I'll mail you a cheese platter using a number of paper envelopes to send you unsealed packets of cheese. Want them?

Just for clarification, we don't HAVE to build something from "AVP", we can build something from just "Alien" or just "Predator" (or any of the millions of sequels and prequels)?

Correct. If you wanted to build say... the waterfall scene from the first Predator, that would be fine. It's stated "universe" because the two mythologies cross over. So feel free to choose anything from either or both.

So for my category, (a certain point of view) I AM allowed to build several MOCs to tell the story, right? Sorry if the answer is obvious, I just want to make sure.

Thanks!

Oh, and I love cheese platters.

Yes, you are.

The "One moc rule" applies to categories that are for a specific item to be built. Such as A mosaic or A real life object or something along those lines.

Telling a story, by it's very nature, (most of the time) will require different scenes to tell your story in, thus... multiple mocs are allowed for that.

I know the use of non-LEGO items aren't in our creations, but where do you stand with non-LEGO lights inside our MOCs? I will be using real LEGO lights as well, and don't worry if the answer is a no :)

You may use whatever kind of lighting you wish to use. If you want to slap a "taplight" inside a build or use a candle... either way, I'm good with that.

Hi Chris! I think my entry will deserve a "parental guidance"... I won't post before tomorrow night, but could you tell me as soon as you see it if it's worth the parental guidance? I don't really know where the line is. And if not, will I be able to edit the page just to remove it? Thanks in advance --Tom--

Is it allowed to make additional shots of the Mechas in front of a neutral white background?
And could we change the pose?

Yes, if you'd like to take seperate shots of the mech, the background or whatever then that's fine. The more detail the better I say.

The PG rating is used mostly for EXTREMELY graphic violence, nudity and swearing. If it doesn't have any of those then you're good. But I'll of course be looking at it.

Since I can set any moc to a PG setting if it's needed, I'll simply make the change for you if it does needs it. If it doesn't, I'll leave it as is.

Looking forward to it!

I know I'm not a judge nor an admin, but you are me about a year ago. (Well, I didn't ask because I knew it was too late :( ) The next one will start around when this one started - only next year. I think around January or February they have the Mocathlon, but I've yet to enter it. :D As for signing up, it is too late for that this year, but Chris will have a link to the group on his homepage when the sign-ups are open. :D Hope this was satisfactory! Well, first what you do is get yourself a time machine, travel back to when Round 1 was for free game, then you await the results on wether or not you make it to Round 2 or the MITs, and then you continue competing in either elimination competition. If you are just too lazy to do that, you wait around until September of 2013 and get your chance to compete then, that is, if you don't believe the world is going to end this December.

Also, the next round is not starting until all the judges have casted their votes which could take awhile and it will be a round in which you are still not participating in because you have failed to obtain the time machine I mentioned earlier.

The way you sign up is if you take a route of one of the two scenarios I just gave you and in the very beginning of the group, you will find a thread with a title and topic of people signing up, most typically under the title of "Sign Ups."

The most important information you should get out of this is what I am about to tell you. Go and find yourself a that machine Dr. Who uses that would cause my comment to go into moderation, a phone booth from 600 years in the future given to you by a guy named Roofus, find a doctor that has a flux capacitor attached to a DeLorean, get yourself a spaceship and fly into a black hole that spits you out into another time period like Spock, or just wait ever so patiently and unlock the vault that holds your sense of commonness.

I sure hope this helped. :)

part did, other part didn't. the one with the name that would cause the comment to dissappear is hard to obtain, and I would not have expected a guy I didn't meet here yet to answer that annoying of a question. I hope... wait, talking abaut the FFC is not really the point of this forum. NVM.

I think that may be me! Correct me if I'm wrong, but as far as I know, all other under-15s were eliminated in round three. I made it to round four, and then to round five by default. I am fourteen.

Sounds good! Ok, have a parent email me with an address of where they would like the prize sent (some parent's prefer work addresses, but whatever they wish) and we'll get it out to you when all the other prizes are sent out (after the games are over).

Thank you very much! My dad has sent you an email with the address :) Thanks so much for running the MOColympics Chris, it's been a whole lot of fun! You and the rest of the judges are exceedingly generous to give up so much of your time and effort for the MOCpages community to enjoy an awesome contest every year. You guys are what make MOCpages great and unique among other sites. On other sites, the moderators are big wigs, they aren't so involved with the users, but over here, you can joke along with MOCpages' members and such - it's the whole MOCpages spirit. Thanks a ton guys, and especially you Chris, for all the hard work you do.

