Yeah, no larger roofs. I will have to try some 1x1 round plates instead of just 1x1 plates to break the texture up a little more, but I think it works well for small straw roofs.

I was thinking that it looked more like a tiled roof than anything else. Straw normally points down and away from the peak of the roof - this runs more horizontally.

Meaning my rants about BL incompetence?

Yeah.

So, I'm assuming you've read David's UC. The BL were originally a small-time assassination club, but Borin, the new king's brother and I think Rowan's son, recruited the BL inner council to help him destroy Mythron. All along, however, he didn't want to see Mythron annihilated- he wanted to conquer the capital so he could become king. The entire saga of the Black Lotus was a cover story for Borin to gain the kingship.

It could be that Borin intentionally lowered the standards of the Black Lotus. That way, he woudl be able to lead Mythron's army against the Black Lotus to victory. Or, it could be that he preferred to focus on attacking the city and finally getting the throne than on preserving the Black Lotus' reputation. After all, you need grunts, too, because ninjas don't like battering rams.

Borin meant to seize power immediately after Rowan's death, but events transpired to block him. For one thing, the BL specializes in murder, not PR, and so their tone-deaf propaganda ended up uniting their foes. For another, it took longer than Borin had expected to gather his forces, and he eventually lost his chance for a lightning strike on the palace. With an army surrounding the city that could conterattack any attempt at a coup, he figured he had to make a full assault to seize power for good.

Oh, come on. That technique must have been around for ages. I know that I came up with it a few months back, but I didn't think it was worth using because it makes the legs even more ridiculously short than normal. The best way to make a minifigure taller is by putting plates on the bottoms of its feet.

Like I said above it was a coincidence. The thing that threw me off was everyone on the Flickr page talking about it as if it were a new technique.

The problem with plates on the bottom of the feet is that that makes the feet look rídiculously tall. I need to find some solution that balances out the good aspects of both, I suppose.

It makes him look like he's standing on something. Each leg is a bit under a stud wide, so the 1x1 plates are thicker than the legs and, especially when his legs are together, don't look like part of his leg/foot.

Now, let's see if I can get this straight...

Halbert is your main character, the one you were planning to send to Falmor. His father was murdered by Outlaws.

Filberth is Halbert's best friend and Darden's brother.

Darden is a mysterious Mythronian from a wealthy family who inexplicably headed north and is mixed up with some sort of crime ring.

Reghof seems to be replacing Halbert as main character. He is a friend of Filberth and Inigo and is in at least his late thirties. Currently he is tracking down Darden and does not know where his wife, Lucy, is.

Inigo, about 31, is a former employee of an Outlaw gang although he comes from a wealthy Mythronian family like the rest of the club, and he is a newfound friend of Reghof. He knows more about Lucy's whereabouts than he tells Reghof.

Fargon is a Halidra who helped Halbert in the Tourney.

Most of that's right (and I'm putting together an extensive recap as part of my UC...)
Filberth and Inigo are the ones searching for Darden, not Reghof. Reghof is in Meids, but he's returning as a war hero and generally he's going to get a more political standpoint than the other characters. Main character...maybe. His storyline is going to go completely away from the other characters' though.

The whole Lucy thing was resolved in my last UC - Lucy was captured (and killed? I forgot, to be honest) by a member of Inigo's gang (said member is now dead).

And I decided to give Fargon to Kai - I was planning to do a minor storyline with him and Halbert, but I forgot/didn't have time.

Other than that, everything's right - nice!

As to the first: the ship landed in Meids to announce the challenge, and Reghof snuck aboard. As to the latter, you're right - she is kidnapped. Hm, I suppose I could fit that into my story; I'd forgotten that she was still alive.

Oh, good point. The Boss is supposed to be a really intimidating person and taller than most people. Maybe the height difference is a bit unrealistic, but it does a better job of proving the point. Gilbert has also used some taller characters - Falk and Emma, I believe, though Emma was only used in one build which was built in bigger-than-minifigure scale

The first thing that pops into my mind is that the arms look very unnatural. How you would solve the issue, I don't know, but I am pretty sure there is a good way to make them look more natural. Maybe with one of these (http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=11090), a minifig hand and some flex tubing... next, the neck looks too long. I think both the shoulder-guards (or whatever they are) and the grey piece under the head should be replaced to make the neck shorter. Otherwise, I think he looks nice. I also like what I see in the background... is it a WIP?

I'm not going to critique the figure - Mr. Cab covered that - but I'm interested in your choice of archvillain. Your building style is as close to realism as possible, but here you have a figure who looks like he comes from a superhero comic or the end of a level in a videogame. The figure is stylized in a dozen ways, but the house behind him is all about finesse. It's an unusual mix. I'll be watching to see how it turns out.

