FINALIZED:

Welcome to round three of the 2012 MocOlympics! Below you will find your matchups with your opponent and your category.

Dates and Times:
Round two starts NOW and will end at 11:59 pm, MOCpages time Sunday, October 21st. No entries will be accepted after this time. If you do not have your entry posted AND added to the group by the deadline, you will forfeit your match and your opponent will advance.

Title:
Your entry must be titled: MocOlympics (may be shortened to MO) round 3 "you" vs "Your opponent." You may title it anything you wish after that but that must be the opening of the title.

Category description:
Near the TOP of the entry you must state what category you are playing in. Feel free to simply copy and paste your category from this thread or type in the title of the category, your choice.

Links:
Preferably near the top of your post, you MUST have a WORKING link to your opponent’s page. If you post first then linking to their homepage is fine. If you post second, please link to their entry. You do not HAVE to change the link to their entry after they post (if you post first) but you are welcome to change it after they post if you'd like. This is the ONLY change that may be made after adding an entry to the group. You do NOT have to have a working link back to the main MocOlympics group. You’re free to add it if you wish but it is NOT required.

You must add your entry to the group pool. Once you add it to the group, that's it, it's OURS and NO changes may be made. If you make a change and we find out about it, you will be disqualified and your opponent will advance to the next round. We STRONGLY suggest that you get feedback from others and make any needed changes BEFORE adding it to the group. The judges will NOT look at it until it's added to the group.

Once you and your opponent have posted and added your entries to the group, the judges will vote on the mocs. There will be three judges for each matchup (divided by the brackets). You must receive 2 out of 3 votes to advance to the next round. The judges are NOT required to write full, detailed comments with their votes (but may if they choose to). The only thing required by a judge is which moc he’s voting for. Each judge’s decision is final.

Your judges are:
Brackets One and Two: Chris Phipson, Paul Vermeesch and Sebeus I.

Brackets Three and Four: Shannon Ocean, Chris Roach and Cody G.

Without further ado… welcome to round 3 and good luck!

Bracket 1

Stormbringer vs Paul Romano
The future is now!: The year is 2100 and the future is here! What would a typical day be like? Show us a normal, everyday city scene from the distant future complete with flying cars and robots walking designer morph slugs or whatever happens to be going on in your future world. The size we’re looking for here is about one city block in minifig scale.

Brick Savage vs LWC Guy
LucasFilm LTD.: So everyone knows George Lucas for the Star Wars movies but he’s done so much more! Choose ANY movie that Lucas was involved in (director, writer, producer, whatever) ASIDE from Star Wars stuff, and build a scene from one of those films. Anything from Indiana Jones to Willow… heck, even THX-1138 or American Graffiti! The choice is yours!

The Invisible Mime vs Giovanni S.
Men in Tights: Superheroes are all the rage this year and Lego has joined in the fun. Give us your version of a superhero(s) locked in mortal combat with the villian of your choosing. If you do not have Lego "hero figs" feel free to use your own but do try to make it "established" super heroes. Also give us a battle ground for your hero to... well... do battle in.

Lego Obsessionist vs Tom Remy
Illusionist: Build an optical illusion in Lego form. For inspiration of what kind of thing we're talking about, check out Legohaulic's awesome work here. (DO NOT COPY THIS, only for inspirational purposes
and to show you the kind of thing we're looking for.)

Bracket 2

Leda Kat vs Mark Erickson
Fantasy Vacation: Ok, so where have you always dreamed of going? Now, we’re not talking Disney World here, I mean something like spending a week on the bottom of the Ocean, climbing a mountain on Mars, travelling back in time to have lunch with some Velociraptors. The only limit on your fantasy getaway is your own imagination… where would you go?

Max Pointer vs Rinse Jan
80s sitcoms: Family ties, ALF, Growing pains, which is your favorite sitcom from the 80’s? Give us a dio or short story (your choice) using an 80’s sitcom as your inspiration.

