Review of HOW TO PLAY
 Group admin
None of you have ever played an online version of Mafia yet, so here is a quicky review of how to play!

You are STRONGLY ENCOURAGE to read this over, lest you not know how to play once Day One comes! So read this and the links I give you!

UPDATE 1:

If you are a town member you may disregard the following message, since it has nothing to do with you.

I would like to say that I have decided that the Mafia SHOULD get to know who the other Mafia are, like how it says in the Mafiascum site, despite what I said in the messages. I'll be sending out revised messages to the Mafia members. Sorry!

~~ THE MAIN IDEA OF THE GAME: ~~

The basic idea of Mafia is that out of all the people playing, there's a small group of betrayers trying to bring everyone else down. The betrayers are the Mafia, sometimes called "scum" or other unpleasant names. Everyone else is in the Town, otherwise called "villagers" or "innocents" or so forth.

The Town's goal is to get rid of all the scum players. They do this by taking a majority vote each game Day for who they want to get rid of. The Mafia's goal is to outlast all of the Townies until they control the majority vote, at which time there's nothing the Town can do to stop the scum from completely taking over. They can do this by avoiding being voted out and killing players at during the Night phases following each game Day. The crowd that starts the game gets whittled down until eventually only Townies or scum remain in the game.

So strategically, the game comes down to Townies finding and voting out the Mafia as often as possible. The Mafia tries to avoid getting voted out and kill off the players who threaten them at Night.

~~ BASIC PLAY OF THINGS: ~~

Then the game starts with "Day One". The game thread is open, and there is a conversation/discussion (for 48 real-time hours). At the end of those 48 hours, and voting thread will be opened and every player needs to vote for someone, for who they think is most likely to be the mafia. Often times during the Day someone will accidentally say something, or act suspicious, and in that way you can tell if he is a mafia.

After that, the game goes to Night. As before, everyone "goes to sleep" and the moderator will call upon the Mafia to "point out the person they want to kill at Night". Eg: Each mafia members sends me the vote of who they want to be killed. The player who is killed by the Mafia flips and is removed from the game much like the player who was voted out. During the night, other people who have roles (more on that in a sec!) will also be able to perform their roles.

The cycle of Day and Night continue until either all of the Mafia are voted out or all of the Townies have been removed from the game. In most cases, the game can be called when the Mafia gains veto power over the Day's vote - that is, when all of the Mafia voting together can prevent a majority from ever sentencing one of their own.

~~ ROLES ~~
A role is the specific character or ability user a player plays as in a game of Mafia. Roles are at the very least comprised of a role name and any abilities that role may have.

The most common roles are Vanilla Townie and Mafia member, but there are other roles with night roles and special abilities. If you are a special role then you will know it from the message I sent you.

For some roles that may appear in this game, please read over this page - http://wiki.mafiascum.net/index.php?title=Roles

Most, if not all of the "Very Common Roles" will be present in this game, and I'm not sure if there are any "Less Common Roles" present or not, I'll have to double-check.

In future games there will more diverse roles, which will make the game more interesting, but also more complicated.