Although I did modify it for brick-built rather than minifigure legs. Anyway, Halhi's right - there are few, if any, similarities beyond the boots. The Boss' Bionicle torso swivels at the jumper plate at the top of his legs while Megan's and Sir Fulk's hinge backwards and forwards at the waist of their skeleton torsos. The front capes are attached to different places as well - versions 4.0 and 4.1 of my line, the archer and the knight, use the neck joints while the Boss (version 2.0 of Halhi's line, I believe) uses the shoulders. I also use one rubber band as a belt while Halhi uses two. My arms are made of minifigure hands placed in skeleton arms, his are from the Bionicle set that gave him the torso. Finally, mine are taller and slimmer and WAY more expensive in the cape department, as I have come to regret - 4.0 uses two for front and back detailing and 4.1 uses a total of four.

Oh, the Boss won't be featured in my UC - I have a month or so to perfect his design before he finally gets shown. Yeah, I suppose I see what you mean - he is very different from most of my characters, but I'm hoping that I can develop him to fit in more (both personality-wise and aesthetically)

Actually the legs are attached by clips to a pneumatic t joint, so they both swivel and hinge back and forth. Everything else is right though (speaking of capes, I wish I had more - all I have is a few of these ones with the star pattern on one side in black, a dark green one, and a red one), although unless I'm forgetting something, this is my first figure of this sort. Well, the first you've seen, anyway - I made a very bulky and interestingly styled Reidak (intended for the CMC, but it wasn't allowed) but I never posted any pictures of that.

I'll hopefully be starting my swordsmen of the shadows series soon. I'll be putting a LOT of work into it. And I know. I was in a dark age for a while. Not wanting to build. Only wanting to lift weights. But I'm back to building again. (Not that I've stopped lifting weights. That'll never happen.) But anyways. I'm sick. I threw up yesterday. And I have a pretty bad headache. I do feel considerably better than I did yesterday though.

That's interesting, there seem to be a lot of tall characters about these days. He looks pretty good on the whole, but the sword is long enough to justify strapping it to his back with the spear. Also, can you get that rubber band to go from hip to shoulder instead of hip to hip, or is it holding something in place other than the sword? That would help with sheathing his tools on his back.

Depends on the kind of look you're going for. Either way, make sure to add variation - with a brick road, add studs, tiles of different sizes, plants overhanging to get a curved edge (only in a few places though, not for the whole thing), green/brown/dark tan plates mixed in. With a non-brick road, again add variation - tile use, small rocks/pebbles, small plants, mud puddles, etc.

I can't imagine bricks for a small village, unless it's built over a highway. Brick or cobbles I associate more with towns.

Here's a question. I'm building a medieval village, and I'm trying to decide weather I should have a brick road or a dark tan road. Thoughts?

You could combine those two. On my latest, I have a dark tan road with dark bley stones, which works pretty well.

Hopefully you don't need all 300-some pictures. Let me guess - a lot of them are duplicates taken from nearly the same angle of the same set-up, right?

You don't have to be as good as the best to post. Even if your build isn't that good people will comment and try to help you improve. Also, if you're lacking system, then build small. Your character intro was small, but it looked pretty good! Have a shot at it and see how you do.

My camera has a bad tripod, so some of the pictures always end up fuzzy. I took about three to six pictures of each angle, but the story will still need 45 pictures (probably my second-largest story to date), and I have 10 more extra angles of characters and the build. So overall, the upload will have 55 pictures.

When I do MOCpages, I do what Wolverine suggested. But another thing I do (with comments especially) Is reloading this page in another tab periodically so that it keeps me logged in:
http://mocpages.com/activity.php

Before I submit, I re-load that page again so that it'll prompt me to log-in. Once I'm in on that page, I can safely hit continue on my comment. (I also ctrl C everything as well)

I think there's usually a way to delete individual photos. On my camera (and my mom's), there's four directional buttons on the side, and I click the bottom one to delete them. You might have to google how to do it for your dad's camera, but there's probably a way.

I always get confused when people call me Caballek on a site where it isn't my username. :P I /am/ starting to notice that Mr. Cab is hard to abbreviate, and the Mr. doesn't really work out. Cab works in German, but not in English... My concern with "Cabby" is that it sounds like a small kid's name. For longer names, there would be an abbreviation, but cab is already an abbreviation (my initials), so it's hard to abbreviate it any further. I might change my username to something else for a few days just to see how it works out.

I don't need grass parts, I need green plates.

I did also pick up a lot of green 1x2 plates. It's painstaking to landscape with those, though. I would have taken 2x4 green plates, but they didn't have any, so 1x2 had to do. :P

For longer names, there would be an abbreviation, but cab is already an abbreviation (my initials), so it's hard to abbreviate it any further.

Okay... CAB?

I've never tested it out, but I assume that you could use the grass pieces over a different colored ground (dark tan or brown) and it would look good if you have one on each stud.

It doesn't work on any color - they don't pack that tightly, so brown is a good option. Hmm, I just had an idea...
