For artistry's sake, would it be okay to put a 1x1 black border on my entry's base (making it 10x10)? I won't build on the border at all.

Well, the border wouldn't be overhang, but it's just there for looks. It serves no purpose to the entries subject matter.

No 8x8, with an added 1x1 black border equaling 10x10 total. My point (above) was simply that a border is not overhang, it's part of the base, so is that still okay?

Example: It would look like one of Magma's 31 vignettes, but a little smaller.

I would think that would be fine Ian, it is not technically 'overhang' but he said that 10x10 is what overhang make it, and since you are not actually building on it you should be fine (unless Tim later says otherwise)

I don't mean to stir up trouble here, but wouldn't it be better to judge more on "pose" than build? After all, it is a Flexible Figs (not an 8x8 build) contest. As a competitor, I thought the focus was on the Figs, so I didn't pay much heed to the build. Just my two cents on the subject.

Who are the judges?

It would help if you had a larger scale for the judging. /5 for the originality, /5 for the creativity, /5 for the pose, and /5 for over all build. The total points could then be rounded to /10. This scale makes it easer and more fair for the judges and contestants.

Thanks for the contest; pose-able minifigs are fun to make and I get a lot of inspiration when forced to build within an 8x8 limit.