Mike Johnson vs David Alexander Smith
Spy vs Spy: Using the black and white spies of Mad magazine fame, build us your version of one of their episodes/misadventures.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spy_vs_spy

Gabe Umland vs Stuart Delahay
Gritty Reboot: Choose a movie or TV show from years gone that should NEVER have a gritty reboot done of it (something like the Brady Bunch or Care Bears) and give it one!

Bracket 3

Nick Barret vs Lando L. Jackson
Sculpture: Leonardo did the Venus De Milo, Auguste Rodin gave us The Thinker. What will you give us? Produce a sculpture worthy of The Louvre. Choose a famous statue and show us your brick built version. Please provide a link to the original so we can compare.

George G. vs P. Voranc
Macroscale forced perspective: A forced perspective category but with a little twist. Build a forced perspective scene where the foreground is larger than minifig scale. The background may be any size you want(including minifig scale if you wish).

Stuart Lucas vs Tyler Halliwell

Board Game: Build a real boardgame (monopoly, connect 4, Sorry and so on) out of Lego. Please provide a link to something showing the original game (wikipedia works well for reference here but don't feel like you HAVE to use it). You will be judged on accuracy and difficulty level. Anyone can build a chess board with a bunch of squares but to build "Mousetrap" or a working version of "Operation," ...now that would be tough.

Sir Blamorgineas vs Nick V.
It's a Trap!: Ok, so your adventurer is deep within the catacombs or wherever his adventure has led him and then BAM, the trap is sprung. Give us a dio showing your adventure hero being killed by (or narrowly escaping, your choice) a trap set by those who did not wish their treasure disturbed. (Note: This does NOT have to be an "Indiana Jones" kind of thing. Adventurers looked for treasure in EVERY time period of history... and fiction.)

Bracket 4

Thoy Bradley vs Adam L.
Black and White: Build a scene using black, white and shades of grey (No, not all 50 of them) to give us an "old movie" feel. Seriously, no "colors" in this one. Feel free to use old movies and TV shows as inspiration (and copy if you'd like) but the idea here is to have the picture LOOK LIKE it was taken in black and white.

Legopard vs Riccardo Zangelm
Disney Princess: Oh yeah, I went there... I just LOVE the idea of guys who are used to building space ships and other war oriented stuff having to build girly princess stuff. So, pick a Disney Princess (yes, an official Disney Princess with a movie about her) and build a scene from one of her movies. Feel free to hate me now and good luck!

Raphael Heusser vs Heath Flor
Rube Goldberg: Rube Goldberg machines are impossibly complex machines that perform exceedingly simple tasks. Build us your version of a Rube Goldberg machine and show us how it works. You do not HAVE to have a video of the machine working (but it would REALLY help) and NO deductions will be made if you don't have one. If you don't (which is TOTALLY fine), then we suggest step by step pictures of your machine at each phase of movement. And this part kinda goes without saying but... the machine MUST work.

Ian Spacek vs LukeClarenceVan The Revanchist
Star Wars vs. Star Trek: Which universe would win in a knock down, drag out war? Show us your version of a battle between the two Sci-Fi giants! Is it the Enterprise destroying a Star Destroyer? Or maybe some Storm Troopers mowing down a bunch of Red Shirts? Construct the ultimate face-off!

Hey guys,

Reading through this with scrutiny this time, I noticed that Tyler Halliwell had what amounts to the same category twice in a row. Round 2 was "X marks the spot" and this round would have been "It's a trap." Basically two categories in a row of an adventurer going after treasure.

I switched the category with the one below it (the game one) so that it wouldn't be two builds in the same type of category back to back...

I'll go through again and make sure this hasn't happened to anyone else as well. Gotta always be fair across the board.

Yes, especially since he can't re-use his entry from last round! Good catch, Chris.

Ok, the rest of them are good. I'll post this later today unless anyone has any objections or finds something that needs fixing.
