I do not sort most of mine, but Minifig parts, and custom weapons and such, I keep in this thing that has 22 drawers, so it comes in handy. I should sort my other stuff though.

No I don´t sort bricks :D :D. For me it is waste of time and no fun finding brick that you need in large amount of other bricks.

What is a waste of time is looking for the brick you need for 15 minutes. That makes me angry.

I try to keep them sorted, but when i finish a big 3000 peice project they are kindof hard to sort again. I have about half of my legos sorted right now. I'm trying to make some creation worthy of being on mocpages.

First of all Hi. Im new in this group. :)

We do sort our LEGO. In 8 big boxes. And 6-8 small boxes.
And 1 for each build were doing.
The 8 big boxes is for color bricks and plates.
6-8 is for specials, roof and transparent bricks + 1 for mixed ( to be sorted later kinda box ).
Offcourse being 3 persons sharing our LEGO its always a pita getting it sorted 100% back. But we manage to keep our system.

Ohhhhh yes!

It is so much easier to find parts! All of my minifigs are sorted, and my bricks are sorted by color. Technic pieces (connectors, etc.) are sorted as well.

I'll upload some pics!

I'm on Neat Chat, if anyone wants to talk. :)

My brothers and I decided to sort our Lego into tubs about 9 years ago. We only had four tubs so we split our collection into themes: Pirates, Cowboy, Adventurers and town. Now our collection is nine years bigger and we have added a plate tub, a black and blue, a white, and a steampunk as well as many smaller boxes for specialty pieces. Cowboy tub has morphed into brown, tan, and like colors, while Adventurers is mostly landscape. This method seems to work fine since I usually want many pieces of the same theme, or color.

Why should I? Half the fun is dumping everything out and ending up with 2x4 plates embedded in your feet!

See, the problem is that I have SO many LEGO's I can never find anything. I used to just dunp them out but then finding pieces started to take me 10-20 minutes sometimes, so my MOCs started to look like I was scrounging for pieces. I had the piece...somewhere...but I used a lesser piece instead for the sake of time.

So then I started to really sort by color. Now I have three mini-cabinets (1 1/2 foot x 2 foot) of 39 drawers each: one for light grey, dark grey, and black. Then I have 15-20 trays with dividing pockets for the rest of my colors. My minifigs are sorted by head, torso, legs, weapons, hair, capes, etc. I also keep most of my built sets on shelving units. The rest of my pieces then get shoved in buckets.

But for specialty pieces that I use alot (tiles, cheese-slopes, rock pieces, plants, tree branches) I separate those into sorting trays as well.

I know it is complicated, and it took me almost a month but now I can focus on the build and not finding pieces.