I wanted to ask for a future rule clarification on something that I noticed after the semi-final and has been playing on my mind if Iím honest.

In the comments on his R6 entry, Tom thanks his partner Marie for ďalso building dozens of cars and windows... I realize I really enjoy microscale, but when you're a beginner, it's very time-consuming.Ē

Now I honestly believe Tom didnít think anything was wrong in this, nor am I suggesting that he was trying to gain an advantage, but he would have got one no matter how small, especially considering we both had time issues and both said that we cut back on the content of our builds because of that.

I am not protesting Tomís victory or trying to add any drama (thereís been quite enough of that thank you!) and Iím really trying to not come across as a bad loser, but I thought it was understood that you build your own entry without physical help (My Own Creation)? After the Bing-Bong brothers entered together a couple of years ago it was deemed to be individual entries only thereafter. I assumed it was common sense that this also applied to any assistance in building, but as with the existing rule of only new creations and the new rule regarding only one MOC per entry, I think it needs stating clearly in future that all entries should be only your own work. I know itís impossible to police Ė entrants will be on trust Ė but by the current set of rules I could have asked my wife to finish off part of my MOC while I worked on another part that could have potentially changed the outcome of the match. Instead I left that part out.

Again, this is not sour grapes or whining, although inevitably some will think so. I accepted Tomís victory, congratulated him and didnít start shouting or moaning about this, but I do feel it needs addressing for the future.

Thank you Stu. And I can personally attest to the fact that you are NOT trying to stir up anything based on conversations with you in the past and knowing what kind of person you are.

Rest assured that this will be addressed and specifically stated in furture games and thank you for bringing the oversight to my attention.

The only way things will improve for everyone is if someone brings up the issues that arise.

Hi Stu, Chris, Heath and everyone interested! I've been very busy with work, sickness and Christmas gifts - and of course my final entry! - but I wanted to answer this before the final deadline. All I'm saying here is sincere, but you'll have to trust me on that ;)
"In the comments on his R6 entry, Tom thanks his partner Marie..." First, I intended to state this in my MOC's commentary but forgot since it was 5:30 AM... I realize that the fact I added this after the judges vote could be interpreted as a way to cheat... It wasn't, I was just exhausted. "Now I honestly believe Tom didnít think anything was wrong in this, nor am I suggesting that he was trying to gain an advantage, but he would have got one no matter how small, especially considering we both had time issues and both said that we cut back on the content of our builds because of that." I'm glad to hear that, because it's the truth. I honestly didn't think it would be an advantage, as she spent about fifteen minutes piling up 1x1 plates (following my madly precise instructions), while I cooked (I'm a better cook than her :P). But I now fully understand that it's an advantage, no matter how small. It won't happen again, and I wasn't aware of this rule though it makes sense when you point it out. I didn't follow the MO back when the B-B Bros played. I saw the creations, but didn't read the conversations... "I am not protesting Tomís victory or trying to add any drama" Me neither! Me neither! "Again, this is not sour grapes or whining, although inevitably some will think so." Not me. I just care about two things : 1) That you don't feel bitter about this matchup. I like your builds, but I also appreciate your humour and spirit. This is just a game and I'd rather lose it than lose your respect. 2) That the "audience" don't think I cheated. Marie wanted to participate and as I said it was more of a "symbolic" help... Without her, I just would have posted my entry at 5:45. Now thanks again to everyone who organize, judge, build and watch this competition, it's awesome! See you very soon! @Heath: how's it going mate? Can't wait to see your build! --Tom--

Oops, didn't realize there was activity here! I think everything was well stated by Stu, Chris, and Tom. I don't want to speak for Stu (though I'm sure he's not upset about it), but as far as I'm concerned it seems to be a small misunderstanding that everyone involved has cleared up in a very adult manner.

As for me, I'm terribly busy just as you Tom. I've had residual sinus problems for 3 weeks now due to a cold my kids gave me. :( I have 4 brats, and we've been really busy getting into the Christmas spirit! We took a train ride one night, put up the Christmas tree, saw Santa, hosted the family Christmas party yesterday, trying to wrap all the presents, etc, etc.

My build hasn't been going all that great, and I fear I may have strayed too far from the category. I'm currently wrapping it up, but it's going to be an all day thing just to get it ready for posting.

This will be my last MOC Olympics for quite some time -- in fact I may never enter again. The reason being that it has interfered too much with my free time with my family during the holiday season. We've been going at this for THREE MONTHS!!!! LOL This is truly a single man's game. :P

No matter what happens...I wish you the best Tom, and can't wait to see your build!
