MEMA Round 2: [Your name] vs. [Your Opponents Name]

Please include a working link to the group in your entry. Also, A link to your opponent's page should be included, if you enter after your opponent. A link to your creation should also be included in the appropriate thread.

Please also state your category and bracket at the top of your entry.

Now, ladies and gentlemen, the moment you've all been waiting for: The brackets, matchups, and categories!

This years Round 2 theme: The Hobbit

The Elven Bracket:

KW Vauban vs. Jensen Anderson
Category: Riddles in the Dark
Bilbo is lost in the caves of the Misty Mountains! Stumbling across the creature Gollum, Bilbo agrees to play a game of riddles for Gollum to tell him the way out. But if Bilbo loses, Gollum gets to eat him!

Chris vs. Lee Muzzy
Category: Barrels Out of Bond
Thorin and his company of Dwarves have been captured by the Elves of Mirkwood. Bilbo must use his magic ring to help the dwarves escape. In order to escape, he must shove the poor dwarves in barrels and throw them into the river. Sounds fun!

The judges in the Elven Bracket will be Halhi 141, David, and David the Fire Ninja Jedi.

The Dwarven Bracket:

A M vs. Petric G
Category: Dale
Use your Imagination for this category! Draw what you imagine the ruins of Dale to look like after Smaug visited, when Thorin was a young dwarf.

Andrew the Jedi Ninja vs. Finn Tegotash
Category: Mirkwood Forest
The dwarves must face the perils of Mirkwood Forest in order to get to the Lonely Mountain. They must evade capture by the Mirkwook Elves, and watch out for the Giant Spiders!

The judges in the Dwarven Bracket will be A Sargent, Freeling++, and Michael Kringe.

Good luck to all contestants in Round 2, and let the building commence!

So for clarification, judges: I am to build the RUINS of Dale only, post-Smaug attack?

I'm busy working on a MOC right now, so I won't be able to leave in-depth comments explaining my votes for this round. Sorry about that. I'll try to leave a more detailed comment once the round is over.

Less than 2 hours remaining!

Bad news, the uploader is refusing to work at my house. I think it has something to do with some new software we just installed. If our judges can't grant me an extended deadline (assuming it doesn't start working before midnight), I'll accept that and take the defeat. But it would be appreciated... very much. Sorry about all this.

Um, Chris, do you mind judging in place of Freeling in the Dwarven Bracket this Round? He hasn't been very active lately. Just A M vs Petric G and Finn vs Andrew. Thanks!

That's not really fair to have a contestant judge...and those match-ups have already been decided.
