He has a point I think, probably not the best Idea to discuss it openly while the games are still going on but It cannot be ignored IMO.

I replied to it and he's right. It was something that was bugging me since last year's games and rest assured for next year, we'll make sure that it's stated that only ONE "moc" per entry is allowed.

I'll have to figure out how to word it to avoid confusion of course, but I never liked it when people would put in 3 or 4 entries for a single category. But like Ian said, as it stands, it's completely legit... for now.

Next year this'll be changed. Heck, maybe Ian would make a good judge next year? I've met him at BW and he's a good, upstanding kid... yeah... maybe we'll go that way.

Tossing my two cents in…

I've been talking to Ian personally and extensively about this issue, and though he's a bit sore at losing, his point is very valid. It's a cheap way to play if you only win on quantity, not quality. That said, different categories may have different contexts in which multiple entries could be allowed, so it may have to be treated on a case-by-case basis next year.

By the way, Ian would make a great judge next year. Just sayin'.

Actually, in reviewing the category, it says that, "Mosaics: We’re going to leave this one open a bit. We want you to “paint” an ORIGINAL piece of art using Lego. 2D only please."

AN ORIGINAL PIECE OF ART states pretty clearly that only one piece of art can be built for this entry. There's a whole debate about the ethics of posting multiple builds, but we should be focused on the legality. In my opinion, Heath broke the rules, and should either be disqualified or the voting should be re-evaluated.

Of course, I defer to you guys if you agree that the entry was indeed valid. Just throwing in my two cents.

I see your point and how it could be applied to this however... here's the issue...

Up until this point in the games, there have been many people who have posted more than one moc for an entry and it was never specifically stated in the rules that this was a "no no."

Again, we all agree that the wording is the issue and that will be changed for the next games (mocathalon) and next year's olympics.

What you're talking about here is really stretching to find a way to make Heath the bad guy (not that that's what you're trying to do, you're simply looking at the issue from all angles, as it should be).

As it stands, for today and this particular incident, Heath didn't do anything against the rules and the judges rules stand.

The only question that remains is should we address it for the next round (now) and add it to the rules, or should we allow it to stay this way through the rest of the games?

I see what you're saying. If we've let multiple MOCs slide in past categories where something to the order of "one MOC in the post" was implied in the category, then we should not ding Heath for this one either. But, if that's the case, then we should probably not alter the rules mid-game if it has happened more than once already in the tournament. That said, we probably shouldn't make it seem like entering multiple MOCs is a-ok from here on out, otherwise we might have to go through this fiasco all over again. I say we let Heath advance, leave all discussion about multi-MOCing behind us, and we'll just keep the rule in mind for next year. Hopefully we just won't have this sort of incident for the rest of the games this year.
