I'm throwing in with General Otiosus on this one. While I agree, this is a pool of hungry sharks the fact is that General Otiosus just mashed an entire clause into a single noun.

Giant "not-moons-but-space-stations"

And THAT is better than giant sharks.

Which film is it, where they build a Second, giant "not-moons-but-space-stations?"

Of course, we could go Planet of the Apes and call it "Conquest of the Conversation.

The solitary point of contention was my participation in multiple Treaty Organizations. Since that issue is non-negotiable for Eastern Pyrenees Command, I took it upon myself to leave GWC before I was asked to leave. It was regrettable, I thought other solutions ere available, but the active nations of the GWC are as strict about their security as I am about diplomatic freedom.

The main point of this is that we prefer to have one strong alliance of loyal members. This is to ensure that our targets are clear and our secrets are ours.

Yep, it is good to have many backs ready for stabbing. Your allies get to fear you. Also many more ILIes.

I prefer to build my alliance on respect though. I will not say I do not respect your military power, but your political standings... An alliance that accepts a member of another alliance is endangered of having multiple such instances in group, which can be a big problem in joined expansion, which is the only good offensive use of an alliance.

THE FOLLOWING IS A DECISIVE ACTION NEWS UPDATE…

Global transportation experts are calling it “The mother of all traffic jams. Across the globe, road ways, rail heads, ports, and air transportation hubs are at all functioning at maximum capacity, as military forces from at least 27 nations rumble into what experts are calling “Staging Positions.” Road networks are saturated with untold thousands of military vehicles, frozen for hours, and days in some cases. Several reports from less developed economic regions tell of vast formations of dismounted troops moving on foot toward staging bases along national borders. Presumably, an overture to offensive expeditions across those borders. Most military analysts agree, tonight, the world is poised on the brink of AW3.

The last two AWs brought astounding changes to our world. New nations sprang out of the wilderness. Some have already doubled in size since their founding. While many experts note several possible flash points across the globe tonight, the prevailing opinion is that most commanders will seek “No Cost Growth” over direct international conflict. This means that most nations will attack territories that are still unclaimed by any rival nations. Most national leaders regard these so called “White Territories” as a natural resource, to be claimed and exploited to bolster their nation’s strength, prestige, and later to provide tactical options during international military conflicts.

Still, military experts point out that there is the potential for what they describe as “Decisive Action.” Several nations are in position to attack neighbors. And despite a rapidly growing system of “Treaty Organizations” (TOs), some nations remain diplomatically isolated and extremely vulnerable to attack.
Others perceive the Treat Organizations themselves as a destabilizing factor. The GWC for example, was predicted to play a major role in AW2, where it was thought they would pacify portions of Europe and Africa. The GWC shocked the world however, by staying its hand, and opting out of any violent action what so ever. Tonight, in the wake of an internal power shift, and the departure of that TOs most powerful commander, General Electric, many regard the GWC as a wild card. The cabals enigmatic leader, General Squid has been holding himself in seclusion, and his staff is has remained tight lipped about GWC intent. The question for many in Europe and Africa tonight is “What role will the GWC play in our futures.”

In addition to the movements of these established military titans, small nations continue to form and mobilize for war. Current estimates place the number of new nations we can expect to emerge from AW3 as high as 3!

Regardless of specific outcomes this much is certain: The number of white territories remaining at the end of AW3 will be greatly reduced. And with the reduction of “No Cost Growth” options, the likelihood of Decisive Actions increases greatly.

THIS HAS BEEN A DECISIVE ACTION NEWS UPDATE.
WE NOW RETURN TO YOUR REGULARLY SCHEDULED BROADCASTS.
TRANSMISSION ENDS….

No, you don't need aircraft or battle ships... but you DO NEED A SEA TRANSPORT.

I know you are not a fan of going to the rule page, so I brought the relevant rule to you. It comes from paragraph 2 of the ATTACK RANGE post on the RULES thread.

I invite your attention to the last sentence below:

You can only attack across water if you have a MOC of a Transport Ship or a Transport Aircraft posted in the MOC pool. There is ONE exception to this rule: If you START on an island, you can attack any territory that SHARES the same sea zone as that island. (for example, P9 can attack EA35 on turn 2). This DOES NOT WORK THE OTHER WAY. You CAN NOT attack form EA25 to P9 in turn 2. This rule is to prevent players who start on an island from being frozen there forever. Players who start on non-coastal islands (like P12 for example) WILL be frozen there for the entire game. And... you still have to have a MOC of a transport boat to do it.

It's not an edit, or a change. The wording is slightly confusing, but the last sentence should remove any doubt.

By way of illustrating the consistency with witch this rule is applied, I direct your attention to this post:

It is my explanation of this exact concept to General Lucas. It happened yesterday, before the attack window opened.

This is not a pleasant fact, but both you and General Ninja have violated this rule and declared attacks without the required capabilities (Logistical Power MOCs).

Both you and General Ninja have wasted your attacks for AW3.

I am very sorry. I know this is frustrating. But for an army to cross water, it has to have boats. They have always needed boats, and they always will. I will not compromise on this rule.

First of all Yadap was the first to announce he was going to be taking EA-12, and he stated it a week before you did on his infantry squad.

General Squid.

I might have whispered to my cat that I was going to take EA-12 back in 1985... but that wouldn't make it legal or meaningful in DA.

Attacks that matter are declared on the ATTACKS thread, during the ATTACK WINDOW.

The rest is just so much hot air.

By the way, glad to see the FENS establishing control of Schloss Europa.

The GWC has turned the heat back on. Well done!

Large forces are gather upon my frontier, I have decided to consolidate my holdings in one or two provinces though it may mean sacrificing another. Rest assured that Maritime facilities are developing a counter attack, the encroachment of some 4 nations is unacceptable.

General Ravenchist.

Your situation is dire. It might take more than your considerable building skills to survive these cruel days. I would consider using all forms of power at your disposal.

Perhaps your TO should consider the merits of expanding its membership?
