*Horns blaring* *Calling all admins* *Calling all admins* THE BANNER HTML FOR THE FACTION FLAG ON THE MAIN PAGE OF LOM ISN'T SHOWING. IT JUST SHOWS THE PICTURE. Now, go fix it. It can be fixed by spacing out the HTML in one part, and then saying below to just delete the spaces between (<a href= & >) . Not that those certain HTML codes may be found in the banner HTML, but that was just an example. NOW GO FIX IT

I have the next universal challenge for the group!
I think it should start august 30th. so the summer goes out with a bang!
Okay, here it is!

Fighting back:

Mythron is launching a massive attack on Rainos.
Although reluctant, all soldiers, woodsmen, and women available...the time is now! Mythron is making it's boldest move upon Rainos EVER!
The question is, will the ships make it to Rainosian ground, or will other forces become...involved?

Now I currently only have "Preview," but I'd request David TFNJ to officially be the universal challenge publisher. I really enjoyed what he did with current UC! Not saying other admins can't come up with ideas, but I think it does an excellent job with the faction perspectives:)

So what do you think?

Good plan. I'll join the challenge if I can, and if not I'll be glad of the tourism on behalf of Rainos. The subtle plug for the pirates is also nice. I think you could have made up some tasks for Nerogue and the Outlaws, though, instead of waiting for FNJ.

For example, the Outlaws take the opportunity to wreak havoc or expand their operations, even trying to loot towns and cities - as long as the Mythronians aren't forcing them to row galleys. The Nerogues, eager to show their good intentions, will sign a treaty with Mythron but, due to the distance to Rainos and their lack of ships, most of them will stay in Mythron to counteract the aforementioned crime wave.

Very nice additions! The treaty is an excellent idea...but one problem, I understood that the outlaws were going into the mountains?

Anyways, it'll be really cool to get some ships and water fight builds!

I've recovered from my last attempt at shipwrighting. Bring it on!
Come to think of it, that might be a good way to do a collaborative build - each person builds a ship and then they fight.

Don't you think those banners need to be a link? I mean, click on them.. And it takes you to the group, or the thread or whatever? Just check out my homepage. You'll see what I did. And if we want more members, we need links to the group. Just pictures saying Outlaws or Rainos popping up on peoples pages are only confusing other people who don't know what Mythron is.

Sounds good. You should do it all in one MOC. Just take some pictures, and do a story... And then come back later when you have time, and build something else in the story.... And so on. It doesn't matter how long it takes, I'm sure it would come out good... Or you could just do it in parts if you wish. I don't know what you're wanting to do, I'm just throwing ideas out there.

You get the idea?

Sorry I missed this earlier. FNJ and I typically do the homepage updating, but the HTML goes funny any time someone goes to edit the group details without stopping by the "Homepage HTML" thread on this site to pick up the fix we developed, which comes in the form of a very quick and simple copy-and-paste maneuver. I suggest checking that topic out if you haven't done so.

We also tried to put the HTML for the banners in the faction threads, but the code messes up the formatting and renders parts of the comment illegible. Some of the faction leaders also keep HTML codes for the banners on their personal home pages in case of emergencies such as this.

I will now go and repair the banner codes and probably make a few other changes and updates as well.

I have an idea...Why don't we change things as far as challenges go?
Example:
Once a month we have a universal challenge...the majority of the admins agree that a monthly UC would be better! They're more engaging, and more fun. But Regional Challenges are fun as well! So I think each factional leader should make a proper space on their faction thread. (This would need to be on the first main comment) So once a month the independent factional leaders plan their own RC. I think that it would be very fun to see the variety that the Factions come up with. So tell me what you think...

Long live the UCs!
Maybe, instead of splitting the RC into five separate challenges for each faction, one person could create a non-specific base challenge for everyone, and then the faction leaders could come up with specialized takes on it. From what I've seen of rogue challenges, people are more likely to participate if a challenge is announced throughout the main group. Also, to prevent the RC from detracting from the UC (which was the driving concern behind the 1 challenge/month change), the RC can come out halfway through the month and earn its competitors three or four points instead of five.

The thing is, UCs involve entire factions, and Regional Challenges involve each person's character. Right now, Regional Challenges have not had as specific ideas for each faction, mostly broad, whereas the UCs have been more specific. To me, I don't think we can have so many huge challenges, I think we would run out of big events to do, making the story move along way too fast. But we could make the Regional Challenges much more exciting by making them more specific. I'd say keep the points at 5 for both challenges.

When we get at least 20 entries on any given Universal or Regional Challenge, we can give out first place prize of 10 points (instead of five) and second place prize points of 5. Then, if we get at least 30 entries (that is a LOT), then 1st place 15, 2nd 10, and 3rd 5.

I don't think having a fast-moving plot is a problem. We can always string UCs together; the next challenge chronicles the beginning of an invasion of Rainos, but the movement itself can be strung out over multiple months. October can have the Rainosians going on the defensive on land, for example, or the Mythronians regrouping for a second offensive if the barbarians and pirates repel the fleet.
The rest of your thoughts sound good. I like the multiple-place idea.
