Week In Review: Week 1

Well the games have been off to a quick start, and then it tapered down once we hit Monday. So far you guys have created 108 entries....not bad for the first week, though I was expecting at least a hundred more.

Four people have been DQ'd or quit the game entirely. Remember to follow the rules folks. Nothing in life is free, and we all have rules to abide by....LEGO contests are no different. If you think we're being mean, your attitude warrants it. Same goes if you think we're being nice. It's a two way street.

I'm not paying too close attention to the standings, but I can figure out which players are in it to win it by the builds they're submitting. Not all of them are getting 5's either....they're just giving it their best, and it shows.

While you all have been building, I've reviewed four video games in the last week, worked full time, raised 4 kids, and put up with a new bulldog taking up residence where my super duper secret build used to be. :( It's amazing what happens in a week.

So, while we prepare for the second crazy week tell us what you think of the game so far. Any improvments you'd like to see? Comments, complaints, or suggestions? Team letting you down? Get it all out right here and now. Group therapy time! Any categories you can't wait to try? What are we doing RIGHT? Etc., etc.....let's wash it all off our hands and move into week 2 drama free!

No real complaints from my neck of the woods; the judging seems to me to be pretty on-the-level. Great job, judges!

Ugh. Don't even get me started on gas prices. Between gas prices and LEGO prices, we are universally screwed...

They're 3 pence a piece here in Blighty, that doesn't seem TOO expensive! Although you can get 3 white one's for the same price...

I absolutely REFUSE to moderate your guys' chat room. If you guys can't learn to be civil to each other, that's your own problem. I have four kids of my own to take care of, last thing I want to do is babysit for your parents.

Heath just summed up why I refuse to even go into the chat room, that and the fact I don't care what goes on in there.

Very wise.

As many of the complainers put it, I am the moderator of the NeatChat room, so all your complaints should be directed at me.

Thanks.

Its been really good... even though I didn't get the highest score on my first entry, I am really encouraged to try harder on my second one, and I think that it will be fantastic :)

I'm having a good time so far. The main problem I'm facing is my job: after working and sweating all day, it's hard to find the energy to sit down and build creations (let alone good ones). Honestly, I can't imagine how some of the other AFOLs with more demanding jobs/lives do it...

There's really been a lot of MOCs being posted, and a great deal are truly superb! This seems like it'll be incredibly successful this year, and tough to win. :P

I have a grand total of about 2 to 3 hours a week to build these days... I've been working on my brickworld build since November (tore it down and redid the whole thing as well so that took some time) but yeah, I totally agree with you. Time is the biggest pain in the (bleep) when it comes to Lego. At least I can take an hour or so during work (break) time to get over here and moderate/judge/babysit...

Sheesh, I'm impressed Mr. Phipson! If I was that busy I'd have a nervous break down or something, hehe. Thanks for all you--and all the other AFOL--do to contribute to this wonderful community!

The only reward or thanks I need is to see all of the creations you guys keep pumping out, which in turn inspires ME to push my builds to the limit. ;)
