Hey boys and girls,
Welcome to the ballad of Phipson...
Our story begins WAAAAY back in 1995. I was still on tour with Disney on Ice and we were in Europe... somewhere. I don't remember exactly where but I want to say it was maybe Switzerland? Anyway, the town isn't important, what is is that I was in a department store and found myself in the toy aisle. There was the Lego section (dun dun duuuun). I was looking for a way to help curb some of the boredom that being on tour can sometimes bring so I thought, what the heck, I'll get a Lego set.
I don't remember the set number but it was a smaller blacktron set of a robot with wheels for legs. There's two of those, ones big and ones small, I had the smaller one. That was the first "set" that I got as an adult... I was about 20 at the time. Over the next year or so, I picked up a few other sets for traveling with including a castle. I couldn't get much more because they wouldn't fit in my suitcase but these few (5 or 6 total) sets kept me from going stir crazy over the next year or so on the road...
Flash forward about... 4 years. I'm no longer with Disney and am living in Chicago with my wife. Right about this time Lego begins releasing Star Wars sets and... being an overgrown manchild in love with everything Star Wars, I start collecting the sets. I would build them and put them on display on the shelf... only to be gazed upon as I eagerly await the next release in the line.
During this time, my loving wife would get me a few sets as well including some of the witch castle sets and Universal's Monster sets and so on. And there they sat on my shelf for the next 9 years...
Again, time jump with me to early 2008. I'm looking around the net for Star Wars stuff and as luck would have it, thanks to Mark Kelso's Invisible Hand, I came upon MOCpages. Being an avid Star Wars fan and now having an almost complete set of the Lego Star Wars line, I was drawn in hook, line and sinker!
Inspired by builders like Mark Kelso, Dan Jassim, Emperor Ludgonious and so on, I began my moccing career. My Lego obsession has been well documented since then and now... here we are... 2012 and I'm still on MOCpages and loving every minute of it!
