Sorry the results are a little late! MOCpages hasn't been working for me the past couple of days, and of course new year was a little busy.
Due to low entries and what may appear to be a lack of interest... I'm not sure if I'll organise more contests this year. We've done by era, and by county - it's hard to think of other big categories we could find another six contests for. Though hopefully I'll have succeeded in the goal of bringing people together and active, sharing ideas and inspiration.
Anyway, not many entries here - so just five winners, no runners-up this time.
In third place we have Rick S.' Bugatti Veyron 16.4 (http://mocpages.com/moc.php/304028) - very well built, and strictly speaking german, not french... but I'll let it slide as we don't have many entries this time.
Coming up in second place is Malte Dorowski's Peugeot 908 HDi (http://mocpages.com/moc.php/229018) - very well built as always, with those signature smooth lines he somehow incorporates so well into all his cars.
And finally, first place is given to Nick Barrett's Citroën 2CV Charleston (http://mocpages.com/moc.php/287727) - a good model in many ways - very accurate to the real thing (easier to do when you own one!) and as impressive as all his large scale cars. Good work! All of you !
Quoting Nick Barrett
Thankyou Dan! I'm very happy with that; although it would have been nice to have more competition, the quality was good and I think you can call all your contests a great success.
Well, I may still do... but I'm having a hard time thinking up six more categories-within-a-category for another year's worth.
It might mean changing the contest name slightly, but the best I can come up with with is type of vehicle - either various types of car (coupé/saloon/convertible... are there really six main types?) or six types of vehicles, which may include motorbikes/scooters, three-wheelers, cars, trucks... also not to easy to find six big 'main' categories. I'm kind of stuck thinking up themes :s Permalink
Well done everyone :) sorry I couldnt compete, but good news, I have me Lego out again and my brick link order came the other day! Anyways, maybe you should split the contests into price ranges for something different, for example, for the remainder of the winter, there would be a price range from between £500-£5000 and people have to find a car in that price range and build it... Just an idea for something different, but I'm excited to compete in the next contest :) Permalink
Quoting Senator Chinchilla .
Coupe, saloon, hatchback, convertible, SUV, pickup, ute, crossover, van. Just to name a few. BTW congratz Nick! Love that 2cv...its a testament to what old school bricks can do.
That would be really cool the different category's. Could we make up a car, or would it be a real one? Permalink
Congrats Nick! Well, wouldn't be difficult to win, haha! I like LUGnuts' ideas for contest like the one that's going on: cars with names with ''space relations'' (Renault Espace, Saturn Sky etc.) Permalink
How about something like: cars for under 10,000: the competitor needs to find a car for under 10,000 (euro's, pounds, dollars, yens :D) any car he likes on the internet or new, with a link to the page he found :) Permalink
Well... as you all don't seem to want the contests to end, and are giving some good ideas for contest categories, I'll likely get another round started for this year - I'll have a little think to decide on what the categories will be and then I'll get the first one running. Obviously it'll start a little late, but on a two(-month timescale I doubt a week or two late will be the end of the world.
If any of you know people who would be interested in participating, let me know and I'll add them to the invite list. Always good to get some new faces in the competition :)
well i hope you do another contest, maybee contests like:
-who needs a roof?
-where's the car? all i see is the engine!
-Too tough for you! (muscle cars)
-tiny stable, lots of horses!
-Venomous! (named after a venomous animal, or venom itself!)
-build you own!
i know there is an extra, and the names could use some work. i really hope you do another contest! (and it goes better than this) Permalink
