Does anyone have some sets on your Christmas list?

I'm debating weather I want the modular buildings...which have over 2000 pieces at 150 dollars, or the Ewok village that costs 250 dollars, and barely has 2000 pieces:I
Either way, I hoping all get some LOTR stuff too!

Series 4 of the Planet Sets
That one with Cad Bane and Obi-Wan disguised as Rako Hardeen
The Mandalorian Speeder with CW Maul
The Corporate Alliance Tank Droid with Jango Fett
And the Ewok Village. Most Likely, I'll just be getting the planet sets as gifts if I don't get them first, and I'll have to pay for the other stuff.

I EXTREMELY want the Ewok Village. When I went to the Lego store, they had the set on display and I just wanted it soooo bad. It is so detailed and well-designed. But I just can't afford $250. That's a ridiculous price.

IKR! I hate it that Lego is making it's newest sets so expensive!

I can understand the increase in price to an extent. If you see the number of new molds there has been recently, and also all of the printing, and certain ways of printing there are, there are expenses that have to be paid. Now they are a bit overpriced, but then there are also liscense fees to be paid. I can understand an extra few dollars on liscenced sets.

But back to the mold designs which are the biggest factor. In the past 3 years, there have been so many new molds that in many cases are only used once. All of the hair pieces for POTC, and Lone Ranger, all of the Dwarf beards and hair pieces from The Hobbit, helmet designs and Salacious Crumb from Star Wars, all of the things from Chima, and not to mention the collectible minifigs. These things are extremely detailed and way more insane than what you would have gotten 10 years ago.

There is then also the printing on all of these things. Doublesided heads and torsos, head printing under a Chima head with even more printing on top, printing all over parts like General Grievous' and Ewok heads, printing on legs on all the clones, and the Chima sets, and then the toes on all of the characters from just that theme. While ink doesn't cost much, because these things are so intricate, and then getting all the machines to be configured to print all of these designs, these things have to be paid for. It's one of the many things that enhances, and also detracts the LEGO-ness of LEGO sets. The minifigs are amazing, but then they don't look like LEGO sets used to. A werewolf used to just be a molded head, now it's a head with printing and a head on top of that with more printing. It looks weird. It's cool that we can do it now, but what's being done feels like overkill to me. But because of these things, prices must go up.

Good point! Yes, Lego has made it's products quite complex...
