Round 6

First, I'd like to take a second to thank Mark Kelso and Moodswim for jumping in and helping out with the judging issues. I still haven't heard back from Cody so hopefully all is well on his end. If judges need to be shuffled later then we can take care of it as we get there... in the mean time:

Welcome to the "Final Four" and round six of the 2012 MocOlympics! Below you will find your matchups with your opponent and your category.

For making it this far, each of you is going to recieve a prize! I will need each of your addresses. Please email me your shipping address at

mocieawards@gmail.com
If you are under 18, HAVE YOUR PARENTS EMAIL ME. I'm still working on which prize is which so please be patient with that. In the mean time, congratulations!

On to the "boring stuff" of the rules...

ONLY ONE MOC PER ENTRY unless it's needed for the category (say, for a story category or something along those lines). This rule is from now on (and will continue into the other games we host like the MocAthalon). From now on, only one moc per entry. Thank you.

Dates and Times:
Round six starts NOW and will end at 11:59 pm, MOCpages time Wednesday, December 5th. No entries will be accepted after this time. If you do not have your entry posted AND added to the group by the deadline, you will forfeit your match and your opponent will advance.

Title:
Your entry must be titled: MocOlympics (may be shortened to MO) round 6 "you" vs "Your opponent." You may title it anything you wish after that but that must be the opening of the title.

Category description:
Near the TOP of the entry you must state what category you are playing in. Feel free to simply copy and paste your category from this thread or type in the title of the category, your choice.

Links:
Preferably near the top of your post, you MUST have a WORKING link to your opponent’s page. If you post first then linking to their homepage is fine. If you post second, please link to their entry. You do not HAVE to change the link to their entry after they post (if you post first) but you are welcome to change it after they post if you'd like. This is the ONLY change that may be made after adding an entry to the group. You do NOT have to have a working link back to the main MocOlympics group. You’re free to add it if you wish but it is NOT required.

You must add your entry to the group pool. Once you add it to the group, that's it, it's OURS and NO changes may be made. If you make a change and we find out about it, you will be disqualified and your opponent will advance to the next round. We STRONGLY suggest that you get feedback from others and make any needed changes BEFORE adding it to the group. The judges will NOT look at it until it's added to the group.

Once you and your opponent have posted and added your entries to the group, the judges will vote on the mocs.

There will be SIX judges for each matchup. You must receive 4 out of 6 votes to advance to the next round. In the event of a tie, a 7th judge will be brought in to break the tie. The judges are NOT required to write full, detailed comments with their votes (but may if they choose to). The only thing required by a judge is which moc he’s voting for. Each judge’s decision is final.

Your judges are:
Chris Phipson, Paul Vermeesch, Sebeus I.,
Shannon Ocean, Chris Roach and Cody G.

And now, your categories and matchups for the Final Four and round 6!

Tom Remy VS Stuart Delahay:
Storm of the Century: Build us a moc showing nature at her worst! Is it a hurricane, a blizzard, a tornado? Any natural disaster you wish. It MUST be an actual type of disaster. No “acid rain” melting the buildings or anything like that (that was a different category).

George G VS Heath Flor:
Place of Worship: Choose a place where people conduct religious ceremonies. Now, we’re not looking for typical ideas here, think ancient druids, Mayans, Ancient Greece/Roman, Buddhist temples, Angkor Wat and things like that. Choose any kind of religion you want from any time period, it’s up to you! If you’d like to build a modern Christian church then by all means do it, just make sure that if you pick something “normal” that the build is good enough to beat your opponent. Good luck!

And that's it, good luck to the final four!

Splendid! The category is not explicit in the detail so, single build only for the storm category?

Good luck to Tom, George and Heath!

LOL no worries George, that one took me a year. :P

Chris....can we make a place of worship for a fictional religion? I'm just asking for clarification purposes, as I have a few ideas and one of them is made-up. Thanks!

Just kiddin' :)
Chris, I have a question. Does that natural disaster have to be related to meteorology? I mean it's "storm" of the century, "tornado", "hurricane"... But could it be something else, as long as it's natural? And good luck to George, Heath and Stuart!

Yeah, what about earthquakes, sun flares or Chris Phipson? Wait, what?

I was about to ask a very similar question actually :)

And just to add Chris, could we create a fictional place of worship from a book or film? I may or may not use this idea, I have so many ideas running through my head!

Round two starts NOW...

This is like Groundhog Day. The last 5 rounds have all started with the text "round TWO starts now". Perhaps the category for the final is going to be "build a lego time machine that Phipson can use to go Back To The Future!"

:D

As long as the "religion" you choose is an already established "fictional religion" (something like the Jedi Temple would work) then yes, that's fine.

On a personal note, I would "prefer" a real, earthbound religion, but won't dock someone for using an established fictional one as long as you have documentation to back it up.

If you're talking about things like Earthquakes or avalanches then yes, those would be fine. A natural disaster is what we're looking for. Just don't try to use like the stock market crashing or something like that. We're looking for Mother Nature opening a big 'ol can of whoop(bleep) on us here.

Congratulations to you all for making it to the "Final Four". That's one amazing achievement and you all should be extremely proud of yourselves. Well done for making it this far and good luck to you all. May the best builder win! :)

Good luck you four! It seems Heath and Tom have already worthily proven their salt in said categories. I got a good chuckle out of those links, lovely builds guys. But of course George and Stu are masters of their art. This will be a fun one to watch.

That's OK Tom, that's what i get for three years of comedy routines, being in a LUG with him, etc. ;)

Still, question is not a problem now - i've settled on a single build in the spirit of the rule introduced a couple of rounds back and as your question wasn't answered by that point, i've started with a 'weather' natural disaster rather than a 'geological' one.

I'm going to lose at least three nights because of a business trip that I organised for AFTER the round was supposed to be finished and I can't now easily change, so I just wanted to get on with building. To the bricks!

Don't worry, I lose two nights per week for the same reason. This week is no exception, so we have the same amount of time! Happy building!

Thanks for the response Chris. Not sure which route I'll go, but the clarification helps.
