Final round!

Finaly the final round is here!

In this round we'll have a free-for-all between the three finalist, of wich only one can be the winner! The finalists are:

Gringat X Nick X Monarth (again you dawg?)

For this round, the theme is fairly simple: What's the best thing any player can build?

That's easy: his best creation. And that's exactly your task.
You will have a month to produce what is YOUR BEST BIOMOC to date (The name of this round's theme is indeed "Your best BioMOC").

We will then judge the entries in different aspects on a 1-5 basis:

1 - WOW factor(visual impact, first impression)

2 - Technique (functionality and part usage)

3 - Design and color (characterization, aesthetic)

4 - Special: you guys will choose this yourselves. You made it BIG? Choose "size". You made it creepy? Choose "scariness". You made something never seen before? Go on, choose "originality". You can literally choose what is the best defining aspect or your MOC, and we will judge on that. This will let us judge even entries very different from each other in any aspect.

5- Judge appeal: appealing to an specific judge so that you'll have his vote, for instance, you can put this on your moc: "ZOMG i knw buss burial is goin to luv dis cause he just so awzum nd i luv him frum al may hurt!Vute far me burial pls!" Or something like that. It's up to you really.

Lol, needless to say the last one is a joke.

The final round starts today and ends on 7th of october.

Good luck to all of you!

Again me dawg. >:D

So, in short: no size limit, is a singular moc (no, say, combiners for example) and has to be completely fabulous, correct?

This round's gonna be totally exquisite. And I'm so having an idea forming already... Yeeeesss... Thank God I ordered some valuable parts during the summer.

Yeah, but didn't offer much to think about. It was very straight foward actually, the only real challenge there was technical. This year we wanted to push you guys a little out of the box.

I will actually check if your entry is INDEED you best MOC. If it's not at least among the very best, I'll consider it out of theme and award it a 0. How's that for a challenge?
You have to give it all you got, it's in the category description.

This sure looks interesting! While I'm not sure this will be as challenging in the parts department like last year, this sure will be one mentally! And with how well these three contestants have done all year, I'm sure this is going to be a very close call! Good luck to you, Gringat, Nick, Monarth. The weight of the world is on your shoulders.... No? Well, the weight of the Bio Cup is. :P

My entry's actually ready to be photoshot. The only thing I try to solve right now is a proper lighting for the shooting. I'm unable to use daylight anymore, as the days are getting darker and colder as the winter approaches here. I'm trying to avoid yellow-ish lighting, which is my main issue with the lamps available.

About my moc, gotta tell ya, the thing's one of my best works to date, so I'd say that's a check mark for the category. I won't reveal anymore than that, so I'll have you guys shaking your boots off of excitement :D

Well, at this point we are not about to lose any contestants. If needed, an extension will be granted.

Finally getting around to sorting out "Strider"'s place in the contest. My optional criterion is "costume", if that's allowed. The overall look of his armour in terms of an outfit a character is wearing as opposed to technicality of build.

Technically, that would go under "characterization". I think it's a more precise way to describe it.

This is taking way too long... 1,5 weeks overtime? Has Nick forgotten this? I can't stop thinking how is this going to end... Even if he posts an entry, he'll have an unfair advantage by having been able to look at my and Gringat's entries and tweak his own all this extra time...

I'm really sorry for having kept everyone waiting for so long, and then failing to get my entry complete within that generous time. I've just finished my entry now, and I'll be photographing it in a few hours time. Even though it's rightly disqualified, would I be able to add it to the group for posterity's sake?

I should have been more diligent in showing that I was still working on my entry, but at the same time I didn't want to keep saying "It's almost there" when I wasn't sure how much longer it would take. I'll explain myself better soon but ultimately I didn't want to turn in a rushed entry even though I've spent so much time on it, since it wouldn't have been my best work. I didn't lose attention to the Cup, and I'm only taking a short break now so that I can start on my MocOlympics entry... Should be fun! :/

This delay of yours has caused us a lot of trouble. I do not know how to proceed with this, because the time given to you was much longer than the one given the others, though I think that in the end all of you spent around the same time on your entries. Your entry is probably great and you are a very skilled builder, but you made this very hard on us.

What I would like to know now is if it's ok with the other contestants for you to submit your entry right now. I'm not exactly on favor of it but after so long and months of competition and exquisite work from you, it feels kind of dumb not letting you in.

I'm happy for my entry to not be submitted, since ended up taking 2 weeks extra than I should have. The aim of the round was to make your best creation within the time span, and I didn't achieve that - fair is fair. I had an excellent time in the Bio-Cup and greatly benefited from the building challenges, so no matter the decision I won't feel empty handed.

Although it has been a frustrating wait, it suits me right to have a fair fight. It's all fine by me whether or whether not it'll be let in, and even that I'm not too satisfied with having his entry come in so late. I'm all up for finishing this fair and square. What kind of victory would it be anyway with a missing contestant (if I won)?

Let the entry come in, but make it quick or my head bursts. >_<

Just get it up when you're done. You've pretty much secured 3rd place, but I would really like to see what you've been working on, even if it is just from the flickr link. I'm sure the others would be inclined to see it too.

Well, I wouldn't call it atrocious as well, that's a very hard term, but I agree that it was indeed not as good as it could be. Rest assured though, that all the necessary measures will be taken to guarantee a greater quality to the contest next year. If you would like to be helpful in that process, please write on the "feedback" topic what pleased and what didn't please you in this years cup. Thanks!

Yeah, I know what you mean. I hoped the theme would push the players to surpass themselves, instead they went with what they knew best. Add to that the delays, and you got an anticlimatic last round.

Fwoosh!

Technically they weren't free rides (well, not all of them), they were second chances, and more often than not, those that dropped out were halfway to 3/4 through of the build time, leaving three choices A) smaller, but odd group or B) a second chance for a runner up to enter by default or C) a second chance for a runner up but with a significantly shortened build time challenge. Ultimately chose B, since dropouts ended up offering next to no time for anyone to build something good. Would have been cool to see C though.

The whole reason for getting those guys up, whilst they didn't attend that round, was solely to keep the numbers balanced. So it was either adding someone who lost before, or dropping someone that won that round. The former seemed good at the time.

The last round was a bit too flexible, but we had the confidence that it would work. Hate to use the old cliche of "We're only human." but that is how it is. So we learn from our mistakes and move on, preparing for the next one.

Hell, I may even participate for the next one lol
