Alright Halo fans, I'm in need of your assistance!

I've been giving some SERIOUS consideration to doing a 6 to 8 foot model of the Spirit of Fire as my next big SHIP. However, there's a serious lack of reference pics out there on the web.

I'm hoping some of you may be able to tell me how to get my scheming mitts on some good shots of the Spirit. I don't have a 360, or I would just access the cut scenes from Halo Wars ("All it did was point" and Big dog walking" have some good quick pics). But I'm hoping one of you might know where some stills from these scenes might be found...or some schematics hiding out there in cyberspace...or SOMETHING!

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. I'd love to make this thing a reality, but I'm going to need more than just what I've found on line so far (which is this shot: http://www.halowars.com/images/screenshots/sof_800.jpg).

Many thanks to anyone who can help!!!

I don't have Halo Wars, but I'm sure one of my friends have it. If I do get someone, I'll have them get good screenshots of that ship. I can't guarantee that I could get pictures, but I will try, because I would want to see something like that built.

YES HALO FANS!!!! WE HAVE FINALLY INFECTED MARK KELSO WITH THE HALO MADNE- UH.....umm.....i mean.... you should look for videos on youtube of missions 11 and 12 (they take place in the TOP of the ship) and check out this picture for a general view....

By the way is that just about the size you're looking for in the end result? (compared to the vurtual people standin' around...)
hope I helped!

Hey Kelso, can't you just look at Youtube for those videos?

Yep...BUT, the resolution is unfortunately too poor. I need more detail in the shots than the Youtube videos provide. I've thought of actually going to Blockbuster video and renting a game and system (assuming you can rent a system)...but it would take too much time to learn the game and get to the levels with the appropriate cut scenes before having to return things.

What I'd really like to do would be to run the cut scenes on a wide screen tv, and actually photograph the tv screen as the images are playing. I did that with the Invisible Hand and I think that would do the trick here as well...but again, no xbox. *Sigh*

A good bit larger, actually. I'm thinking along the same lines as the Invisible Hand that I did...maybe just a bit larger. (Can't go more than eight feet, though, so it can fit in my van for Brickworld).

That was a decent reference pic, by the way. It didn't have any detail, but gave me a nice overview of the proportions. Thanks!

As far as levels 11 and 12 go, it's tough to describe, but I'll give it a shot here...
I had looked at that. It seems to me that the amount of deck space you see in the game play is different than the amount of deck space you see in the reference pictures. In the game, there's tons of room up on top, but if you look closely at the available reference picture, there's very little flat deck space. I even read a comment somewhere on line talking about how the design of the ship was changed somewhat for the sake of the game play on those two levels.

If I borrow the game from somebody or rent it I could do exactly that. My TV is widescreen and my camera is very high resolution.

That's an amazing offer, but too much trouble for me to ask of you.

Besides, our own Lee Jones mentioned to me that he was going to start the game, and has offered to take some shots for me. I'll take him up on it since he was planning on playing the game anyway, but I was hoping to get rolling on this fairly soon.

Very nice of you to offer, though, really...my thanks!

Well, Mark, I hope it works out, and maybe you could start giving Halo a good name like it deserves. Look at your Invisible Hand, ever since you built that, a million have popped up :D

Hopefully I can provide a nice addition to the Halo category here on MOCpages. I'll only do this project if I feel I can do it justice, though. Otherwise, I'll look towards something else. I won't go into any details, but I have a feeling the Halo fans will be liking other additions to the "portfolio" later this year, too.

Well, I found the "Art of Halo" in the book stores. Had some great images, but nothing of the Spirit of Fire.

I'm surprised this is so tough to find images of, given that it's such a significant ship in the game.

Thanks Andy, but that's the one I already have. I'm trying to get shots from front, bottom, overhead, and back.

Great shot, though, isn't it!

I have noticed that if you do this project, you will be the first person to make a huge ship in halo. Also. good choice of ships, although it will be hard to see details, it will be a very original creation.

Got a friend who's doing another massive Halo project, and I'm betting it will be insanely cool, too. Can't say anymore, but you'll know it when you see it.
