Welcome one and all to the fifth annual MocOlympics!
First, DO NOT make any new threads please! This group will be getting messy enough without extra threads floating around. ONLY admins can make new threads.
For those that have played before, welcome back! For those of you who are new to the games here's a brief rundown of how things work.
First, sign up: Go to the sign up thread and simply copy and paste a link to your homepage as your comment. This will let us know that you are signing up and are ready to throw down. Please no conversation in the sign up thread (it will be deleted). You MUST have a MOCpages account to play.
Rounds: The MocOlympics are a single elimination tournament where players are pitted against one another in different categories. Round one will be what we refer to as the "free for all" round. In this round you will be able to choose a category from the ones we have provided and build your entry for that category (categories will be posted on the first day of round 1). ALL entries MUST be NEW and UNIQUE creations! NO using old mocs. EVERYTHING must be built NEW for each round. The ONLY expection to this is Figs. Your entries will be judged on a 10 point system. ONLY the top 64 players (possibly 128 if we have enough players) will go on to round two. Round two will begin the one on one matches. During the one on one matches, the judges will vote on which player will advance. For the first few rounds there will be three judges per bracket (meaning you need to score 2 out of 3 votes to advance) and for the later rounds there will be six judges per match (you will then need 4 out of 6 votes to advance). We will continue the elimination process until we have a single MocOlympics Grand Champion!
Dates: As of right now, we will begin round one on Sunday, September 9th. Round one will last for 10 (ten) days. After those ten days are up the judges will tally the scores and place the top 64 (128) players in matches for round two. Round two will start the Sunday after the end of the round (September 23rd) (announcements will be made to avoid confusion).
Judges: Your judges for the games are Chris Phipson, Cody G., Sebeus I., Chris Roach, Shannon Ocean and Paul Vermeesch. During the later rounds, if a tie breaker judge is needed, it will be Mark Kelso.
Yes there WILL be prizes for the winners. Prizes will be awarded to the top 4 players PLUS the TFOL/YFOL (age 14 and under) who survives the longest (unless said T/YFOL is one of the top 4 then the prize goes to the next younger builder in line). If there is a tie for the longest surviving T/YFOL, a tie breaker match will be held to determine who the prize is awarded to.
LDD: While LDD is a great tool for design it will not be allowed in this contest. This contest is for real LEGO only. LDD creations will not be accepted as entries. Please feel free of course to use LDD as a design tool to help you in the creative process but your entry must be physically built in REAL brick.
Photoshop: You may use photoshop and other types of applications for BASIC clean up work on your pics. Using photoshop to enhance your build is not allowed. This is a building contest, not a computer graphics contest.
Brickarms: This is NOT a purist contest so feel free to use Brickarms, Brickforge, custom stickers or whatever other aftermarket pieces you wish.
If I’ve missed anything or you are confused about something… first, REREAD everything above. If your question is still not answered, there is a “questions” thread where your question can be addressed.
All that's left is for you to tell your friends and to get you and them on over and sign up! Good luck to everyone and let the games begin! Permalink
