Continue the sentence "Chima..." in this thread. Mine is:

...will be my favorite theme after Ninjago gets discontinued.

You can also discuss info about sets and minifigs and episodes. Good news, Ninjago won't end until 2014!

Yes, it's pretty hard to find the sets of Ninjago. I personally own 4 non-spinner sets, but they're among the cheapest from the year, which all retail at under or exactly US$40. I damaged all the vehicles because some had low playability (very fragile) and some could be built into stronger ones!

Does Amazon.com work there? Or the Lego shop? Because another wave of Ninjago sets are coming in 2013! (no spinners though)

The Temple of Light and exclusive minifigs are already popping up on eBay, which means they will officially release in January! However, it may be like this: Remember September 2012 when the Green Ninja came as a spinner? It popped up on eBay in mid-August and came to my country early!

Yes. I don't want to offend or disappoint anyone but it's actually just a LEGO theme with 2 'waves' of sets. There are also good things about that kind of themes! LEGO releases new parts, especially for minifigures, so you can use them in your MOCs!

I'll be getting the Speedorz game sets. Not the vehicles. I like themes that Lego makes.

Castle is cool! Now that Lego is coming out with them again (finally) I might pick up some!

With the Indiana Jones, I know! I wanted some.

I don't think Chima is that good as a story, but the parts look good. I like the various multi-part weapons. The anthropomorphised animals are not my kind of minifigs though. Also, the heavy use of gold is going to make the sets slightly more expensive (the colours do effect the price.).

Yeah, thats the gold driving the price up. There is a pearl gold component in (I think) every set, and that costs more for TLG to make, therefore it costs more for us to buy.

Look it up. It was probably the most awesome theme Lego came up with during the 2000's (2000 - 2010). While the original wave had only limited pieces to work with, it still turned out to be awesome.

Personally, the Speedorz game isn't as good as Spinjitzu. Spinjitzu has more strategy and the cards do things before, during, or after each spin.

The Speedorz game is more like this:
Someone creates a challenge. It can be anything like, knock over these four cones. For that kind of challenge, whoever knocks more cones kind of "wins." Then whoever "won" the challenge part picks the top card off of his or her deck and chooses what "power" to use. Whoever has the higher chosen power really "wins." So the cards don't do a whole lot with the game. The customization of the game is cool, but still. Spinjitzu wins for me!

It really was a great theme wasn't it? I particularly loved the transforming vehicles of the last product line. The whole theme focused less on looking good and wowing with amazing new parts, and more on being good, with high parts count sets and great playability functions. (I should probably see if I'm allowed to make a new thread for this.)

LEGOŽ has made many amazing themes over the years, and one of them is Legends of CHIMA. I mean, what can I say? Great new parts, interesting story line, and amazing vehicles. However, is it really THAT big of a deal that several video games, a road show, and TONS of promo material must be used on this theme? I am secretly worried that LEGOŽ might be heavily damaged if this theme fails. What do you think?

I am secretly worried that LEGOŽ might be heavily damaged if this theme fails. What do you think? Well I think if it does fail they could consider bringing back bionicle and expand on it because; 1. There is a lot more loose ends in the story line that never had a conclusion. 2. It was highly popular, and still is. 3. It was as far as I know their most popular theme. 4. It is the only theme that could possibly make up for the loss but also be extremely successful for at least a few more decades. 5. If they put that kind of attention into the new bionicles, it could only pay off. Now I know you're all probably thinking well of course he would say bringing back bionicle is the solution he's a bionicle mocist, but each of my reasons are valid and to be honest I think the people making the story line were just being lazy and/or had run out of ideas and that is why bionicle was ended both quickly and badly.

Anyone wanna debate how LEGO released Chima?

Here's my thoughts: they could have done better releasing the whole thing. There was so much "hype" about it, but the thing is, the TV series fits with the sets, so without the series, the sets won't sell.

I think a lot of LEGO fans are kinda bummed with all of the sets as well. If you want to collect vibrant colors, that's good, but at the same time, the minifigures aren't really useful other than Chima, which I find as a con.

That's just a small thing, anyone else wanna join in?

Yeah, I got one set that came with two Speedors, but the game isn't too great in my opinion. It's hard to use the minifigures elsewhere besides Chima. It's fun looking at the sets that come out and what MOCs people make with the theme.

I'll join! I don't mean to be a :J:3:R:K but the Chima sets are kinda s!IIy. I think that they should have spent the money elsewhere.

They could have used the money on the molds alone for other themes that could really benefit from new pieces. LotR, for example, could have gotten some new pieces such as: Anduril, Glamdring and many others.

Or instead of that, they could have created a theme that people have been wanting for years: Legend of Zelda.

With the money for the Chima Molds alone, they could have created an entire wave of Zelda sets. It's disappointing to me, how LEGO creates themes that don't even look appealing.

CHIMA's probably the best and worst thing that ever happened to Lego. Best because it introduced a TON of great new pieces, the storyline is great, and the vehicles look AWESOME. On the other hand, people don't seem to be accepting it well, and there's just too much promotion.

Chima looks to me like what would happen if a convention for people who like to dress in animal costumes and a convention for LARPers were held in the same place at the same time.

This is definitely true. Those pieces are pretty sweet. They look cooler than the HF in my opinion.

...is a theme intended for kids which is pretty much a w@steful amount of new parts that aren't needed and some weird set designs.

I don't like the show, I thought Ninjago was pretty bad, but this is many times worst! Though there are some cool new parts (not including the animal hat things)

I think the Minifigures from Chima are SO COOL.

Me, being a furry, I really like animal people. I am an animal person! I'm a kitty! :3

But the sets themselves aren't very interesting. The minifigures are great though!

I wish there was a cat girl or something.
The bird people look great, but I think the heads on the wolf/dog people are a bit big.

That's fine, I'm perfectly capable of creating animal people, as seen here: http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/354101

Chima looks like a horrible LEGO theme but it might introduce some useful bricks Ninjago was better.

They need to stop making so many pieces that will basically just be used in 1-2 sets...It seems like Chima's purpose is just to provide a bunch of useless specialized pieces...

Looking at the sets again I don't see as many new pieces as I thought. They actually look quite good and very detailed, as in beyond the level of detail that I'd expect for a set from a theme targeted at younger kids.

It's probably the colors that make it seem that way...

What do you think of the Gorilla Mech? I think it's pretty cool and has some unique futuristic-like cool pieces!

Am I really the one who started this thread without permission? I would lock this thread, but nah. Do I have a strike for this? It was before the "do not make new threads" rule existed.

Since it's the LOC thread, today I got the rare and special Lagravis(h) from the Royal Roost.

CHIMA was definitely a risky venture. It was unlike anything Lego had ever made before. However, Lego was quite sure of its success. From what I hear, CHIMA was supposed to be "The boy's toy of 2014"! Lego put a ton of money into it. A TV show, a Road Show, countless events, 4 video games, and much more! You can see how sure they were of themselves. Instead, it only sold as well as any action theme did. To add insult to injury, it was generally disliked and thought of as weird, childish and bizzare. What's the moral of the story? Thinking "outside the brick" is good, but you have to ease yourself out there. People have been so used to "normal" themes for so long, CHIMA was like getting a bucket of ice water poured over you! I think you see my point by now.
