Hey did anyone go to brickworld today?? Well I did and it was awesome!! I saw some mocs in real life that I had seen in person before I went. If you never have gone before it's a blast.

We have two judges and seven participants at the moment. We need at least ten more participants and one more judge. Remember, you don't have to be an alternative master to compete!

I'm most likely not going to participate, but if you want, I could be a judge. Be aware though that I'm not going to be easy with everyone; you really have to earn a good score.

I'd actually prefer if the hard graders judge; then the scores will be more varied. You would be great as a judge.

Now we have 15 participants and 2 judges. Oh, and Nathanael, please join the judging group.
The contest will begin on Thursday, June 21. Time: when the MOTD changes :)

No. The purpose of the contest is to post new MOCs. And good luck.

We have enough members now (though more is still welcome). We need one more judge though. And all judges must proceed to the judging group.

Can we use custom minifigs and brickarms

No, as these parts do not come in the set.
That reminds me, no modifying the parts in the set. The only modifications allowed are the stickers as applied in the set.

We have all three judges and 32 members! The challenge begins in 12 hours! And remember, it's not too late to join. In fact, you can join in the middle of the contest.
The contest will end on July 20th.

Welcome Thomas,
The limit is now 400 parts.
You can easily fix that using brickset or official LEGO notice download to list the exact part list. Creators set are not about using special or meta pieces.

can we use an existing model or does it need to be a new build.

It must be a new alt.

Congratulations to Gabor Horvath for being the first to submit an entry! For that you win...nothing.

I entered this, but its probably a cheat because I stole a couple of bits from other kits. Under 400 parts though.

Yes, that creation is not allowed in this contest.
This contest is ONLY for creations made using the parts of one set. For examples, see the creation already submitted in this group. It uses only parts from one set (though with two incorrect colors.) Nathanael's creations are also normally alternatives which are incredible examples (lucky for you, he's just a judge).

A few points I forgot to mention:
All sets include a few small spare parts. These may be used, as long as you make sure that they are the ones listed as spares on peeron.com

When building and after completion, check to make sure that no extra parts were used. Any incorrect colors of parts in the set are (-1) (maximum of ne point taken off). Any extra parts are (-2) if they can be exchanged for parts in the set, and disqualification for those that cannot.

Remember to triple check the parts list before posting as the judges (Stephane Ankh, Nathanael Kuipers, and I) will be building or checking the three winners to ensure that our scores were accurate and that they follow the rules.

And last but not least, have fun!

A few more ways to lose points: (-1) for uncreative name (such as 1234 alternative). (-1) for lack of description (such as in most of my earlier alternatives).

I really do not know why you ask me to be a judge and a day after I join, you remove me for violating rules. I am not aware of doing anything wrong but it really does not matter.
Have fun and next time please waste somebody else's energy.

Oh, sorry about that. I was looking for a new judge, and when Stephane joined, I forgot to remove the invites.
I didn't realize that you had joined until a while later, when we had enough judges. Not sure why it says you were violating rules, I just removed you because we had enough members.
Sorry about that.

That depends on whether that one has been judged by anyone yet. If it is disqualified, or was an accidental addition, or if it has not been judged by anyone, than yes. This is a good point though, removing creations that have been judged is not okay, as this could be a way to remove your lowest entry and have a better chance of winning.
I don't think you need to worry about this as your alts are always quite high quality,

I'm suprised there are so few entries so far, when so many people have joined the group!

The contest did end as soon as the twentieth began, so I am sorry, but I can not allow any more entries. I would like to allow yours, but if I did, others would want me to accept their entries to. So sorry, but no.

You cannot add it to the group, but when you post it, I'll take a look at it and tell you what score you would have gotten.

Why?

Recently, I've been judging a lot of contests (2 in a row) and it really takes a lot of time. Not to mention the complaints I'm getting in the contest I'm currently judging...
